Iown both a PS3 and an Xbox 360, normally I buy all my multiplats on 360 because generally you get a better version, there are some exceptions but forconsistencies sake I get them on 360. My problem is now FF13 is coming to both and normally of course I would get it on 360, but it just doesn't feel right buying it for the Xbox. Don't get me wrong I'm sure both versions will play exactly the same the only differences I can think of are the multi disk on 360 and maybe some compressed video. So at the moment I think I'm going to break my tradition and buy it on PS3 but I keep seeing the small adverts on Xbox Live and think "should I just get it on 360?". So my question is is anyone else in the same situation and what console are you buying it for if you own both?

I am not in the same situation. But if i were i would still buy it for the PS3. Even though the differences are minor the PS3 version is still the superior version.

It's better on the PS3 if you have the right hardware, just get that version.

The odds of it being better are in the PS3's favor. Want to know what I'm going to do ? Wait for Digital Foundry to compare the two then make an informed decision. I hate impulse buying.

I read in Kotaku that both versions are the same so you can get the game for the xbox360 or if you don't want to swap discs which is not a big deal in my opinion then buy the PS3 version if you really want to.

Im curious if with the 360s install to drive if disc swapping will be required, or if the space needed would be ridiculous.

Don't be fooled with 'it doesnt feel right" BS... technically, FF was originated on the NES so it "doesn't feel right" playing it on a playstation to true vetran gamers either.

Owning both consoles, I'm still getting it for PS3. I generally get a game on whatever platform its best on, don't care about consistency and certainly no brand loyalty. My big thing was hearing sound quality will be better on PS3. I like playing single player games with either headphones or surround sound on, so that matters to me.

PS3 gets it's fair share of better multiplat titles. An I'd get the PS3 version of FFXIII. It's got Uncompressed High Def audio and 1080p cutscenes on 1 bluray disc. You can't go wrong. The XBOX360 will have compressed data to fit on 3 DVDs. Chances are it's going to look slightly better on the PS3 as well. It was developed for PS3 first then ported to the 360.

And yes I own both PS3 and XBOX360 and tend to buy most multiplats on the PS3 simply because it has a free online service.

Technically correct, however, I can play FF 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 11, 12, Tactics, and soon to be 13, 13 vs, and 14 all on my PS3. Name any other system by any company that can do that... No matter where FF started (and I still have my 8-bit NES copy of FF1), all of the true FF games, except FF3 (which has only ever been released in the US on the DS)have found their way to Playstation. No other brand console will allow you to play them all.

I'm getting on PS3 just so I don't have to swap discs, but I'm going to start buying multiplats on PS3 anyway, since I want my games to last for as long as possible, and the PS3 is more reliable and Blu-rays don't scratch, so there you go.

I might feel weird buying it for 360. I'd rather buy it for PS3. But honestly, I don't think the differences will be all that noticable. If you own both consoles, go with either one. Whichever console you like more or w/e.

By that I mean a decent HDTV for the 1080p cut scenes and sound system for the better audio.

Both versions are the same so I'll most likely get it for 360. I like to talk to my friends in a party chat while I'm playing and I doubt voice chat is coming to PS3 anytime soon.

Reason: It's on one disk and to me it's always been a PS3 game.

It's just an argument, similar to the "I can play every FF game on the PC except for 13" one.

But knowing SE they will probably have FF ports for any game of the series for every random systems that will exist from now on.

FF is synonomous with the Playstation in the eyes of alot of hardcore gamers. Including myself. Now im personally not a fan, but I can definetly see where your coming from. I'm sure alot of people had the same problem with Gta, Tekken, etc. As they probably will with MGS:Rising. Its like playing a Splinter Cell game on something other than an Xbox.

Im picking up my PS3 around the same time but I am still getting it for the 360...Im only getting the PS3 for exclusives. I prefer the 360s controller, environment, etc...plus, I want the achievements of course. The only thing the PS3 version will have over the 360 version is 1080p cutscenes and uncompressed audio. The question is, do you have the hardware to take advantage of that? If not, then its really a wash and just get it for which ever platform you are most comfortable with

What do you use your 360 for?

Games that I cant play on my PS3. Like ME2 and Alan wake. I might get fable3,but after fable 2 im no that hyped for it. I think thats about it for this year unless MS announce something els im interested in. Ill also get bayonetta for it when it gets uber cheap. Since im sorta interested in it and since alot of people say its a night and day difference.

But knowing SE they will probably have FF ports for any game of the series for every random systems that will exist from now on.

I dunno about you, but my PS3 plays PS2 games. FF 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and Tactics were all released on the PS1, which all PS3s can play. 10, 10-2, 11, and 12 were released on PS2, which my PS3 can play as well. 13, 13v and 14 will be on the PS3. That's every FF except 3 (which has only been released in the US on the DS). No other system can do that. Even if you leave out BC, and need a PS2 and a PS3 to play them all, no other brand other than Playstation has them all. So while the early ones originated on Nintendo systems, if you were going to associate one brand with Final Fantasy, it would have to be Playstation.

As for the PC, sure, you could play most of them on that, thanks to the wonders of ROMs (Go, go, piracy!). How many of them are LEGALLY available on PC though?

Hathesulacon

you think wrong

the audio and video are going to be compressed alot more on the 360 version, people with decent sized hdtv's and nicer sound systems will definitely notice a difference if they were to play both games through their system.

but if you're just going into a crt with the 2 little speakers then yeah, its a bit irrelevent :P
