[QUOTE="St_muscat"]I also thought (not sure) that Nintendo america is making $26 per Wii, so i'm shocked buit I didn't think the euro one was so high.Chofee
Isn't it obvious as to why it's so?! Wii costs more here, just like all the other consoles..
well im proud to be an american, where my consoles are cheap(er)
Nintendo is raking in large amounts of gross profit for every Wii sold, says Nikko Citigroup games analyst Soichiro Fukuda, while components manufacturers are reaping the rewards of the console's success. Sony, which invested heavily devloping the PS3's core Cell chip and Blu-ray technology, is not expected to turn a profit on each PS3 sold until 2009 at the earliest, while Microsoft's gaming division is hoping to make a profit for the first time in 2008. I am not saying that it not true....But the report does not have the facts to back up their claim. When you read their source for the $74, the source does not say anything about how they got to the numbers. It is almost like they pulled the number out of the no wheres.

Value is all relative. I would have paid 400 dollars for my Wii. To me getting the system for 250 dollars was a steal. What about those people on Ebay who are spending 300+ dollars for their systems? Just because the company makes money off the system doesn't mean that it's not worth purchasing.
Why don't they just lower the damn things MSRP by $70 making a 4$ profit so that their sales can jump into the millions per month.Pro_wrestler
Because they can't keep the darn things in stock at the current price. You need to go take an economics class and learn about supply and demand. If anything they should raise the price.

It is overpriced and 74 on every console is a high markup. Surely the price can be lower since they make money on software also.

Of course the price can be lowered. But, think about it, would you lower the cost of a product that flies off shelves? It makes no sense. When large quantities of Wii's start piling up on the shelves, then they can lower the price. But not now.

With Ps3's and 360's prices, There is no need to lower your price. Consumers have pretty much no choice if they think money is an issue.

Explain to me how consumers are being ripped off. My sister and my mom love Wii Sports. My Boss she bought the Wii for Wiisports and other pick up games as well as buying one for her daughter. The Wii appeals to more people and a broader demographic. Its no suprise that its going to outsell the other two consoles.

It doesn't have old hardware. It's hardware just isn't as strong as its competitors. There's a difference.
IE: The PS2's hardware is old. The PS3's is relatively new.

Just in case you haven't noticed, the point of a business is to make money. Something in which only Nintendo seems to be doing right now.

MS are still making up for their losses (from XBOX and the warrenty) but that doesnt mean that MS are selling the 360 lower then the cost of of manufactering it.
