Then don't buy them? Just because they are there doesn't mean you have to get them. Every system gets trash games.

It's more the fact that this is the only western support the 3DS has gotten so far.

True, but when i go to the nearby gamestore the 3ds shelf is littered with shovelware. Whats so sad about it is that the DS space was shrunk to one third of its size to compensate that garbage.

Right, but I'm talking in terms of more noticable quantities as tc is talking about an "assault" of shovelware.

And it's true. In a year or two the 3DS shelf at Best Buy will probably be composed of about 1/3 bad, cheap shovelware titles, but there will most likely be such a huge quantity of good games that it won't really matter just as it never does for any popular system.

Well, it's always good to make budget titles, and games for kids and other people who aren't "core" gamers. In the end, there's a market out there for some people, and gaming is a business. I hope Nintendo kind of begins launching 3DS retail games and let's more of these "shovelware" games go onto the eShop though, it would help out the market a lot more by creating more shelf space for higher budget titles, but also allowing easier access to a wider amount of consumers.

The typical member of Gamespot is not the entire user base of videogames. Those games apply to a ton of different individuals. There are some people that just find them fun, while there are the people that they are designed for (i.e. children). Those same people could call the more "hardcore" games shovelware because they are in the way of games that they want to play. I will admit that I get annoyed when I am trying to find something and I have to dig through but there is a user base for those games. And just like every generation, whichever system is selling the most will see a larger amount of these types of games.

With great sales comes great amounts of shovelware. That said I don't know what games these are so I won't judge them.

So yeah, the 3DS is getting a lot of new third party games this summer. Far from the ones you would want though. With names such as Imagine baby, Funky Barn and Fantasy Petz I can't really feel that optimistic about it. Not to say that every one wouldn't be even be worth the plastic the games are made from but as I said, not optimistic.

Several publishers like Ubisoft and Reef Entertainment are going to release games like these starting this summer for a budget price of £20-25. That's about £5 cheaper than games like RE:R, Kid Icarus and MGS33D.

well when you spin the title and make it seem like it's getting flooded with it, people tend to call others out on that type of thing

That some publishers are still in business is a miracle.
There is also the Wii-reviewer trend starting with handhelds now.
We have several sites having reviewers getting Vita's but not 3DS's and really liking the Vita games like Hotshots Golf but not caring about SML3D.
We saw this with the Wii as well. The review sites are rapidly running out of openminded reviewers or reviewers who also like to play nintendo platforms.
I don't think GS, Giant Bomb, Gametrailers or IGN have anyone left who liked playing on the Wii/3DS/DS. Or they have like 5 times as many people looking at PC/360/PS3 multiplats, and not giving us reviews for more than the 360 version.

Well, it kind of is. When they suddenly announce 10 shovelware games with a budget line I can't really see it in any other way. I'm not trashing the 3DS, I'm trashing the poor support the 3DS is getting from western devs.

Poor support? Announcing 10 games that you deem shovelware because they aren't your tastes doesn't make them shovelware to everyone, plus it's not an indication of anything bad. Once again, all the most successful platforms have a ton of shovelware to go along with a plethora of A/AA/AAA games. If anything this should be a good sign that third parties are taking their shovelware back from iOS to traditional handhelds, logically their core games will follow suit (except epic for some reason lol) Western Smestern devs. The 3DS already has a killer third party year in 2012 with Heroes of Ruin, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest Heroes 3, Dragon Quest Monsters Terry's Wonderland, Resident Evil Revelations, Tekken 3D Prime, Layton and Mask of Mircale and so many more (Mutant Mudds, Bomb Monkey, Jet Rocket 3D) Oh, yea Spirit Camera. Even without west support it's gotta a killer line up that a few petz games aren't going to effect at all

Only people that care about shovelwares are insecure people who don't own the system but are so bent on hating it. So what if 3DS has gets shovelwares? Does it make the 3DS games I play any less enjoyable just by existing?

I didn't check the particular games you listed but aren't some of them by Ubisoft? Isn't Ubisoft French? Does that qualify as West? People generally seem to lump everything outside of Japan as west and that's always bugged me. Like North America developer support is definetly far west.

It's like a rite of passage. Now the 3DS will get all those types of games that made the DS such a hit in the first place. Definitely good for the 3DS. Like others have said, if you don't like the game, don't buy it.

Oh, the Imagine games are shovelware. I too disagree with people who insist on saying that everying they don't like is shovelware. However, unlike something like Just Dance, which has some fairly well-crafted games and a huge fanbase, Imagine games are just abominations that some people buy by mistake, play once, and then never play again because the damn thing is just not fun.

[QUOTE="nintendofreak_2"]

How exactly is this a problem?

nintendoboy16

It was one of the reasons the Wii is so hated on. Guess 3DS will be next to take the fire now.

DS had the same "problem" but it didn't get much hate for it.

[QUOTE="LastRambo341"]1) Learn the proper definition of "shovelware". 2) Don't buy games that don't appeal to you.JLF1MarkII

How are Imagine Babyz and Imagine Horsez not shoveware?

Shovelware is basically a game made in such a poor quality and with no effort, can be ported mindlessly. Those games may not appeal to you but they're not shovelware. An example of shovelware is Ninjabreadman

There shovel ware on all systems...always had been always will be. A rule of thumb the most successful systems will have the most shovel-ware games.
