I think for me its Halo Reach. I think Halo 3 is an incredible game, and i love every map in the MP. I hate every single map in Reach MP. They feel so uninspired to me. its too bad because i somewhat like the mechanics of the game, but the environments are just so bland i kind of gave up on the game and went back to 3. I still play every now and then, but at this point SSF4 is dominating my free time. I also thought i liked Fable 3 for about 2 hours, then rationality kicked in. (flame shield UP!)

Nope, if I don't like a game I don't like it, nothing I can do about it.

Far Cry 2 - Because Far Cry 1 was so spectacular. But After about 2 hours of playing I gave up.

I do this sometimes; the most recent example being Crysis 2.

I agree with TC on halo reach, I want to like it, but the campaign was pretty lacklustre and there was nothing compelling me to finish it.

I think Mirrors Edge, simply because I'd like to see more of it. And that sometimes its flaws sometimes a result from being my own damn fault.

Did that with Red Dead, and Mass Effect 2.
Also a little with RE5, for a minute, because I was transfixed by Shiva's behind.

I sort of agree with Halo Reach, but I still thought it was an amazing game. It just didn't reach Halo 3's level. However, I also think the same for SSF4. I bought Tekken 6, Blazblue CT & SSF4 all on the same day once & SSF4 was the only one I thought was quite boring & bland, but I tried convincing myself it was the king of all fighters etc.. I just don't get the love for it.

Dynasty Warriors 7 as well. I liked Ninety-Nine Nights (and more recently, Sengoku Basara) so I bought DW7 thinking it was the best, because everything else gets compared to it.. It was one of the most... Awkward(?) games I've played. Everything felt so slow & stiff compared to the 'DW clones' I've played. I tried to like it though, a lot of the characters looked cool & I tried using that to enjoy the game but still failed. I returned it for Sengoku Basara which I found to be much better.

I'd also say God of War 3 also. It was a great game, but I played through the GoW collection & GoW 3 over about 3 or 4 days. It was a mistake because no matter how good the games are, I'd grow tired of playing them for that long, but it didn't help that I thought GoW 2 was better than GoW 3 (despite the amazing visuals). I remember trying to convince myself GoW 3 was amazing despite wanting it to end less than 3/4 through. It's a great game though.

Another game that came to mind is Enslaved. It's got a good story, great production values, and pretty decent gameplay, but I think I was trying to convince myself that I liked it more than I did.

Socom Confrontation. I had fun at first, but I played it for awhile after it started getting boring.

Demon`s Souls. It is really fun, but it is so hard. If I die multiple times in a game, I usually get fed up and shut it off. But you cant do that with DS because you die CONSTANTLY. So even though it is an amazeing game, I hate it. I have to trick myself into thinking I like it, just to pick it up and start playing. Honestly, I play most games for the story. I think video games are just as good a story telling medium as books. So alot of times I play games on easy. That way I get the story, but I don`t get annoyed at the difficulty. So playing such a hard game was a big change for me.

I don't think anyone actually tries to convince themselves to like a game. It's more like they like, but it has some major flaws and the player knows the flaws. For example, take Alpha Protocol. Supposedly has a great story and some great RPG elements. However the shooting mechanics and controls are very clunky.

I don't try to convince myself I like it, rather I keep trying to give MGS4 a chance. Every time I pop it in I hope I'll finally understand what all the love is about, but every time I turn it off thinking, "I don't get it."

Because DMC1 and DMC3 are so great, I really tried to dig Devil May Cry 4, but I couldn't. It was just so boring and stale and after awhile I stopped playing it.

Not a bad game by any means, just a very tired one.

I hate it when I buy a game at full price and then don't like it. So the only games I do that for are sequels that I know I will like and for others I wait for a price drop or play it at a friends first.

I have tried this many times. I try to tell myself that Gears 1 is amazing. But I can't help but wonder how the game got tons of GOTY awards and so many rave reviews. I did the same with Red Dead Redemption which was an incredibly dull game compared to GTAIV in my opinion. I tried to tell myself that InFamous was such a great game but I got halfway through and stopped playing for months. Kept telling myself it was meh. Played it again recently and now I love it. So I guess it was kind of a reverse effect for me when it came to InFamous.

I did it with Super Mario Galaxy and SMG2. I finally just had to admit that both games are pretty bad.

Heavy Rain is amazing, it does a great job of doling out the heartbreak and letting you choose how it goes, but the plot holes and vaguely European voices are really, really hard to ignore. It makes me hate the game (for a dumb reason, I know), but I tell myself that those are small potatoes compared to the rest of this amazing game.

I can really only name Ico. I tried three times to play the game and like it, tried to appreciate the design and world. Didn't work, needless to say, I just find it utterly boring and almost unplayable.

Shadow of the Colossus is a game I love, but I can't bring myself to play.

Its amazing, its beautiful and its probably the best represenation of games as an artform that we have, but the controls haven't aged well by the time I got around to playing it and I just really, really want to fall in love with it like Yahtzee and many others. For now though, I simply respect and admire the game for what it does, but I sadly am incapable of love apparently.

hmm, I wouldn't say that, BUT sometimes the fun I have with the game is greater than it should be, or that I know I want to give it a higher rating than it deserves. Mass Effect 1 and 2 come to mind with this. I had tons of fun, but there is so much wrong with them.

People with a 360 don't have time for this, they have been playing their console with working online and better exclusives for a long time now.

Is that why you gave SMG2 a 9.0? I somehow doubt you played either of them, anyway...

Ninja Gaiden sigma 2 coming from black, I just felt like I needed to like the sequel. In reality though, the game's a step back from the previous game. Bayonetta, Hailed as the best/revolutionary hack and slash game of the generation thus far, but it felt very mediocre to me.

PS3 owners have had online since two weeks after the hack. And the 360 only has the better shooter exclusives (Halo, Gears). PS3 has much better exclusives in every other genera (Infamous, Uncharted, Demon`s Souls).

I tried to convince myself that I was into racing sims for a while, but it just didn't work out. They suck. I hate them. I want crazy, exaggerated, arcade racers where I can sling around a turn without slowing down too much. If I wanted a realistic driving experience I can go crank up one of the two beaters in my driveway and make a day of it. lol

Basically any strategy game outside some RTS's here and there.

Oh, and the above poster reminded me of basically any realistic simulator that isn't Richard Burns Rally.
