Am i wrong if a say PS 4 surpassed PS 3 and going to surpass PS/PS 2 soon?

WOW. Been following Playstations since PS 2 days.Never seen sooo many AAA's back to back on any PS systems compared to PS 4 lol.To me it seems PS 4 will become Sony's best console of all time in terms of awesome exclusives pretty soon from the direction its going.

PS3 had over 40 great exclusives, PS4's only got like 12 so far

Uh, no. The PS4 is a piece of garbage compared to the PS2. The library isn't that good, the only thing it has are sales which are mostly because of the well established PS brand.

As someone who owned every PlayStation, 1 and 2 their first Christmas, PS3 at end of its generation, and just got a PS4. We likely haven't seen this disparage since PS2. I specifically remember having PS2 and PSP, and it was what everyone played, literally had like 1 friend who had Gamecube (borrowed it for RE4 and was good) while most of us got Xbox 1's cause Halo was totally worth it. This gen it's the same way. Everyone I know has a PS4, and had 1 family member with Wii U (right now I'd borrow Wii U/Switch for 1 game and be good aka BotW) while some of my family and friends got Xbox One cause Halo was worth it.

-PS2 killed Sega and beat Nintendo by a legit 7 fold and the Sony's handheld whooped Nintendo's console, all in 1 generation, and Xbox 1 lived to tell the story.

-PS4 killed Ouya and Steam Machines and has been shutting down Shield/Fire TV's, whooped Nintendo by a legit 6 fold and Sony's handheld Vita beat Nintendo's console, all in the same generation and Xbox One lived to tell the story!

It's like a mirror generation. Add in the trajectory of PS4 sales, mixed in with same popularity levels as PS2 and anyone would come to the same conclusion that PS4 is surpassing its predecessors, if not in the same league.

I mean take away Generation 7 (where all 3 console makers were in top 10 best consoles sold all-time) and Nintendo and Xbox have almost zero success stories. Nintendo's best work is in handhelds and Wii, no wonder they built a hybrid of handheld and motion controls, I just wonder if people see that this was their same best trick a decade ago. Xbox has done well for being new to the game in 2001, their own little revolutionary ideas and their niche this gen has kept them above the curve that PS4 set.

The PS3 had at least 20+ great games. The PS4 has a good week and it's better than PS2 soon? Lol.

I guess if Zelda gets 10/10 we can crown the Switch better than the DS right? And the SNES? Right?????

Keep in mind.. games like DMC, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, GTA (for a time period), Tekken, Silent Hill, ect. ect..ect.. were all exclusive to the PS2 at the time. With 3rd parties being more open to other systems with their support, It's almost unfair to compare the two eras.

PS4 has been amazing. In my opinion at the same level as the PS1, and already ahead PS2 and PS3.

Are you one of those guys who think indies are not games? PS4 already has over 1k games....that's almost as much as PS3 got in 10 years.

AAA's by gamespot? Because TLG, Grav Rush 2, Nioh, Horizon are not AAA by the Meta industry average. NOw PS2? That had AAA's. I know the thing with people is always "now is the best" but no. PS2 still dominates.

We live in a sad times, when people really think the PS4 comes even close to the PS2. You guys probably didn't even game back then. There is no way the few sequels, movie-titles and remasters match one of the greatest library of all time.

I bought the PS2 about a year after it came out (for $449.99 CAD + 14% tax no less). The PS4 is not even in the same league. Revisionist view of history.

Anyway, according to metacritic, PS4 has 586 games with scores above 70/100. According to me, well, between AAAs and indies i already played over 100 good games this generation....but there are so much more i would love to play if i had more time...

How many of them 586 are actually ps4 exclusives? Thats the difference between a ps1/2 and ps4, ps1/2 had so many exclusives that you could only really game on them, the ps4 shares so many games with pc/xbo/ps3 that apart from a handful of titles you can be happy without it.

Well I already like it more than the PS2 & PS3. It has some work to get on the PS1's level, but I can easily see the PS4 eventually becoming my favorite Sony console.

