Who's interested in this? Honestly I feel like it's the 3rd or 4th time they're trying to sell this.

Coming to PS4 and Xbox One. No Switch version announced (isn't it inevitable though?)

Is this really any better than Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on 360/PS3? That had Sonic 3 & Knuckles, although no Gunstar Heroes...

Here's the list of games:

Alex Kidd in the EnchantedCastle

Alien Soldier

Alien Storm

Altered Beast

Beyond Oasis

Bio-Hazard Battle

Bonanza Bros.

Columns

Columns III: Revenge of Columns

Comix Zone

Crack Down

Decap Attack

Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine

Dynamite Headdy

ESWAT: City Under Siege

Fatal Labyrinth

Flicky

Gain Ground

Galaxy Force II

Golden Axe

Golden Axe II

Golden Axe III

Gunstar Heroes

Kid Chameleon

Landstalker

Light Crusader

Phantasy Star II

Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom

Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millenium

Ristar

Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi

Shining Force

Shining Force II

Shining in the Darkness

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master

Sonic 3D Blast

Sonic Spinball

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Space Harrier II

Streets of Rage

Streets of Rage 2

Streets of Rage 3

Super Thunder Blade

Sword of Vermilion

The Revenge of Shinobi

ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron

ToeJam& Earl

Vectorman

VectorMan 2

Virtua Fighter 2

Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair

Wonder Boy in Monster World

Here's the list of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle†
  • Alien Storm
  • Altered Beast†
  • Beyond Oasis
  • Bonanza Bros.†
  • Columns†

  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
  • Dynamite Headdy
  • Ecco the Dolphin†
  • Ecco: The Tides of Time†
  • ESWAT: City Under Siege
  • Fatal Labyrinth
  • Flicky†
  • Gain Ground†
  • Golden Axe†
  • Golden Axe II†
  • Golden Axe III†
  • Kid Chameleon†
  • Phantasy Star II†
  • Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom†
  • Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium†
  • Ristar†
  • Shining Force
  • Shining Force II
  • Shining in the Darkness
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master†
  • Sonic the Hedgehog†
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2†

  • Streets of Rage

  • Streets of Rage 3
  • Super Thunder Blade†
  • Vectorman†
  • Vectorman 2†

It's close. Biggest difference to me is last gen had Ecco and Sonic 3 and Knuckles, this traded those games for Toejam and Earl and Gunstar Heroes.

The lack of Sonic 3 and Knuckles on this new compilation pisses me off a little bit.

Gunstar Heroes is one the Genesis best games.

Toe Jam and Earl is not worth knocking out Sonic 3 though

@drummerdave9099: Agreed. It was one of my favorite PS3 games I owned.

Phantasy Star collection is dope. All I been begging for on my Switch is Phantasy Star, then I could finally put away my DS Lite for good! But somehow.... Nintendo's miserable late VC plans ruins it.

I cant even blame Sega for the Nintendo snub, this smells like Nintendo saying hold the phone and lets charge for them individually.

I have every game already 10X over, but I'll be getting it out of obligation so I can play SoR 2 & 3 for steam online MP. I wish they'd start putting TechnoSoft games on these collections, because not only can I not get enough Thunder Force, but the thought of playing Herzog Zwei online would be amazing.

Whats that you say?! Has this been confirmed??? Streets of Rage and Golden Axe online co-op would secure a 3rd rebuy of this collection.

I already have a ton of those games on XOne, all the Golden Axe games, Streets of Rage, some of them through 360 BC. I doubt I'll get this but only because I already own most of it.

Yeah, it's been confirmed that this collection has online multiplayer. None of the versions on steam have it unlike their XBLA counterparts, so it's the reason I'm using to convince myself to buy these games for umpteenth time lol.

I already have the ps2 and ps3 versions and yet I'll still pick up this version. I'm guessing there's going to be some locked games on this as well like the other versions. Alex Kidd and the Enchanted Castle is a weird choice as it's the worst Alex Kidd game period. They should have went with Miricle World or Lost stars.

I'm sick of all of those games. There's many that weren't even that well received at the time.

Mega Drive had such a rich library. Wish they would mix it up and include some different games.

Definitely, I don't mind them doing these collections - and of course the Sonic games should ALL be there. The 16 bit era is absolutely my favorite. It would be nice if they threw in more variety, rather than just adding or dropping a few around the edges. Why drop any games at all? If the last gen collection had 30 games. This one should have 50. There's alot more they could do. Admittedly I didn't even play ALL of the ones on the last collection anyway, but there's definitely a few games missing from the collection I would have liked to have seen.

A Saturn or Dreamcast collection would be better. With Saturn you can still fit 30+ games just like Genesis (even though technically each game is way bigger than 16 bit era, they were still far less than 1GB each on average fitting on CD's). Obviously the Genesis collection is a joke to just emulate over and over again, but you'd think these other platforms would be at that point by now too.

Companies are really missing the boat by not bringing their games over to the Switch. This would have sold superbly. Basically, the collection would turn the Switch into a modern Nomad. Ah well, I have it on the 360 and only really played it for the achievements.

Do those even look good on modern TVs? There's a lot I would use modern gaming systems for, old school arcade games from the pixelated era isn't one of them. I'd rather just get most of those on my 3DS.

Yeah, the last gen Genesis collection looked pretty good. It was still emulated, but I believe it was running at 720p (or perhaps 1080p?).

16 bit games arguably hold up better than PS1 era games IMO, although I'm not sure any of the PS1 classics were allowed to run 1080p (or even 720p) on any of the PS1 classics. So the comparison might not be fair to the PS1 games.

I cannot get over the blockiness of PS1 era games. After I played OoT3D I could never look at games from that era the same way ever again.
