Anyone else feel kind of "meh" about MGS4?

I've played a bit of MGS on PSX and the some of the one on xbox but just could not get into them. It seems like you take five steps down a hallway and bam, you have to watch cut-scenes, tons of cut-scenes. I just don't see the mass appeal for slow-paced stealth/cinema games. What do fans of the series see in games like this and Splinter Cell?Bigboi500

i have to agree.. the games are fun at times but the core gameplay revolves around hours of repetitive sneaking/cutscenese with maby 1 or 2 hours of actual fun.

if i want to experience a great story i just get a nice deep rpg..

mgs is still cool though but highly overrated

I hate the MGS series. I can never get into them. Its just that after playing games like Halo and GTA, MGS always used to bore me to death.

I hate stealth games like MGS and Splinter Cell. Hard to get into, repeditive, tedious, slow, and all around boring. I'll take a FPS over a stealth shooter any day. I'll admit they do have their shining points but the slowness and sneaking doesn't appeal to me at all. MGS games can be fun at times, but I still think they're rediculously overrated.

Exactly why there is no point in explaining to you that you simply are not attracted to these types of games and others are.

If you're not in to the story of the Metal Gear series... the games are still great. I really don't know what else to say about that. But hey, Metal Gear doesn't have any cut scenes... try playing that :)! Neither does MG 2!.

MGS 4 can be played in first or third person... which, is sick. You're also, like, a quasi-rogue spy genetically engieneered by the gov't hired to sneak thru a middle-eastern battle field (amongst other locations), in order to stop your genetic twin from leading his amassed armies... and stolen remote (or live) controlled & operated mecha capable of carrying and launching nuclear projectiles that were originally built by the US Gov't... to world domination, in a not-to-distant future where the global economy has become dependent on wars to thrive. With a backstory so f*ing perfectly fantastic, detailed, and intricately weaved it puts any Ayn Rand to shame.

How do you know that everyone saying they dont like MGS actually has a 360? You just don't like anyone putting down a game that you like and therefore jump to conclusions as a way to try and defend the game.

I've played both MGS & SPinter Cell, I hate them both. Or maybe it bothers you that 1 of the 2 biggest exclusive titles for Sony isn't actually that good.

You said "fanboyS" which is plural, which unless stated otherwise encompesses the entirety of those you mentioned. I think I am just feeling a bit meh about all sequels in general.

It looks very impressive....and I think it might be the big title that the PS3 needs...but for me, it won't be a reason to get a PS3.

I am hoping that a combo or MGS4, Killzone 2 and GT5 will be enough to make me get one though

This is not a game for the casual market og the action "i-want-to-kill-as-many-people-as-posible" crowd.

You play MGS for its story and gameplay. And no you can tell a story in a good way ingame like in half life.
MGS is like and interactive movie, just as good RPG's are like good books.
