Who could ask for anything more.

Tails as an unlockable "assist" character like Sonic 2 would be nice, but Sonic is all you need really.

I just can't get my hopes up with sonic games anymore. Stick with no "friends" for the next sonic games, also no "humans" (robotnik a human?) and towns to explore. Just focus on stage and bosses development, make it full use of speed related themes (going back in time, other dimension, etc) no transforming more 2.5d stile gameplay and graphics Add lots of extras like race for chaos emeralds, escaping from fortresses being destroyed Lots of different landscapes and stages Old style music ala (sonic 1,2,3, cd)

Watch Sega removes the ability to run. With their track record, I would not put that beyond them. :P I am glad they are taking steps in the right direction though.

That's what they're aiming for. That's why they removed all his friends and that concept art suggests that they're going for the Sonic 2 style.

Honestly, i'm a little disappointed that they're not giving me my little Miles Prower(Tails) as well--but regardless, it really doesn't make me any less excited about this project overall. = )

Sonic Unleashed didn't have that much info at the start. Sega is really making a big deal out of this so I'm more optimistic than usual.

Grrr. The lack of Tails and Knuckles just infuriates me. It's only the 3D Sonic games where multiple playable characters is a bad thing! Multiple playable characters always helps the 2D games and makes them better.

I suppose. As long as the game is great I'll be happy. Hopefully it will be great enough to get a sequel and we can get Tails and Knuckles there.

i hope they remove the homing attack. yuck, it doest take any skill at all to use that one on enemies and i just hate it. just do the old jump attack or roll attack since it takes skill with timing, etc. and please, bring back the special stages, bonus stages, etc. cant beieve it's only for digital distribution. i mean, they could pretty much implement ALOT of gameplay mechanics even if it's in 2D since graphics and set pieces arent a problem anymore. i soooo want that. like what they di with Mario Galaxy. man, oh man.

when i first saw the daylight stages on Unleashed, it was crappy compared to the Mega Drive games. all you do is run, jump, run, homing attack, etc. the enemies were stationary wtf. i don't like that. if you guys remember, it's not all about speed. halfway through the old games it gets tougher and you barely run. it was pure platforming. that's what i want.

oh and bring back those elemental forcefields! please! grrrr....i loved them on Sonic & Knuckles.

yea but in the old games you wait for them to turn around (since their backs were vulnerable) orrr...wait for them to expose parts that are vulnerable. i just dont like the homing attack at all. whoever came up with that crap? that's like Mario having a homing jumping attack. wtf. he jumps once and on the second time he'll automatically attack an enemy 30 feet away. yuck.

If it's just going to be Sonic and classic 2D at that, they might as well scrap Super Sonic and have only 6 emeralds. Really, this is one hell of a throwback. I assume the UFOs won't be joining us in this installment?

You guys Do realize this is the 4th Sonic game in a row where he is the only playable character?

Secret Rings, Unleashed and Black Knight (although the latter had an extremely limited use of other characters) all used the Sonic-only formula...

Well it was there. Sky Babylon had a section devoted to Sonic's homing attack and Blaze's jet shoes.

So Sega saying it going back to its "Old Roots" and it leaving Tails and Knuckles, that too were part of the 16-bit ear, out of the game? Why? Why must we jsut be stuck with that Hedgehog...again? He was the only playble character in Sonic unleashed so I don't see what the big deal about it jsut being Sonic is.

I don't see the harm in having Tails and Knuckles as other playble characters. They did not take at all away from Sonic 2 and Sonic 3. In fact they added to the experence by playing sightly different then Sonic himself. So a second play player could take control of tails and be part of the fun. But you were not froced to play them, you were allowed to choice.

So why not? Why not even have there names on the list?Or if it going to be an "Only Sonic Game" Then why don't character such as Knuckles and Tails get there own games. Tails Adventure 2 maybe with the Metorid style and another Knuckles Chaotix maybe? Something...

Well no Thanks Sega I'll pass this time. I do hope the game does well, maybe then you will allow Tails and Knuckles to take part. But at this point I gind it highly unlikely. If anything it just be another new character.

Edit: I'll Likely end up buying it anyway. Just sad that Tails and Knuckles will not be taking a part in the fun, its kind of annoying.

However, as long as they keep it true to the old 2-D Sonic games I'll end up buying it at some point in time.

I wonder if the Wii going to be getting this or a 2-D Sonic game of some kind? Be odd if they left the Wii out of a classic Sonic game, after classic Mario did so well. But then again I don't know hoe Sonic gmaes do on the Wii.
