Although I enjoyed the demo, played through it about 15 times, it was a little too fast-paced for a SC game. I remember Chaos Theory, staying in the shadows and slowly eliminating each enemy with precision. Seems like Conviction is more run-and-gun, which I don't like in a stealth game, and the Mark and Execute was far to easy to obtain, almost spammable. Any thoughts?

Then go through slowly taking each guy out with precision, is that so hard? dont like the mark execute? dont use it.

While I applaud Conviction for trying something different, I think at least giving players the option to do classic SPlinter Cell moves like non lethal takedowns and hiding bodies would be great. Other than that I enjoyed it a fair bit more than many others, as a standalone game its great, but as a Splinter Cell game its... different.

I didn't like it. Why give me a gun. If its pretty much a pee shooter unless you do special moves.

I don't out right hate stealth loved it in Batman. But if i have a gun i want to have the choice of just shooting the place up. Or being sneky

I don't know how drastic the game can be from the demo...not to mention that demo is probably going to sell the game, and people would be mad if the gameplay design was altered so drastically.

Sure, I hope it's the bestest SC game in the whole wide world, but who knows how I will feel. I wasn't uber impressed by the dumbing down, but I look back at the last SC, and I guess that was always the plan.

We'll see, maybe we will all love this new styIe of SC.

It could be ten times better than the demo, and still be irredeemable garbage, so no, I don't have much left in the way of hope.

Ubisoft sucks, and Conviction sucks, and no amount of clever excuses made to ignorant interviewers about how all of these core issues magically get better throughout the course of the game will make me change my mind.

I shan't be playing it.

I really enjoyed the demo. I just had a great time playing it, the mark and execute was fun without feeling cheap, the enemies where powerful enough that the predator gameplay was a necessity and the graphics were pretty. It was not quintessential splinter cell but anyone who though it would be must have been basically blacking out when reading previews and watching trailers..

The demo was just fine for what it was. It was a tutorial to the gameplay experience. It had varied combat mechanicsand good graphics, everything you would want from a third person shooter. I agree with the pace of the demo but I belive the developers were just trying to display as much as they could in a short period of time that it came off a bit rushed. I could see the level in the demo being stretched out to about a healthy hour of gameplay.

Ubisoft said the demo was just dumbed down a bit so people could get a basic idea of the game. assuming they weren't kidding themselves.

I'll get the link if I can find it again.

I find it disappointing to hear that you can't take down anyone in a non lethal fashion. Hasn't Ubisoft ever heard of role-playing?

Demo was short (I think that's why the game has gotten most of it's criticism) but I liked it.

http://www.msxbox-world.com/xbox360/features/article/413/Exclusive-Splinter-Cell-Conviction-Interview-with-Ubisoft-Montreal.html I think this is the article mentioned earlier. I still think it's a solid game, and most people would probably agree had it not been a Splinter Cell sequel? Saying that, I did enjoy the demo - as short as it was.

Why is this a key point? I just dont understand it. Lets say you could shoot tranquilizers as well as bullets. Would this solve your criticism?

I enjoyed the demo a bunch and while its a far cry (get it) from CT or even DA. I liked the sleek presentation and style of it. The controls were hard to get used to but I'm looking forward to this evolution of SC.

Read my post again, and this time don't skim over "role-playing."

Care to elaborate what you mean by "role-playing". Based on the new direction the character has taken the increased focus on killing seems pretty congruent to me...

Contrary to what many believe it's actually possible to pretty much "ghost" demo. Anyway, there are some bits of the game where you can't get detected.
