Anyone else dissapointed in the Wii so far?

Am I the only one dissapointed in the Wii thus far? For me the Wiimote is not living up to the hype. My XBox 360 easily occupies 95% of my gaming time - and when I do use the Wii it is usually for VC games. There just aren't many good games for the Wii - especially when compared to the XBox 360. The gamecube controller is horrible as well - why did they put that yellow nub on the thing instead of a second analog stick? Twilight Princess is a great game BUT the Wiimote control actually diminishes from the game after you get attacked by the 500th bat and the novelty of swinging the Wiimote around for your sword has worn off.

Once I pick up Ratchet & Clank and a PS3 the Wii may never see action again.

How about Mario Galaxy? If you like platformers...

Yes, without games all consoles are useless, very good point.

I think it's settled that no matter what console you buy you must also buy games.

If you don't buy the software then you'll never get the most out of the hardware.

If he does have those two titles and that's it he has a game that introduces the Wiimote with Wii Sports and a Gamecube game in Zelda.

It's all very clear that the Wii is an overclocked Gamecube, but with worse games. It's a system for casuals, I suggest you sell it and get that PS3 as soon as possible.

I def want to give Mario Galaxy a try. I'm hoping it is much better than Mario Sunshine because I wasn't the biggest fan of that title. I thought the Ratchet and Clank titles were much more fun that Mario Sunshine. Someone mentioned Metroid - for some reason I haven't really enjoyed the 3d metroid titles (Super Metroid on the SNES remains one of my favorite games of all time). I've much preferred first person shooters like Halo, Bioshock and Resistance.

I'm not really disappointed in the games per say, I love Nintendo's go to franchises (Metroid, Paper Mario, Zelda), and look forward to the next iterations (Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, Mario, Fire Emblem). I mean just getting new releases of these franchises is always nice for me.

Having said that I don't really care all that much for the hardware or the control. I haven't played a game yet where I actually thought the controller made it a better experience than what it could have been with a standard controller.

Tack on the relatively weak hardware and I feel let down at times.

Please, just ignore people like him. Clearly, he is unable to see the situation for what it is. That is, unless, of course, he just loves mini-game compilations.

For it's first year I'm actually enjoying it quite a alot. After this year is over I'll already have:

- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

- Super Paper Mario

- Resident Evil 4

- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

- Super Mario Galaxy

- Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

- Zack & Wicki (Possible)

- Fire Emblem (Possible)

In my opinion all of those games are very good, the last two I'll hold off til the review but the rest where no brainers... And with Super Smash Bros. Brawl not TOO FAR off....... Oh and not sure about everyone but I love the Wii's Virtual Console. For example I never played the original Castlevania til a few months ago but that game seriously blew me away, the difficulty was perfect unlike most modern games and every level felt perfect, awesome music, memorable bosses, etc.

Do you really believe that? Last time I checked, the Wii was selling because of its appeal as a novelty. If you were to take the controller out of the equation, where do you think the Wii would be right now? Dead last, that's where. It doesn't have the games, it doesn't have the graphics, and it doesn't have the features to support itself.

Only slightly. After I completed Twilight Princess, I didn't bother buying a game until RE:4 came out, and only ever occasionally played my Wii for Wii Sports and the odd VC game. Then after I finished with RE:4 I didn't buy another game until Super Paper Mario, during these times I will admit that the Xbox360 was pretty much the only console I played. It gets about twice as much use as the Wii, but then I live in the UK and haven't been able to play Metroid Prime 3 yet. 

I'm used to Nintendo being incredibly slow releasing their titles. For the Wii they seem to have picked up the pace, without sacrificing quality in my opinion. I loved Twilight Princess myself, and Super Paper Mario wasn't bad at all either.

tomarlyn, I'm curious have you played Metroid Prime 3 yet? I checked your profile before you made it private, and the only Wii games you rated were the most mediocre titles, titles I have avoided like the plague (which you actually gave quite good scores to).

I'm thoroughly excited for SMG and SSBB though, and still haven't played MP:3 so I'm expecting to play my Wii a lot more soon.

Not at all.

The only people who are disapointed are the people who exepect a console that's not even been out for a year to have games that developers take at least a year to make.

Developers jumped on the Wii bandwagon to late.
