I mean I'll totally rent it, the single-player will be fun to play through.

However, the game is so identical to RE4 it's kind of lame, and definately not worth $60 IMO. "Why mess with something that isn't broken", I know I know. But RE5 really takes that saying to an embarassing level, and it's a shame because the franchise had so much more potential after RE4.

Anyone else with me? Or is it basically agreed that RE5 is gonna be TEH BESTSST GAME EVAR OMG GRAPHIXXX!!!1

sounds like you need to stop buying sequels then, cus RE5 is more of a step forward than Geow 1 to geow 2(which play almost exactly the same) or call of dut, or halo3

I was very dissapointed in GeOW2 as well, but no not all sequels are like that.

GeoW2 is relevant to this thread how? I don't like how they added in those whole co-op thing, that part of it just really turns me off from the game. I'd rather just be playing as Chris without Sheva tagging along messing me up. I don't really like the setting either, but that said, i haven't played the whole game yet. I'll probably buy it, but i might not like it as much as RE4.

There are a few posters that have this sentiment, but only for RE5. Is it because it's NOT on Wii? Are we seeing NIntendo fans angry that RE5 has bybassed the machine, since it lacks in nextgen power?

In any event, what you are saying is HALO 3, MARIOKART, GeoW2, ROCKBAND 2, and many other games are a shame...and that's just not the case.

This is NOT the same game, it's RE5, and until you beat it, and post the same thing, your post won't be relevant.

I'll rent it, I loved RE4's controls for the Wii, but it just felt kinda weird in the 360 demo. Should in an entertaining experience anyway.

Why are you bringing fanboy issues into this thread 0_o ? I'd said I'd rent the game because it's clearly going to be fun to play through.

Halo 3, MarioKart, and GeOW2 all changed very little. They kept to the same formula that was proven to be fun. It's just a shame that we aren't seeing bigger changes. Because while RE5 will most likely be more fun to play than RE4, it could of been so much more IMO -- and that's a shame.

lol. What fanboy issues, when you said, "TEH BESTSST GAME EVAR OMG GRAPHIXXX!!!1"?

Look, you want bigger changed, but it seems to me you are new to the gaming world, or at least to RESIDENT EVIL.

Resident EVIL 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, 0, and REmake all played the same.

Then Resident Evil 4 came along...and you SUDDENLY  want Resident Evil 5 to be vastly different?

Capcom struck gold, and just like any company, they are going to at least see some returns on this new RE as long as they want. This is the first TRUE RE4 sequel, and if you didn't know, RE4 DREW in more fans, so it only makes sense to appease the new fans along with the old.

On top of that, CAPCOM is juggling a new engine, so tackling a new engine AND new scheme is just crazy talk.

When RE4 came along, they already had PLENTY of practice that gen...think abou it that way.

The Wii is the Wii, also. I just wanted to say that. No Wii RE5 for you. Capcom knows that RE4 debuted on the Gamecube, then a PS2 version came along with more weapons, missions, and outfits.

Anyone saying it was "odd going back to twin analogs" waited too long to play RE4 in the first place, or desperately wanted to play an easier version of RE4 on Wii. RE5 wasn't designed for those waiting on Wii, but rather the people that bought it launch day for Gamecube/PS2.

I enjoyed RE4, and I played the RE5 demo, but it just didn't grab me. It felt weird going back to dual analog and it was essentially the same game. Nothing really new.

What is going to be funny is when they "reboot" the series with RE6 and alienate all the action-centric gamers who came to love the series through RE4.

The game is very different from RE4, story looks amazing and powerful. I have been hyping RE5 for a while then when the demo was released I was sceptical because I really did not care for the A.I. partner. Then I played online co-op and relized the game is amazing with someone that knows what they are doing (played one other time and got paired up with a moron that got killed instantly because he dicided to stand in front of the chainsaw guy).

As far as survival horror games go I honestly think RE5 is more of a step away from what made RE4 so great. It's more of gears clone with gimped controls.

ya that the big problem that i have with re5.. i hyped an all untill i heard about the co op// ill tell you this much tho there will be probably zero amount of fear you will get playing it because you will always have some one right next to you..plus. if you pklay by the game by your self. chances are the co op buddy will play dumb and or , you could get hooked up online with a crappy player.

I wasn't interested in RE until 4 actually, so yes maybe I am expecting to much from the developers. I don't blame them for wanting to milk their formula as much as possible, it's a business after all.

Blizzard changed Warcraft's gameplay with WC3 almost completely, while still "juggling" a new engine. So maybe I'm not so crazy to expect other developers to try similar things.

