Any ps4 owners skipping Last of Us 2?

I'm on the fence. I don't play my ps4 as much as I did at the beginning of gen, but i also have never wanted a sequel to the last of us. I've always said it should be left alone to be a Mona Lisa in gaming. The game was so satisfying it didn't need a sequel.

Anyway, we're getting closer and now I'm feeling even more like I just don't want to muck up the experience I had in the first game for a sequel that wasn't necessary, but money.

Anyone else feel the same, or is there a game or franchise that you just don't think should've been sequalized based on the greatness of the first?

I probably will and then just play it on the PS5. Not too sure yet.

PS4 sucks. I'm waiting for PS5 to play any more PS-only games.

Nah and honestly i cant get into the original, too slow paced, i have the remaster on PS4 every time i try to play it i end up switching to something else

Depends on how Sony handles backwards compatibility. Am I going to get a far superior experience by just owing a PS5? Or do I need to rebuy the game.

I did enjoy TLOU when it came out on June 2013 during PS3 final year before PS4 arrival. Any Sony fan knew there was going to be a sequel to TLOU and that was a given. I'm not really hype for it, but I will buy it day one nonetheless.

To tell you the truth, I was hoping for a sequel at the time right after I played Left Behind DLC but at the same time, I really wish Naughty Dogs wouldn't reused Joel & Ellie, those two already told their story, it would have been nice if ND went with new characters & new setting in TLOU2. I was upset they were going back to Joel & Ellie.

At this point @TheEroica I'll pick up any PS4 exclusives games as of now and don't care for cross-gen versions PS5 anyways. Considering I'm no longer apart of their target audience, I really don't care about the PlayStation brand anymore which sucks, because I've been with Sony since the PSX era.

TLOU is (perhaps) my favorite game of the PS3 era. And I'm not a graphics fiend, so yeah, not waiting for next gen. Day one on PS4.

@r-gamer: @pyro1245: I own a ps3 and ps4 copy of last of us. I honestly don't think the experience was better on improved hardware. It all felt the same. I think i beat it twice on ps3 and twice on ps4.

After UC3, I decided not to play anymore ND games, I don't like their gameplay. Still don't feel thee need to go back

Same, I own it both PS3 (beat it 3 times) & PS4 (beat it 3 times) but at the same time, even by playing it on PS4, I was getting alot of framerate drops. Couldn't stayed locked in 60fps.

I'm skipping it. I have my Pro and I haven't even touched it since Days Gone. Been debating on just selling it to be honest and waiting to see how the Playstation 5 turns out and how backwards compatibility will play.

@davillain-: yep, same... Plus, it was a new generation and all the games were improved graphically. I'd say it had the most graphical impact on the ps3 if anything!

Not only am I playing it, I purchased the Ellie Edition and the limited edition Dark Horse statue. I suppose I'm something of a super fan. I'm confident there is more story to be told and am thrilled it's from Ellie's POV too as I feel her story was largely left incomplete.

I'm pretty sure this is going to turn out to be Sony's biggest game yet.

TLoU2 will most def be 30fps on the ps4. I'm hoping for a 60fps option on ps5. So my PS gaming is mostly on hold until a new platform.

We shall see. In any case I'm not too worried about waiting. I'm so often an early adopter of new things, sometimes it's nice to wait until they work better. I'm going to try to wait until a few revisions of ps5 come out as well. Waiting is always easier said than done, however.

Oh hell yeah bro. TLOU2 is going to be the greatest most epicest most amazingest game of the entire freaking gen.

Five years ago, I'd be all over it, but now, I can easily wait for it to come out on PS5. I don't need to have games day one anymore. Well, maybe Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Yeah I found the same thing even after 4 hours of playing.

I'll probably pick it up. not really excited for it though. Just not a fan of Naughty Dog in general and how far up their own asses they seem to be.

that and TLOU was not particularly fun to play, though it had a good story. they seem to prioritise presentation over everything else which doesn't typically make for enjoyable gameplay.

It won't be day one for me. I loved the first one but the second just looks like a massively over the top SJW statement with a bit of shooting to move the 'message' along.

That's not really what I buy videogames for. The first one was a masterpiece though, it will be interesting to see if the sequel reaches the same dizzy heights, I seriously doubt it from the garbage they've shown so far. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

I will skip it on PS4 and wait to play it properly on PS5 at a higher frame rate.

It needs better gameplay and less cutscenes.

Gameplay looks great and the graphics too as for the characters and story I really don't care that much the first game was filled with predictable zombie cliches I will pick it up though for the gameplay.

It's an interesting question... I was talking to my cousin about this the other day. He is a MASSIVE Last of Us fan (it's easily his fav game of all time - he has statues & even a poster signed by Troy Baker etc).

But he is genuinely worried about this sequel. Part of him obviously wants to play it, but there's a bigger part of him that is worried that it won't live up to his expectations and kind of soften his love for the first game. So I think he's slightly on the side of the fans who would've preferred if it stayed a standalone title. But it'll be interesting to see what he does/how he reacts.

Will definitely pick it up close to launch. Played the first one recently ( for the first time) due to it being free on ps4+/gold or whatever it is called and much to my surprise I really really loved it! And I think the uncharted games are the most overhyped trash on PlayStation...

I probably should play the first one first, been hearing from a few people it's pretty good...not in any rush though.

I still haven't played the first one, might just wait for a PS5 remaster collection.

Yeah, this game is going to be massive. I expect it to have one of the biggest impacts on gaming next year.

The best game in the last 10 years was TLOU. I will get it albeit on a discount. It is hard to pick anything up after finishing it just last month. I have had the game for years but got bored and powered through it. Great game!

I'll get it at launch if there isn't another game i want to play more in that month, if there is i will wait.