I don't buy multiple systems per generation anymore, so exclusives and multiplats, for me are all the same. That's why i get the platform that gets the most dev support/games.

That said, PS4 have had many exclusives. Not just AAA, but many indies people don't talk about.

I think the original PS3 as a product is way better than the PS4 will ever be. It was fully backwards compatible, somewhat open to allow consumers to really use the hardware the way they want, and PSN was brand new and seemed to work well for the time. Since those good old days in 2007 it seems like Sony still uses the same network infrastructure which just doesn't cut it by today's standards. The PS4 is like a toy compared to the PS3, but it also has a cheap price tag.

To be fair they both have a somewhat cheap build quality and the original versions both have cooling issues.

Lol... PS4 will never pass the PS2. Games today aren't as good as before. Right now all hyped with Horizon wow... while me im dissapointed no more Killzone online. Horizon could be a good game but im so sure its over rated. The graphics could be the best ever but come on... Shadow of the Colossus im positive is a better game. Its like comparing God of War I and the best God of War II to that new GOW... the one were Kratos walks, baby sits a kid, has emotions xD why they dont make a movie instead of a game? We will be lucky to get one GTA game this gen, while PS2 had 3. Past is better.

doubt it, as soon as Sony can surpass Microsoft's Scorpio with a more powerful console, they will, the current gen won't last long enough for the PS4 to be Sony's best selling console, not unless with this blurred generation gap there's no clear end to this generation with constant hardware upgrades

No system is going to have the exclusives of the PS2 gen, because it's too easy to port everything to steam. Steam wasn't a thing back then, so PC ports were usually even more half-assed and mostly physical release only. As quirky as the PS2 hardware was, almost all games were designed for PS2 first and foremost. That reality just doesn't exist anymore. Now all systems are basically PC-lite architecture.

I'd say PS4 is obliterating the PS3 at this point (and I absolutely loved the PS3 last gen, from 2009 onwards PS3 was king). Can the PS4 ever catch the PS2? Even if we ignore the "exclusive" angle, probably not, PS2 just had a massive library period. The fact that so many were exclusive just puts it out of reach.

Xbox Exclusives meaning that If I do not own an Xbox, I can't play it.

I see a number of people mentioning exclusives being more numerous on the PS2, and that's true, but... there was a time when almost every game on a console was exclusive. Even games with the same name were completely different animals on SNES and Genesis. We've now hit an era were exclusives are simply not going to happen much. Cost of development is too high and ease of porting across x86 platforms is too great for most 3rd parties to go exclusive. Indeed, MS is deliberately and willfully moving away from have games exclusive to their console. So yes - the PS2 had many more great exclusives, but if you literally teleported the PS2 into the current climate 90% of those games wouldn't have been exclusive and they'd just be "great multiplats". It's just not the way things are done 9.9/10 times now, except for 1st party devs.

Video games are always improving. The PS2 had more going for it for the time but most of those games no longer hold up. If I could only have a PS4 or PS2 I am positive I would chose the PS4. And I really don't care which games are exclusives. Games today are better than they have ever been. I started gaming in '77.

The PS2 was a monster when it came to 3rd party exclusives. And even when the 360 and PS3 came out it was still getting great games.

PS4 is still behind the PS3.

but heck , I didn't even play forza or halo, I play fifa ultimate team and I play with legends which are exclusive to the xbox. I also play magic duels, you can't play it the ps4 and it's also on the pc but I still like it better on the console.

Looking at Nintendo's current marketing strategy and the message it's spreading to the masses, this is going to be the hottest buy of 2017.

Also, using retro style games like Super Bomberman R, Ultra Street Fighter II, Puyo vs Tetris, and a balance of modern games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, MK8DX, and Splatoon 2, it's looking good for Nintendo. It's only a matter of what their Holiday strategy will be since Super Mario Odyssey will be the lead Holiday title for Nintendo.
