I mean I do have preference (for X360 mainly due to the controller and secondly due to online), but otherwise, unlike many from both fan sides, I don't hate one just because I prefer the other.
I really like both of them a lot and don't think there is much difference between the two platforms. Both have plently of the same genres tailored for hardcore gamers' taste.
So do you happen to own and like both? and what are the pros and cons you find in each?
.
My pros for each are:
PS3
Extremely high quality first party titles with engaging single player storyline and superior graphics on any console when devs take advantage of the hardware. Elegantly designed interface (XMB). Very reliable hardware (still on my launch 60GB PS3). Also SONY takes commendable risk on extremely interesting new IPs.
.
X360
Brilliant controller design + superior online + slightly better performing multiplats.
.
And my cons for each are:
PS3
Bad triggers design and thumbsticks layout (exacerbated by not having good alternative 3rd party controllers). Subpar online, or at least used to be (had many online issues with PSN back in the day, but the last time I played online on my PS3 was when LBP came out, so maybe it's better now).
.
X360
Horrendous hardware quality prior to slim models. Really bad dashboard design (getting worse in every revision). Repetitive first party IPs, MS is playing it safe and not taking risks with new interesting IPs like SONY seems to be doing for quite a while now. Shift of focus to more casual and media streaming than hardcore games.
