Who they think they are to threaten anyone?? They all are the ones who started it all. I so hope Sony "destroys" all of them. If only for their arrogant behaviour (especially Geohot who brought everything on himself since he didnt stay private and went public).

They can take down individual people or crash Sony's website for a few minutes, but they can't do any real damage against a corporation. Or at least they never have in the past.

If Sony had gone about it without the personal attacks and constant misinformation given to the press it might well have passed by, but as they decided to try and be as vocal and ****ish as possible it unsurprisingly blew up in their faces. It was a poor PR gaff IMO.

Further proof that all of geohotz's supporters are a bunch of immature kids and teens plus some adults that can't grow up. Hackers now threatening sony is ridiculous because it completely ruins any chance of gel not being associated with them as he wants us all to think (even though we didn't) either way, I know of their power, but do havewhat it takes to threaten an international corporation not based in the U.S? Sony has already gotten the green light to look at all of their IP's and info. Those guys are crafty too.

Considering it's Sony they'll prolly go through their documents and find something or other that's illegal (all big companies have something) and they'll then threaten to post it on torrent trackers, Sony will be like "yeah right", they will, and Sony will get screwed over. Like what happened with some Banks.

While this may be true, Geohotz brought all of this upon himself. I disagree with the keys being released in the first place, but his lust for fame is what caused the issue. He should have released them anonymously.

If Geohot stayed private, none of that would have probably happened to him. He basically walked to Sony. "Hey ya"ll look i got into teh ps3 and made funny rap videos. That was ME! And nothing can possibly happen to me because we all can do whatever we want!"

Seriously, If I was Geohot and managed to get into PS3, I would have never EVER considered thinking about doing what he did. Did he really think they would just leave him alone?

People actually believe these hackers are the smartest and best at what they do. They're well known because they do their thing outside the lines, but Sony has plenty of talented people who are every bit their equal. Sony knows what they're doing and I think they've handled this entire matter appropriately. "Sony's in trouble because X hacker is after him." BS, Sony is fine and they'll continue to be fine.

Geohotz is hardly blameless, yes, but what's gotten them hot under the collar is apparently not the court case, or even injunction against him, but Sony accessing his PayPal account, his social media accounts and finding the IP addresses of anyone who accessed his website. I feel in this case they probably should have focused on cutting the head off of the beast, rather than trying to go after everyone associated with him.

Pride comes before the fall. If I were Sony I'd be cautious. What I'm saying is, Anon has managed to hack and take down websites for several governments around the world. They have ties to groups like Wikileaks. They aren't exactly some lone basement dwellers trolling a forum.

Does Sony really have talented people who are every bit their equal? I mean, didn't GeoHotz get the keys because the random keys aren't all that random? That is what I read anyway and I don't recall much of it, but I remember it sounding as if Sony made a stupid mistake.

Yeah I agree, his egotism is a key cause of all this. But I think the way Sony was going after anyone connected to him meant they were bound to catch this sort of attention.

Which was more to the do with the fact that it had a slow initial adoption, especially in markets where piracy was rampant (Russia, Middle East, Asia) and that it had a non-standardised media format that isn't easy to duplicate, than some amazing unseen ability Sony has to defy hackers.

Because the obvious counter example is the PS2 or the PSP.

[QUOTE="incuensuocha"]People actually believe these hackers are the smartest and best at what they do. They're well known because they do their thing outside the lines, but Sony has plenty of talented people who are every bit their equal. Sony knows what they're doing and I think they've handled this entire matter appropriately. "Sony's in trouble because X hacker is after him." BS, Sony is fine and they'll continue to be fine.Hexagon_777

Does Sony really have talented people who are every bit their equal? I mean, didn't GeoHotz get the keys because the random keys aren't all that random? That is what I read anyway and I don't recall much of it, but I remember it sounding as if Sony made a stupid mistake.

Well it took them long time since 2006 so it cant be that bad. But again I dont know much about the security of the ps3.
