well, Departures of the norm have worked out in the past. Look at RE 4.

The problem with that reasoning is that the RE franchise wasn't defined as a genre based on its gameplay (although people did get used to it). Survival horror wasn't exclusive to fixed camera angle games. Fallout, on the other hand, is a PnP RPG which is being morphed into something else entirely.

But how would he even know if Fallout 3 is garbage unless he has played it? Is he one of those Fallout 1 and 2 fanboys that dosent think Bethesda will do a good job on Fallout 3? black_awpN1

The whole point here is that Fallout isn't Fallout without the original format. Making an Elder Scrolls clone and then calling it "Fallout" isn't going to make it Fallout. If they took the story similarities and put them in an Elder Scrolls engine and then decided to name it something other than Fallout, that would be fine, but this is clearly an anal violation of a beloved franchise.

If they took the story similarities and put them in an Elder Scrolls engine and then decided to name it something other than Fallout, that would be fine, but this is clearly franchise violation.

I personally think it looks like it will be a great game. Did you want them to make it a Top down game like Fallout 1 and 2 where? Would that ne OK on consoles these days?

Which in theory sounds like Fun. but when its put into practice is another story. Im personally gonna wait for Reviews probaly. But by god if the game dosent look gorgeous.

Fallout 1 and 2 were on PC. The game would be best suited for PC and not some crappy console game ported to PC. I feel that they will consolize it like Oblivion with the bad menus and other nasty steps.

That may very well be my personal game of the year I have to agree. Hopefully the atmosphere and the setting will feel right, but it does without a doubt looks great. Now I only could play the original Fallout. I think those are my type of games.

Gotta say though. I'm really looking forward to SSBB and Left 4 Dead.

i dont know how fallout 3 will do. i hope they dont make the game like oblivion where main quest is short and isnt as fun as the sidequests in the game. fallout 1 and 2 were awesome games not so much on fallout tactics.
