I think that they should be angry. However, at the moment, when I check the internet, I have discovered the following:
1. There has not been a $399 PS3 40gig announced for the US
2. The 80 gig is still $599
3. The 60gig clearance model is still $499
Not much has really changed, but if it does I would hate to be one of those who bought the system earlier and lost out on saving $200.
That's like asking Elite owners if they're angry that they had to spend $170 more than they had to while they could've gotten the Core.
The $400 PS3 =/= the $600 PS3.
No.... the 60 gig has the BC I want. Got it right after launch. Not even really mad it dropped to $500 since it was obviously neccessary.
40GB version is a good thing since more people will buy it... anyone who buys a system has to know it's going to get a price drop at some point. Just be glad its happening so soon.
No. Any idiot knows price drops will come..nothing new
Now i see some lemmings are angry for 60GB owners but they eben own a PS3 lol
3. The 60gig clearance model is still $499

Yeap...60 gig models are still available. I guess the $100 didn't do much for sales.
But the castrated $400 model is going to sell like hotcakes.
Poor Cows, let them dream. The sad thing is that most of their dreams are turning into Sony nightmares this gen.:o
It sucks to be a Cow.

well, you know how it is. Doesn't matter how shallow, lacking, limited, or misleading a product is, it will sell as long as it's cheap.
Your posts always seem to be more about hating Sony as a company than liking either the 360 or Wii more than one of the other consoles.Yeap...60 gig models are still available. I guess the $100 didn't do much for sales.

I'm angry I didn't just wait until the PS3 60 GB dropped to $500.
Oh well I guess....hind-sight is 20/20 is what they say...
Show me the previous console that cut 1/3rd of the price in less then a year.Is everyone getting dumber or what? Early adopters of any product pay the maximum price (HDTV's, Bluray, HDDVD, Digital Camcorders, etc). Since when has this trend became something new?

No, the 40GB is a watered down PS3, I don't buy halfass systems. I am mad that I'm sitting here waiting for some good online games thoughlogan493Warhawk?

There is very little to like about Sony as a company...and there's even less to like about the PS3 as a console.
At least I don't invent or exagerate things like Cows tend to do. I guess the truth hurts.
My "attacks" aimed at Sony are based on facts, not Sony fanboy fantasies (can you say mooooo?),
no not really, thats how it is getting any launch system at launch.
i have enjoyed playing many games over the past 9 months, so idc
My brother is pissed he payed 600 dollars for his system and hasn't played it for 3 months.(he also had a Wii) Now they drop the price by 200 dollars and he's just began to enjoy the system. He keeps saying, "If only I waited a little longer." Anyone else feel like my brother feels?Frostbite24
If only he waited longer his car would have cost less, his clothes would have been on sale, oh, and technology would be cheaper.
If your brother doesn't understand that waiting means a consoles price comes down, then he clearly doesn't understand how life works.

Yeah, and if his brother was stupid enough to buy a PS3 in the first place, he deserves all the pain and suffering he gets.
Heck, even if someone buys this clunker at $400, they will deserve all the pain, suffering and waiting they will surely experience.
Everyone here has missed the TC's main point, which isn't the price drop itself. It is the experience offered at the different price points. He is saying that the next gen PS3 experience offered at $600 when the console launched is the same next gen PS3 offered today at $400.
Implicit in his topic is that the next genexperience offered to early adopters was not worth the $200 premium paid and that he would rather have waited, saved the money and get the same experience today.
Comparing this to the 360 or Wii is futile, as it is widely accepted that both consoles gave value to the early adopters. It is also widely accepted that the PS3 has been nearly negligent in its next gen software offerings to early adopters. This is industry opinion, not mine.

And I'm sure in a year or 2 there will be a PS3 version at $199. But the people who enter then will have waited a long time. To me it's worth the extra money to not wait and to have a better PS3 for the more money.

Yeah, I agree with that.
I would rather spend $100 more and get the 60gig units which are still available.
The fact that the 60 gig models have not sold out should be cause for concern.
When are the cheaper PS3 supposed to be released in the States?

The vast majority of people who own next gen consoles aren't aware of BC. That goes for 360 and PS3. The fact that you do find value in that and place value in the extra 20 gigs is a good thing. If that enhances your experience as an early adopter, then it was worth it.
But you're missing the point again with your "in a year or 2..." statement. The point is, right now the PS3 is becoming a console that is starting to have a respectable liabrary. Up until this point, it has had a couple of exclusives and a library that consists of ports, of which better versions are found elsewhere. So, from the timeframe of release until now the PS3 has maintained a status quo of mediocrity with poor software sales. Unless, like yourself, you used the PS3 as a PS2 and needed 20 extra gigs, paying for a $600 machine at launch would roughly give you the same PS3 experience when buying a PS3 at $400 when it is released.
Basically, was paying $600 at release worth playing RFoM, HS and NGS a few months or weeks early?
