http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/amazon-us-warns-of-ps3-slim-shortages there's the link

----------------------------------------------------------

Amazon in the US has warned of shortages of the new slim PlayStation 3 when the system launches next month.

As a result, the retailer is limiting sales of the USD 299 console to one per household.

"As you may know, the PlayStation 3 120 GB is in great demand, and there are shortages of this product across the US," wrote the company.

"In an effort to provide as many customers as possible with the opportunity to purchase PlayStation 3 120 GB, we are limiting the total number of PlayStation 3 120 GB units that can be purchased. As a result, each household may only purchase one PlayStation 3 120 GB unit."

The move follows Amazon in the UK, which yesterday said there may be shortages of stock in the region, and is limiting the number of units to five per person

-----------------------------------------------------------

Good news for Sony, it looks like theres a high demand for PS3s now. Hopefully they can keep supply up.

A bit of both. I means PS3's will at least start selling more. But they'll have to constantly restock if they wanna keep makin money

Well, I know Gamestop, Best Buy, GameCrazy, and other retailers are going to do similar preorder moves as well.

Looks like it will be 2006 all over again. Let's just try and avoid the muggings, robberies, fights, and shootings okay?

That's not surprising. Same thing happen when the XBox 360 price dropped.

It'll be interesting if Sony runs out of their PS3 Slim consoles before the holidays get here. Wouldn't that be a kick in the head? LOL!!

Maybe I'll get one just so I can sell it on EBay during the holidays.

Sony reps have promised a LOT of things in the past. Most of those promises were broken.

We don't know what it's going to do until it gets released. Usually new hardware doesn't initially flop anyways. With exception maybe to the Virtual Boy and Jaguar. Most new hardware will sell fairly well to begin with. The PS2 Slim and even the upgrade NES sold very well when they we reintroduced. So yeah, it shouldn't flop coming out of the gate. How it does 4-5 weeks down the road will be critical though.

Why would a single household want to buy 2+ PS3s based on a $100 price reduction? That would cost them $600+ as opposed to the previous price of $400 for one PS3. How many freaking households buy the same console more than once at its launch? Two brothers for instance living in the same house would rather each spend $299 for a PS3 Slim rather than previously spending $200 each for a PS3 Phat? Eh, irrational.
