Remember when Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was being released? What was the MAIN thing people hated on?The graphics style, of course!"It's kiddy!" was the response...I really think that this game was why Nintendo started being associated with "kiddy"

Then Okami comes out on the PS2.A very similar art style is shown.Cows do not scream "PHAIL!" "Kiddy!"

No.

It's more like "WOW! Awesome game! Great artstyle!" This has plagued me for a while.

Is this hypocrisy, or just difference of opinion? Two solid RPG's with the same art style. One bashed. What's up with that?

Okami and windwaker were miles apart in artstyle, cellshading is not the only thing Okami did.

Okami looks *nothing* like WW. The only similarity is they both have an artstyle.

I hate it when 360 fans judge games without playing them. Dark Cloud 2,Z.o.e, Sly Cooper series used Cel-shading, and no one bashed them. YOu should do some research before making threads like these.

Maybe because WW art style looked like a saturday morning cartoon for kids and Okami didn't. Two games using cell shading does not = same art style.

Little big planet is kiddy? well I guess you can easilly get a toyish feel from it, then again I never had a issue with WW cell shaded style.

It's being hyped to high hell. I've heard some people say it might be GOTY and a AAA title. Yet it's the kiddiest looking game out there, and people still bash the Wii and Nintendo as a whole for being kiddy.

Its called variety. And LBP is being hyped because its innovative. If its all user managed you make the game look how ever you want.

Realistic cloth textures? How does that not make it kiddy? Looks like you're playing with dolls...

If I remember correctly, most people that actually played Legend of Zelda didn't like Wind Waker's art style either. Also, nobody bought Okami. You fail.

Anyway, Okami's art style is completely different from Wind Waker's. Okami is far more artistic.

As a closing note, neither is really a true RPG, not in the traditional sense of one. I mean, I suppose you take on the roles of Okami and Link, but beyond that, they're both fairly lacking in RPG elements.

Lol those games are vastly different. Wind Waker is definitely a kiddy look. Okami is more like a beautiful painting. And come on all the fanboys are really hypocritical. Really lemmings are by far the most..... I mean the term "cow" came from being "milked" with PS2 having add-ons, non standard HDD, and a new version years later.... when 360 does all that and far far worse this gen. Lemming and Cow have really switched their original meanings.

Amen. LoZ: OoT and LoZ: MM were a lot "darker" games than TWW, and the art style didn t really help.

Well I'm no cow but...whats wrong with a game having a childish charm? When I think of kiddy I think of easy games designed for children. I really hate generalization, one person sais a game looks kiddy and it's assume for everyone of a group?

I actually loved WWs style. Colorful things make me happy, which is why Nights into Dreams was one of my most favoritest games ever. FarCry also made me smile but FEAR felt dull. I loved the color of Halo CE but Halo 2 seemed a bit drab.

The KZ games are definitely a turn off for me due to their grey, grey, grey, and blackness. I still haven't finished Liberation yet (although I'm trying).

Thanks all. Though yes, all fanboy groups are hypocritical (cept the sheep...haven't seen them doing anything bad lately).

Finally somebody who thinks like me! I like FPS, but I was really turned off by Gears of War when I played it at a friend's house because of all of the dark colors. It might have also been because we were playing on a 25" 480i SDTV.

You shouldnt quote ithout reading first. I, at no point did not say it did not look like a game for children. I said that it looks nothing like okami or WW. you seem to have confused yourself somwehere along the line. There is nothing wrong with a game which has a childish look to it anyway.
