Yesterday, SEGA announced that Virtua Tennis 3 will be the first game to support native 1080p resolution. But today, an Electronic Arts representative revealed to Gamasutra that NBA Street Homecourt, which ships a month earlier than Virtua Tennis 3, will also support native 1080p at 30 fps, in addition to other resolutions.

NBA STREET Homecourt merges legendary playgrounds with the hometown courts of your favorite NBA stars, featuring 360 degrees of view. Plus, the NBA's best players are all rendered in meticulous detail, making true athlete likeness a reality and putting you up close and personal with every move and moment. Garner respect as you progress along your hometown journey and become a legend.

NBA STREET Homecourt was developed by EA Canada and is rated “E” by the ESRB. The game is scheduled to ship for the Xbox 360 on February 20

just let them make the best games they can in 720P for now. 1080 p just means it will have less quality textures here and there or slower framrates.

1080p to me=Pointless. Continue you making games in 720p. That's the definition they should be played at "this" generation.

I very much enjoy playing NBA Street with my brother. It reminds us of the good 'ol days of playing NBA JAM back on the SNES.

Even though there are few 1080p sets that support component some do.  Also the 360 can do full 1080p w/ component and VGA.

IGN : Does the Xbox 360 have the internal bandwidth between CPUs and graphics processors necessary to move a full 1080p image? There's a big difference between 1080i and the 3GB/s of 1080p.

Microsoft: *updated* Yes, the Xbox 360 has the necessary internal bandwidth between CPUs and graphics processors to move a full 1080p image.

IGN: There are very few 1080p native HDTVs that accept 1080p via Component connections. The signal will only come in as 1080i and be de-interlaced back to 1080p. How is the 360's new 1080p support, in practical application, going to be any different than what was already possible?

Microsoft:We can offer 1080p support through both the VGA connection and the Component connection.

Nuff said.

No. You can get native 1080p through the VGA cable or component cables. If you really need to, you can convert the signal to HDMI.

You just contradicted the definition of the word native. If a signal is upscaled, then it's not native.

virtua tennis 3 on xbox 360 1080p native 60 frames per second plus times two anti aliasing, ridge racer 7 has no anti aliasing, so xbox 360 already has ps3 beat.

The fact that the signal exits your Xbox 360 analog, wouldn't converting be pointless
