Hey guys, first let me say i'm nearly 40 years old and a long time lover and veteran of shooters and RPG's, and being, to this day, a player and devoted fan of Elder scrolls IV:Oblivion, i was looking forward to Fallout 3, every bit as much as Gears 2.
However once i got it home and began playing, i noticed almost immediately that, stimpaks(health),weapons, armor, money and level progression was very difficult and hard to come by, and the new V.A.T. aiming system was ineffective on most larger and numerous enemies.
If and when i did manage to clear out a group of raiders and super mutants, all my ammo was depleted and i would constantly find myself low on caps, and searching the wasteland for things to sell because i'm constantly buying more ammo and health or paying for a place to sleep.
Now i didn't just play for an hour or two and say , "well this is too tough i'm trading this", i really gave this game a chance, i devoted 12 hours of gameplay to this game and completed about 7 missions and my character reached a level 6 and still everything was very hard to come by and enemies were just as difficult to kill, not to mention when i finally found the heavy armor in the game that they show on the games case cover, it said i could not wear the armor until i did the heavy armor training.
What the heck is that about ? i didn't even know where to go for the training and i had the strategy guide, but couldn't find anything about it.
So by this time i had just about had enough and i unfortunately had to trade in the game because it was just more frustrating then enjoyable so, even though i was disappointed, that the progression of the game wasn't more similar to Oblivion, at least i wasn't alone in my opinion.
My friend experienced the exact same thing and returned it to his game store and the store employee said to him "let me guess it's to difficult, right?" and my friend was like " yeah how did you know ? ", the guy replied, we've been getting alot of that.
So maybe Bethesda could've done things a little differently, or maybe you just have to be a true RPG master like my brother in law because he's still playing his and so far he still enjoys it. So who knows.
What do you guy's think ?
