I can't wait for the game. Why haven't there been any threads for it. It is an obvious GOTY contender.

I'm neither excited for the game, nor the prospect of paying over $150 to play the entire story... or even $180 given Activision's advent of $60 PC games.

With cutscenes as cool as this its hard not to be hyped.

Not enough RTS games do story/characters well, some do like World in Conflict and Company of Heroes, and SC2 looks like it will be another if not the best.

Given both Modern Warfare's $60 price tag, and WoW Burning Crusade's and Wrath of the Lich King's $50 "expansion" prices... I highly doubt we'll see $20-30 expansions from Blizzard for their next big game, especially considering how much it will sell, even if it were $150 a piece. Not to mention they might also institute a "monthly fee" for using Battle.net as well.

I'd say I was interested in the game, but only if its release and infrastructure was like the originals. Blizzard has really changed a lot since then... and I'm not comfortable seeing the game come in three pieces.

Didn't both the WoW expansions retailed for 39.99$? 60$ was the normal price for WC3 when it retailed. I'm not joking. Nothing has changed since then :P.

They also said there will never be a fee to user battle.net 2.0. You guys just seem to be hanging on to rumors :O. I read every interview available out of Blizzard and they've said numerous times that they won't charge for it and that SC2 is appropriately priced....like WC3 was.

Searched it up and found it cheap too, I don't why I don't play these games, even though I heard of them years ago. Oh right, I'm not huge on RTSs, but I do play a decent amount, should give it a shot.

I hate most RTS games, but I really like Starcraft and Warcraft.

Warcraft 3 is a great game to start off on. I recommend starting off on the singleplayer then messing around online in some of the custom content.

Well, I honestly thought Starcraft was a highly overrated piece of crap anyways(And this is coming from a Warcraft 2/3 addict who also has a passion for Diablo),and Starcraft 2 doesn't look any better, really. You have to buy all the campaigns seperately(so that's, what, $150-180 if you want to play through it all?), and I'm not 100% sure but I heard you have to be signed in to Battle.net even to play it single-player, which doesn't sound like a great idea either. Either way, I hope they make a REAL Warcraft 4 after this. D= I don't care if it brings in money, WoW isn't Warcraaaaaft!

Well, personally I would say Starcraft(obviously! :P),although if RTS isn´t really your thing,Diablo 2 is a great choice. It´s hard to dislike that game. You should remeber though, that both these games are old now,and in some ways not as good as some recent ones(mainly in the graphical department),although to me they are,but I can see that someone who hasn´t played them at the time of their release would think otherwise.

Warcraft 3 is a great choice as well, although I can´t really recommend it myself since I´m not a big fan of it.

This is why I recommended Warcraft 3 first. It's a bit more up to date for some who hasn't grown up or played the earlier Blizzard games for years. It's pretty easy to delve into and have a good time. Though I think Starcraft 2 is going to put a nail in the coffin to all the previous....

"Never say never" and I choose what I believe to be "appropriately priced" and for what SCII is probably going to cost, that is far beyond what I want to pay for ONE game, or even one game with expansions. I bought the StarCraft BattleChest in 1999 or 2000 for $60 CAD...

I do. I much prefer the original honestly.

WarCraft 3 is a great place to start. It's the most recent of their games (not counting WoW), and it's a lot of fun. There's a ton of value in the singleplayer alone. I also cannot recommend StarCraft enough. While it is a little dated (especially visually) the story and campaign modes are excellent, and Battle.net hosts hundreds of thousands of matches a day.

I'll agree that it is possible that Blizzard could rip us off. But I'm willing to wait until the reviews come out and see if it justifies the content. For now, it's hypothetical that the trilogy is a scheme to rip players off; but it might actually bring so much content at a good price that they aren't. We just have to wait and see.

No. I've played RTS games before which means i have played Starcraft 2. It looks totally average from the gameplay videos. Also, i'm not paying $60 for 1/3 of a game just so Activision can take more of my money. They have had years upon years to make the full game and they can easily put it all into one package, but they chose not to so they can take more of your money. People hate on $15 map packs for COD because Activision is "greedy", yet splitting one game into three so they can take your money is okay according to those who support the 1/3 of a game idea. Having long campaigns doesn't justify making you buy three separate items. They try to justify the $60 price tag AND 1/3 of a game by trying to tell us that they are long and have lots of content, and i just don't think that is a good enough reason.

I don't mind the graphics, I still play games older than that game, and I'm known to accept a game for what it was during it's time so I shouldn't have problems adjusting to it. I usually have a nostalgia feeling after all.:P

That´s a good thing to have;) Honestly,Starcraft+Brood War,Diablo 2+ Lord of Destruction and Warcraft 3+ Frozen Throne are all pretty cheap these days, you can pretty much get them all for the price of a full game,or even less. And that´s a great thing in my book :D
