[QUOTE="NAPK1NS"]I said it before in another thread but I'll say it again: The game is absolutely terrifying. dom2000
Ohhh i cant wait till play it! Havent been so excited about a game in ages! Wats it like compared to penumbra?Depends what you are looking for in a game I think, I think that puzzlewise the Penumbra series is better, but as a horrorgame? this one takes the cake, it is far better atthe mind plays, and has a better atmosphere, I have not completed it yet, but what really gave bonus points in my book was that What Ive seen of the monsters so far, is acturally not really getting a clear image of them.
I am still not far in to know what exactly is haunting and hunting me, which keeps the nerves high strung.
In the Penumbra series the first time I saw one of the enemies, I nearly had a laughing fit, they look so comical, that it imedietly removed all sense of terror from the game, and the mind games in Penumbra (especially the voice in teh black pleague was fare more of a comical relief then scary).
In Amnesia, the mind games hwoever feels far more freeky, I really liked when at first I hit a low sanity that the floor (and I think walls too) were covered with big crawling beatles, or how subdle effects does wonders for that game.
Even the sanctury of a lightsource is a curse in the game, what little light a lantern or candle can give often makes things so much more moody, and plays more tricks with your mind then if the lights were off, sadly tho, the character will lose his sanity if without a lightsource for long.
So to summorise: As a Puzzle adventure game, I think the Penumbra series might be the better game
As a horror game Amnesia wins hands down, and it helps if you are a HP lovecraft fan too ;)
They do share alot of principles tho, they have a fairly similar control scheme, altho I think Amnesia has a more refined version (or is it just me?)
