Another high scoring PC exclusive incoming. The RPG Darkest Dangeon got 9.1 on IGN.

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2016/01/27/darkest-dungeon-review (includes video review O_O)

Verdict:

Darkest Dungeon is a grim and merciless tactical strategy game whose great tension comes from its many layers of complexity, unpredictable randomization, and willingness to put our fragile characters in mortal danger if we dare to venture into its depths in search of treasure and glory. Brilliant narration and stiff yet surprisingly expressive animation make it easy to be drawn into its vague but tantalizing world, though the end feels artificially out of reach.

WHAT IS GOING ON :D PC is on stoppable this year.

Toaster tier exclusives that can be played on your grandmas PC are not real exclusives.

Like they are not worth mentioning as exclusives because every single person on this forum has a PC capable of playing them and like a billion people that not even play games on their PCs.

Maybe good or even great games but as exclusives they are worthless.

Like I already said they are worthless as exclusives not as games themselves.

Exclusives are meaningful if they actually exclude people from playing those games but toaster games like darkest dungeon on PC exclude almost no one with any kind of PC that are capable of running Excel.

Very solid game. Played it since Early Access. It's probably one of the more brutal and sadistic rogue-like games in the last couple years.

Bonus enjoyment if you happen to be a fan of Lovecraftian horror.

Still bothers me that they call the Madness Meter a Stress Meter in this game. Hope a mod comes out to change that. Doesn't feel right in a Lovecraftian game.

You are wrong in this comparison. Consoles are bought primarily for games while a PC is used for a wide range of needs. I have access to this game (Like everyone on this forum) while I generally dont favor PC as a gaming plattform. Exclusives with that are not hardware demanding are worth the exactly the same as big budget games on consoles just because you would need to buy new hardware.

Its about access to those games and the reason they are valued as exclusives.

Since the other one did not reply I will ask you instead. How much is this toaster tier game as an PC exclusive really worth?

So Journey is exclusive because not everyone owns a console so not everyone can play it.

But conversely Darkest Dungeon is worthless because only PC can play it but it is not demanding enough. That is the dumbest walk around about "Exclusives" i have ever heard. Well done. *Slow clap to fade*

Do you mean the cost of the game? or the PC required to play it?

Game is $20 and the PC.... well not much hahah requirements aren't very heavy on this one.

"This game's score doesn't count because I say so."

Wouldn't it be better if:

"This game is good and it runs on toasters. Let see if this goes to other platforms like Minecraft, Shovel Knight and Terraria."

so other players who don't main PC get to play it?

Mr. Deeph, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Many, if not ALL, high-end PC games are also scalable, fyi. So you know, that they can sell it to as many people as they possibly can. Are they all worthless too?

Alot of people post using their phones and tablets now so the assumption that everybody that has access to this forum has access to the game is wrong.

"How much is this toaster tier game as an PC exclusive really worth?" - About as much as any other 'toaster tier game' from PS4, Vita, 3DS, WiiU, etc.

@yanni1: @MonsieurX: @b_rich84: @jereb31: You are calling my statement dumb? Thats rich coming from people that have made zero arguments to contest my perspective other than trying to insult me.

So that we have a mutual understanding. Please answer my questions which should be easy because you guys are so "smart".

Do PC games have a varied scale of exclusivity? If yes, what are some scales and which is is the most fundamental one? What is the measurement of exclusivity for the most fundamental one?

@arunsunk said:

Yeah that came to mind but I dont believe that no one on this forum does not possess a PC capable of running darkest dungeon.

Anyway thats an assumption just like I assumed that everyone on this forum has access to the game. So can you prove that I am wrong? I think not, but I nor you can prove which one is right other than asking everyone on this forum.

"How much is this toaster tier game as an PC exclusive really worth?" - About as much as any other 'toaster tier game' from PS4, Vita, 3DS, WiiU, etc.

Why is that? You made a statement but did not formulate an argument to back it up. BTW all Vita and 3DS games are toaster tier in my eyes (which they definitly are) but they are still more worth than a PC exclusive that in the toaster tier.

@rollermint said:

Scalability is limited and yes over time they will become worthless in a exclusive argument.

@deeph: Exclusivity scale??? What the hell are you talking about, exclusivity is a binary concept, it is or it isn't. If it can only be played on PC the it is exclusive to PC. If it can only be played on conaole then it is exclusive to console.

I wouldnt be to quick to point the finger about making a statement and not backing it up. You havent really made an argument for anything with anything other than a bland opinion so far. Perhaps you should start with formulating your own argument first.

Scalability is limited and yes over time they will become worthless in a exclusive argument.

You do realise that many hermits here own multiple systems right? Right? I've always own consoles but I still regard myself as a hermit since I define PC as the best and my favoured gaming platform, anytime anyday. So I suppose no console exclusives are worth anything since many hermits here actually own consoles so we have access to that. Your definition of System Wars and exclusives are too narrow-minded, unsustainable for any serious argument and not based on reality.

Your second statement...thats just your opinion, dude and holds no water here nor anywhere else due to how weak it is. The PC strongest point has always been its flexibility and wide accessibility, it caters and offers games on all levels and budgets which is defined by PC users. Thats why PC will always have the biggest playerbase, its entry level is actually super low. The only reason why gfx is always on the forefront of arguments in SW is because its the most easily quantifiable subject of comparison across all 3 major platforms.

...That and people like shiny new stuff. Limiting the PC only on one of its myriad of strengths is nonsensical and ridiculous. But feel free to do so cause the PC wins anyway.

System wars or console wars is practically a bragging war. My plattform is more powerfull! My plattform has better exclusives! My plattform has more games! and so on. If you own said plattforms said criterias should not affect you. Then there are fanboys or haters and it does not even matter if you own all plattforms if something good or bad happens to a certain plattform it would still affect them.

Thats my whole point the lower the requirements are the less worthwhile the games are from the exclusive bragging side. Exclude is the synonym to Exclusivity. But who exactly is excluded here with darkest dungeon? People that surfe the internet exclusive on tablets and smartphones? The requirements are so low that those are the only people not able to play this game.

...That and people like shiny new stuff.

Edit: How exactly is my view narrow minded? I actually have a wider view of exclusivity than the people that tried to insult me. They only applied the exclusive argument on the most superficial way. But maybe you are right with that its unsustainable here because said people could not even follow my perspective but it is definitely a reality and applicable in real life.

Okay my original statement was going too far and did not include the core of my reasoning but I followed up on that statement.

Looks like something I'd enjoy on my Vita. Make it happen.

Edit: Oh, it's already announced for PS4 and Vita. Very exclusive I must say.
