Any of you ever been scared of a game???

I was reading some posts in the Bioshock board and some people are too afraid to play it.....i couldnt believe that....they had guides on how to play it so it wouldnt be "scary"

I have never been scared by a game in my entire life....i dont even understand how you could be scared of a game....

Ive played Silent Hill, some of the Resident Evils, Viva Pinata, and Ive never been scared in my life...

Any of you ever been scared?? What exactly were you afraid of?? I think the entire concept of being scared by a game is kind of ridiculous, but thats just me....

The only game I've ever been scared of is half Life 2. First time I played Ravenholm. That whole place gave me the creeps. And the eerie music didn't help. I still loved every inch of it though.

Actually, I have been scared by a game. Both times were in Vampire: Bloodlines. First time was when I was investigating the Ocean Hotel, the haunted place where you have to search for a necklace. Well, there is a sequence where a whole lotta lightning blow out some lights in the hotel. At that same moment, two lights burnt out on my ceiling fan in my kitchen.

Next time was when I was suppose to pick up a video tape at a studio. I went through the door and on the way up the stairs, something burst out of the door that was hideous looking and it made me jump out of my seat. I was very uncomfortable fighting these things, because they had really startled me.

Actualy yeah, I was scared of a game and scared by. When playing doom 3 for the first time, it was hard for me to go on. Later on, though, I memorized the patterns of the game and it didn't seem as scary anymore.

Anyone who says they've never been scared by a game have never played Alien vs. Predator 2, the only game that has made me scream like a little girl.

Condemned. Play at night, by yourself, and with sorround sound if you can. Then load the Department Store level.

System Shock 2 is one of the scariest games of any generation. I encourage anyone to find and play that game, if for anything else but just the atmosphere presented.

The only game that has ever really kept me up is REmake, that game was horrifying for me back in the day. BioShock (the demo) wasn't scary IMO, but I'm pretty sure it has plenty of surprises when it comes out, I hope I do get scared! :D

Yes, the remake of Resident Evil on the GC.

Once Lisa Trevor appeared, I was paranoid constantly that she was around, and she scared the daylights out of me. Guess it goes to show a game like that can havegreat Atmosphere that draws you in.

Resident Evil 4 actually gave me a few scares, most notably around the castle sewers, dog maze, and any part of the military base with Regenerators. I saw my brother play through those parts and he died many horrid deaths. I pretty much avoided the game for a few days until I had the guts to kill them.

I was playing a dungon in Oblivion with tons of Zombies, Skeletons, and scary music. It was a very long one and I got about half way thourgh, then loaded an auto save before I ented the dungon, it just scared me...

Of course this was midnight with no lights and Sournd Sound on, and all that.

Other than that... no, the only one that came close was RE4, but it didnt really.

After playing Fatal Frame I was freaked out. I had nightmares. Which is why I kept going back to it. I love freaky games and that's the freakiest I've played. It scared the **** out of me. When I was waliking down the street late at night in the dark after plying that game I was listening for ghosts and every sound I heard I quickly glanced that way to make sure it wasn't what I thought. I want the next version of Fatal Frame ot come out.

I would say the original Alone in the Dark (it was so surreal), Fatal Frame, Silent Hill 2, and Call of Cthulu are the scariest games I've played. The Thief games usually have some pretty freaky parts.

my game glitched on the 4th level. Every time i got to the door right after the fireman where you have to break the lock with a sledge hammer, the entire room would be black and my flashlight wouldn't illuminate anything. I had to return the game before i could get to Bart's Department Store.

also i played that game late at night, am i supposed to get scared at all before the department store? cause i wasn't, still an awesome game.

Well I was just playing Biohshock on my HD Screen with surround sound in complete darkness here in the UK at around 12 midnight.

I'm not sure how to describe it. It's more the culmination of intense suspense and paranoia - Credited by the fantastic level design, art direction, audio styling, atmospheric techniques -. Your hairs on the back of your neck jolt upwards as you turn see the shadow of a splicer around the corner.

It is just brilliant.

Why would it be? It didn't really "scare" me, but Bioshock is intensely atmospheric and it's easy to say how it could freak someone out, with those sights and especially sounds. I played that demo on loud, with headphones, and in the dark, and it was quite an experience. I'd fully expect the full game to give me a couple jolts when I play through it, especially seeing as how it's the pseudo-sequel to System Shock 2.

[QUOTE="Impex"]The Bioshock demo was scary. :shock:_MURS_

Is that a joke?

It was more creeepy/eerie than anything else... It was more like a "Geez, I'm glad I'm not really there" type of feel... Very artistic game from what I saw in the demo... I don't have my 360 up to an HD set yet (still using an old 42 Sony rear Projection... I should hook it up to the HD projector but that requires effort to go through celing tiles... etc...) but full surround sound made the game... creepy... yet, satisfingly artistic... The piano sounds for the menus tops off the mood of the game...

To be honest, parts of Metroid Prime did scare me a bit... There were times you expected something to jump out at you, but it doesn't... Until you finally go through this very small tunnel a second time, and one of the huge OmegaPirates in biostatis awakens and breaks out of it's glass case. That was unexpected since you only ever fought those in wide open spaces...

The last end segment of Super Robot Wars OG2 was a bit freaky... Just because of how insignificant it made us seem...

Doom 3 when I first played it on a new machine on max settings... There was nothing like it before...

Just that later in the game, the "puzzle" solving gets complex, such that you can use whatever you have at your disposal to clear the room, and you can clear the room multiple ways, even ways that the devs haven't discovered yet... Because of the rules of the game world... There was a video that I saw a while back that changed me from a Bioshock apathetic to a Bioshcok wanter...

But Ironically, I still might not get the game until months later...
