I was duped into a Saturn by Sega's ... well... I dunno, I just always liked Sega. My first playstation is what made me hate Sony, came out of the box broken.

Hehe. I think I would have to agree with the mid-school definition. At least for my generation(early 20s) the Nintendo, SNES, and Genesis is old-school(maybe even going back to at least the Sega Master System). I received my first Playstation Christmas of 1997, and then in my sophmore year in high school I got a PS2 around launch. Being a Playstation fan for so long(and loving Square Enix games) I didn't really know what console I was going to get this generation. When KOTOR came out I bought myself a Xbox. Then I started playing Crimson Skies and Halo 2 on Live. The reality of it was the only thing that had been holding me close to the Sony's console was Final Fantasy; and I found that out after getting the first Xbox. I bought a Xbox 360 in 2007, I had no idea Final Fantasy XIII was coming to Microsoft's console. I still thinking about purchasing it for the Playstation 3(and Sony's console); we'll see.

Started off with the lovely Playstation 2. The very first console I got was the Sega Dreamcast. Not an original PS owner, but I sure am a proud one.

The PS1 had the best of the Final Fantasies. FFX was a bit iffy... but it was ok. Post XI didn't really have much Final Fantasy in them... that's why I loved my PS1.

I was an PSone owner. In fact, that's when I really started to pick up gaming as a hobby instead of just something to do. I didn't hit my stride of gaming until the next generation (6th) though.

The PS1 had the best of the Final Fantasies. FFX was a bit iffy... but it was ok. Post XI didn't really have much Final Fantasy in them... that's why I loved my PS1.

Don't tell that to some of the FF fans who played FF on the NES and SNES first. They won't be happy to hear that.

I'm a huge playstation fan got my psx back in the fall of 1996(my second one in like 1998 when my first died). bought a ps2 jan 2001 and a ps3 in nov 2007. I'm a huge playstation supporter and gamer in general but I always have a playstation system(I've also owned a n64, dreamcast and xbox in that timeframe and a snes and nes before that). I just feel sony's systems have the best mix of genres in their library(the 360 this gen currently has that but the ps3 is quickly catching up and while I still have a warm spot in my heart for the nintendo franchises it doesn't justify paying for a overpriced GC in my mind).

Anyway back to topic the psx in my mind is probably my favorite system; final fantasy 7-9, mgs, castlevania sotn, the crash and spyro games, xenogears, syphon filter series, tenchu, resident evil 1-3, fear effect, chrono cross, arc the lad, tomba, and many othe games that are considered classics for the era. I know some people will argue the snes and nes were better and I say its a valid argument but in my mind the psx beats those systems even if not by much.

Yup. Me and my brother got a PS1 for christmas back when it launched. It came with "Tunnel B1", "Battle Arena Toshinden 2", some tennis game, a really cool pinball game and one more which I can't remember.

It was once we got this console that I properly became a gamer. We had a Snes and Megadrive, which I played a lot, but it wasn't until we got our Playstation that I started buying my own games, buying magazines and stuff.

It's easily the best console I've ever owned. That entire generation is my favourite. The N64 and PS1 provided me with insane amounts of fun, and I was still young at the time, so I had plenty of time to game.

I miss those days... :(

I got mine when FFVII came out, then I brought it to college and it was the single reason I almost never went to class. Too many people stopping by to get blazed then smacked in Tekken or Faceoff '98. I took some time off, I'm a much better student now!

PSX was the best sony console by far! PS2 was great but IMO not better than Xbox.

Anyway, old school means ZXSpectrum, Commodore amiga, 8bit and 16bit consoles in my gaming history ;)

I've been gaming since Atari. I was actually on board with N64 when that came out, then moved more so over to the Playstation. I'm definitely more of a PC gamer now though.

Yes, too many great PS1 games to count. Classics like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy Tactics, Einhander, Valkyrie Profile, R-Type Delta, Vagrant Story.... Le sigh. The PS3 will never be able to live up to the PS1 (or the PS2, for that matter) in terms of software. :(
