I love my 360 but I'm not too big on XBL.I much rather play games like Gears of War and Halo 2 with my brother, or with some friends than I would online against some 12 year old losers.Anyone else feel this way?

I like it for playing sports games and racing games but I like the SP experience better for shooters and action games....MP for shooters is jus running around and shooting each other all day= yawn

Like any online service, XBL has it's fair share of jerks and losers that you dont really want to play with. But it looks like you're alone here, and that's for a simple reason: You dont have to play with 12 year old losers on XBL. You can play with your friends on XBL, too. Without having to bring Xboxes and TV's over to each others houses, etc etc. And having a screen to yourself is so much cooler than split screen.

I have never upgraded my silver account. I don't play online enough to justify paying for it.

Oh and it sucks that as a silver member I wait longer to play certain demo's.

PSN doesn't come close to offering the community options XBL does at this point.

The best thing to do is build a good friends list and play game with your friends. XBL truly shines in that aspect.

I have a 360 and I only have Silver.  I just haven't been able to stomach the thought of paying money for multiplayer, no matter how good it is.

As a Gold member, I'm glad I get content first. I'd rather not have all the Silvers bogging down the network when a new demo comes out.:)

Same here I never played online when I had my free one month Subcribtion to justify paying for it but my brother he plays alot so when there is a demo I want I just go on his name to download it when he gets his gold subcription back.

Xbox Live is amazing.  The problem is you haven't made enough friends to play with.  Over the last year or so I have about 15 people whom I play with consistantly almost daily which makes the games I have about 10x more fun to play online than by myself.

Agreed. But is it worth paying $50 for community options (that are slowly but surely comming to ps3 anyways)? The game experience is most important and in that regard psn is right there, even better with resistance dedicated servers. No host on xbl can handle 40 players like that.

RFoM is only one game though. The dedicated servers are nice, but rarely (and I mean rarely) are games over 30 players.

Any person who has truly played RFoM will tell you that most games have between 12-26 players. Few game in the 30+ players range. And rarely maxed out with 40 players.

PDZ has up to 32 players and plays fine online. IMO, PSN hasn't shown anything to make me question the $50/year I pay for XBL. Nothing.

Same with me, i dont really like play multiplay so much atm with consoles. It is more fun to take some friends home and play multiplay splitscreen or system link.

So basically you don't like Online Play at all, by not playing online you miss out a lot of great gaming.

Me.

I would feel a bit better about it being free,but having a 70euro/year fee on gold isnt sweet. Yes thats almost $100USD.

Im running out of monthly trials soon =)

Its more fun to play splitscreen/2player mode i agree...

I got tired of the death threats, racial slurs, and general stupidity a long time ago, and not just in XBL, in just about every online service that allows communication, via text or voice.  That's why I only play with my friends.
The problem is anonymity.  People in online games know that if they insult others online that person has no retribution option.

Count me among those who do not play on line with their xbox 360. My friends don't have @ in their name. They are real and we hang out.  I do not play any shooters (which accounts for a large part of online gaming) and thusly have no interest.

PSN doesn't have as much kids because the PS3 has 1/3 the userbase the x360 has.

My experiance on XBL was pretty bad, racists, kids, the usual stuff thats been mentioned before. I prefer to stick with PC gaming, at least there most of the voice communication is tactical (mostly in older games, PC mods & some BF2 servers) rather than people screaming at each other & insults flying about the guy's country of origin. I'm not against Trash Talk, I trash talk myself, but only amongst friends not strangers.

you can always mute them. i never have problems with ppl on xbl except for few run ins in gears of war. i usually just mute them if they are annoying or play in private chat. if you feel they were out of hand just put them under avoid player and report them to MS if necessary.

my worst encounter i ever had were sore losers on warcraft 3(pc) on battlenet. in rank games ppl use to send me spam hate msges since there is no voice chat. pretty pathetic.

I always figured XBL was obligatory if you owned a 360. Unless of course you were SUPER poor or lived out in the boonies. In which case, WHY ON GOD'S EARTH DID YOU HAVE A 360 TO BEGIN WITH?!

I liked it a lot with halo 2. If more games get the same online setup (party + matchmaking setup) xbox live offers far, far more than SP. However, recent games have a less good online setup. They're still lots of fun though.

Actually the majority of 360's sold don't have a gold account. i think i read 6 million 360's are online which include silver acount. not sure about that number though.  Lot of 360's are owned by kids.

Why don't they have XBL though? I mean, its super cheap and easy to get, and its almost cannon if you want to get the most out of your system.

But I would mute people that would talk to much or blew my ear drums out.

I don't want to pay to play online, even if it's only 50 dollars per year.  When I did have XBL I only played around 6 hours of it PER YEAR anyway, not worth it.  Maybe it'll change when a game with good multiplayer comes out.

I don't own a 360 yet but I already know I despise XBL. Public games have utterly horrible people (Halo2 public games were a horrible cheating annoying cesspool), and without either tons of friends or dedicating yourself to a clan there's hardly a point in playing (one of my friends dropped out prettymuch because of XBL addiction). Playing online with friends is great but XBL doesn't provide much that PSN won't have for free or PC games have had for years and years.
