Or in this case, Anything to do with Megaman.

Seriously this is more effort then what Capcom has put forth in the franchise in almost 7 years.

I'm only bringing this to your attention since this may be yet another case of a cool game getting C&D by a Company so I'd download it now while it's hot.

It's also not a port of an Existing Megaman game. It borrows story plot and bosses from Other Megaman Games, but the Stages are different (due to the layouts being in 3D) and there are Original Animated Cutscenes like the ones from the Trailer.

I recommend checking it out.

They did promote some sort of Megaman X Street Fighter fan game, didn't they?

The same thing goes with even the half-assed PS4 and XONE versions of Mega Man Legacy Collection (I can kind of understand it on 3DS though, the consoles, not so much when you look at MMAC from two gens back).

I've got a friend who emulates John Lennon' singing and guitar-playing really well. He made an EP and it's BETTER than John Lennon.

I also saw Mega Man 2.5D on the Capcom Unity site. It seems like Capcom is one of the few companies that is actually okay with fans using their IP for non-commercial purposes.

They sure did shut down that Resident Evil 2 Remake everyone bragged about.

You mean this?

Resident Evil 2 Fan Remake Project Abandoned at Capcom's Request

I wouldn't call it a shut down. Capcom were impressed with his work, decided to start remaking RE2, and invited him over to discuss it. It seems more like they're using it as a kind of base for the official RE2 remake.

@iandizion713: More like they co-opted the work, rather than shut it down. They used it for their own gain, because they saw some usefulness in it.

I just don't get it. They could have tweaked the graphics and characters a tiny bit and tried to sell this. What is the point?

Put countless hours into a fan made game and what? It gets either taken down or just nets you nothing.

It's unlikely Capcom would take this down, since they promoted it themselves on the Capcom Unity site.

While they could commercialize the game by not using the Mega Man IP, it wouldn't get anywhere near as much attention without it.

@Jag85: thats very true but from my perspective its the difference between getting paid for your effort and *nothing*. They could carve themselves a nice niche releasing their own stuff.

There are just some Projects that are literally just Passion Projects.

Some Games were just made because the Creators WANTED it to be made. There's no Rhyme or Reason to create the game, They just wanted it to exist.

Yeah, some people just aren't interested in the money, but just do it as a hobby.

I will have to check this out, I don't think capcom is going to shut this down, despite peoples completely arbitrary hatred of capcom, they are one of the few companies out there that really do listen to their fans and respect fan made work. They actually endorsed mega man x street fighter which is a super cool thing to do, brought in the fan creator of re 2 remake to work on an official project, and are very active in tweaking street fighter in order to please its fanbase.

Compare actions like these to what the scumbags over at companies like Nintendo do and becomes pretty clear that capcom is a company which listens to its fans, even if they make a few missteps here and there.
