Around a year to 6 months back, arguments where made. Many Sony users boasted Uncharted 4 was graphics king; while pc gamers such as myself argued Crysis 3 destroyed it.

Having seen the footage first hand, I must concede: a Crysis 3 comparison should not have been made.

Crysis Warhead would have been more comparable.

Have a nice day.

I'm a Sony user and I didn't boast shit. The consoles are weak amd APU garbage. Don't expect them to beat PC games from even 2-3 years ago

What's funny is that the face of Nathan Drake there is evidently some sort of pre-baked effect like in most real time cutscenes. His in game model looks even worse.

For me graphics are nice, but it's all about the fun game play and story. So let me see... a boring FPS that only PC elitists care
about for graphics wars, or a fun action/adventure that looks to have graphics that can rival most games? Yep, Uncharted for
me.

That's what I was thinking it didn't look as good but according to scotts it was because of some cinematic angle in the cut scene

Well you can see sweat alpha channel effects which are probably going to be disabled during normal gameplay because it's a minor detail. Textures are probably changed, too.

Umm, not really:

First Crysis pic is too blocky, face textures aren't smooth enough and the stubble is clearly low-res because it hardly actually looks like facial hair. If you actually look at the suit he's wearing, those textures are god-awful I mean honestly look at his left shoulder.

Second Crysis pic is too washed out, lots of distortion all over the screen. I don't know what the devs were thinking there. Too much blue, not enough vibrant colour. Gun is too dark, you can see very lazy lighting on the right side of the picture. Instead of realistic light pollution it looks like they coloured a side of the cave with yellow crayons.

Third Crysis pic is way too bright, reminiscent of all those "omg lens flare" shooters these days. Look at the foliage on the left, it's extremely flat and is honestly disappointing even for last gen standards. The trees aren't much better, they look very 2D. The rocky wall on the right lacks tesselation. The ground looks decent I'll admit that, but that's not that impressive when all the resources go into making a nice ground while everything else looks like crap.

So yeah man, if you want to apologize that you were wrong and rightfully place Uncharted 4 up on the graphics king pedestal then I'm totally ok with that :).

UC4 looks much better than Crysis Warhead but it's definitely not graphics king, based on the gameplay shown today.

It looks like graphics king to me so far, I don't see anything coming out for consoles that looks as good as this (except for Batman Arkham Knight or The Witcher 3, but those are in the argument).

Being a pc gamer: I play intellectual titles such as Wasteland 2, that have more gameplay mechanics in the first 20 minutes than Uncharted has in 8 hours.

This is what happens when you're a pc gamer.

Will never buy an AMD product ever again

I like the idea of AMD APUs in their proper use. To bring decent capabilities to low end computers. I certainly never wanted then in consoles.

And I really assumed MS and Sony knew what they were doing putting a low clocked, low end AMD CPU in the consoles. On the one hand the physics in FM5 beat the crap out of the 360s FM4, on the other hand there are indications it's turning out to be a bottleneck like in GTAV.

I think that last gen was costly to MS with the RROD and costly to Sony with the expensive PS3 hardware and this gen they just threw something cheap together that benefits them more so than us. Because after the previous 8 year gen, this is not what I had in mind.

I'm not planning to get an AMD product unless they do something ground breaking, but not because I don't like them, but Intel impresses me with their CPUs and I like Nvidia graphics cards and their software.

the first thing to notice is that Drake has an actual expressive face with soft skin and everything while the guy from Crysis has a hard looking texture that makes him look like he suffers from a frozen face just like the characters on The Witcher 3.

I'm a PC gamer and has played all the Uncharted games to date and you are wrong.

I've also played Wasteland 2, the game is a confusing mess that requires determination to play. At character creation you are presented confusing character creation screen that requires you to look at forums to determine what to do, and the random encounters are not even random they are the same enemies and maps over and over again.

But I like both games for different reasons, Uncharted is an action adventure game with gun play... you are not going to get an RPG experience out of it obviously, but you are going to get a well done story and good scripted sequences and shoot people in the face while solving puzzles (although the puzzles could be better I must admit).

The models in Crysis aren't that great, Crysis and Crysis Warhead are quite dated by now and lack a lot of modern rendering going on in Uncharted 4.

Crysis looks pretty generic and uninspired, Uncharted has loads of personality and style, which is far more important.

nice job TC

comparing a pre alpha VS a finished product.

you know that most graphical enhancemets are done at the end of dev cycle ?

and compressed pics foh real ?

In the end Cryisis would still win.

Agreed.

Pre-alpha footage screengrabbed from a highly compressed youtube video.

That's what happened.

Crysis looks pretty generic and uninspired, Uncharted has loads of personality and style, which is far more important.

This made me laugh big time.

Go ahead and laugh. You think its funny, just like I think its funny as hell how people like to compare Mario Kart 8 with Infamous 2nd Son and say that Mario Kart looks better.

The U4 trailer was graphically underwhelming. The geometry is basic and the textures look washed out. I thought the decline in Image Quality was because ND is aiming for 1080 @ 60 FPS but I read on Eurogamer that the game is actually running at 30 FPS.

Anyways, in the first comparison pic, Drake looks a lot more realistic than Psycho because of the eyes. Psycho looks dead-eyed. And in the third comparison pic, it seems like the textures didn't load in time.