Well, History shows that Capcom operates the way most console devs operate, like I described above. Blizzard didn't jump as far as you think, they did plenty of games inbetween, which threw you off....and they are a PC Dev now.

Remember, Blizzard is different than Capcom.

I honestly wouldn't care in the slightest for shooter gamers if they did do that and RE went back to it's roots instead, it would be better if anything. All these shallow shooter fans get there fair share of games. True survival horror games are virtually none existance at the moment.

I'm just talking about the WC2 - WC3 jump, which was pretty significant. What does the other games that Blizzard made have anything to do with WC3?

and I know Blizzard doesn't equal capcom, I was just attempting to give an example to use as comparison, since you said my expectations were unrealistic. I guess they are just unrealistic for Capcom, glad we figured it out.

Well Capcom seem to label RE4 & 5 as survival horror which only makes me assume theres survival horror and then theres those true survival horror games that got long since forgotten. As a shallow survival horror game, RE4 was good in it's own way sort of. I honestly think basing off the demo, RE5 dumbs down certain aspects that where in RE4. Like the inventory system, the co-op feels somewhat tacked and only drains whatever horror this game was trying to ensue, and the Africa setting just isnt appealing at all in the slightest.

man, a reboot wont be that much of a change. I thought it's a reboot in the story and not the gameplay, at most they might return to the servival horror formula. then again this was just a PR person talking (or a developer or something), when the execs come in and say stick to the damn formula, you stick to the damn formula.

Anyone who has spent time with one of the older Resident Evil's, a Silent Hill or Fatal Frame will tell you with a straight face that RE4 and 5 are not survival horror at all. The lack the two main requirements to be considered one... survival (lack of ammunition, limited resources) and horror (straight up gore and jump scares are not as horrific as the kind of things Pyramid Head does).

It's a definite buy for me since I'm a sucker for collectors edition's. But I feel the same way some other people do. I'm not too hyped for some reason and I love the Resident Evil series. Even though RE4 was a major change too the series, it was almost gaming perfection. Anyways it's Capcom. They'll deliver like they usually do.

I'm in that boat. I played Re4 something like 16 times, around there, and i'm just not that into RE5....AAllxxjjnn
Same, and I think they ruined the game with the co-op element, it's bad enough having to manage your own inventory without managing someone elses, and it makes for infuriating things, like when the chainsaw guy killed her instantly about 3 times because she got stuck behind something...

I feel the same. I'll eventually get it but not until it drops price. I'm tired of paying for a game I basically already own with the only difference being prettier graphics and less gameplay features

II love all of the RE games, and I was very hyped for RE5 untill I played the demo. I'll probably just rent it to get the story. its become an action game with bad action... therefore.. its a bad game

Rent is not an option for me here in the Philippines.

I'm gonna buy the game when the price climbs a little down.

Not that I was a huge fan of resident evil before RE4 (still not a huge fan), I've never even beaten any of them, but I enjoyed what I played of code veronica moreso then RE4, obviously control scheme and such were better on RE4, but it lacked some of the soul of the franchise. RE5 doesn't seem to be doing anything to get back this soul, and I was going to sweep it under the carpet, but once I played the demo, and did some of the co-op, I found it to be a lot of fun, not the kind that would make me do a day one buy, but enough that I eventually plan to get it.

Never understood the huge Resident Evil 4 fanbase, it also only scored 0.1 higher then Code Veronica anyway, no huge feat.

I'm not really interested in the whole co-op thing. I don't like how your AI buddy steals your ammo and does nothing helpful. To me, it should of stayed one person, cause if you want to play with others play Multiplayer or something like Halo. I don't think co-op fits into this genre IMO and I'll just be playing single. That's how I enjoy my games the most.

only on the internet and on some paid off gaming magazine you will find people praising RE4. I have a lot friends who play games, some casuals some hardcore, and they all thought RE4 was trash. I guarantee the sales of RE5 will be the lowest of the series

Well, you haven't tried the co-op properly then, I played it with a family member, and the way we exchanged ammo and covered each other's backs was pretty awesome, its not the same as like Halo or something.

as I said in toher thread: what I hate in re5 it's the sunny environment, the fact that yhe AI is even dumber and specially that this game is another "action" game, not the horror genre that it used to be

As disappointed as I was with RE4, I can't bring myself to miss out on RE5. I've been playing the series for too long to stop now.

Not really interested cause I don't find the main character appealing, but I'll still get the game though.

Yup, CO-OP. Thats the biggest thing RE5 is going for and its the only thing making me buying the game.
