Everything announced for it so far has been very pleasing... great entry price for the tech, no region lock, great launch lineup, dual analogs, $40 pricepoint for new games and among others. Has Sony impressed you with its second handheld?

Incidently, my divorce has resulted in me being kicked out of school and living with my parents so I'm all good in regards to clean clothes :?
I was, however, insinuating that certain forums seem to love sticking it to Sony for reasons that shall remain forever unlearned :P

Actually yes,
I'm still not interested in buying one however because I'd rather just play a PS3 that does exactly the same stuff, other than some touch -screen gimmick stuff that I don't really care about in this particular instance.
That's the problem with Sony's handhelds. They don't differentiate themselves enough from the home console experience, and there's never really anything I can get on them that I couldn't get on the home console bigger and better, so there's never really enough incentive to want to buy one.

If that's all it did it would simply disappoint a lot people because every time they played a game on their handheld they would be reminded that it's the same as what they can get on their home console but just not as good. This is why the DS really stood out last-gen; because it offered so many compelling experiences that just couldn't be had on normal home consoles, and with that came some really brilliant, innovative and above all FUN games.[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]

The whole point of a handheld is to give a home console experience WHILE BEING HANDHELD. but I guess some dont like that...Actually they do like that. They had no problem with it on every Game Boy system and they have no problem buying the usual Nintendo franchises on DS and 3DS that you can get on home consoles. This is just the latest excuse people are using to downplay how awesome the Vita looks. I highly doubt even the people saying this crap actually believe what they're saying. "Vita is just a portable PS3" is the best people can come up with to downplay the Vita right now, even if the 3DS is full of nothing but ports right now and the only good games on the horizon are from franchises you can also get on consoles. Not to mention the fact Vita is getting original games that look great too. Personally my most anticipated launch title for Vita is Gravity. After seeing the 8 minute gameplay video of it I'm sold. Looks really original and cool. The whole point of a handheld is to give a home console experience WHILE BEING HANDHELD. but I guess some dont like that...Actually they do like that. When handhelds first came out all we could reasonably expect was cut down versions of the same games we were getting on our home consoles. That's no longer the case and now that mobile gaming is finally discovering it's true strengths and unique potential I don't think it's enough just to give us a slightly under powered home console in a portable box.[QUOTE="iliatay"]

The people putting down the Vita for only providing "console" experiences are seriously reaching. I see it all the time. A handheld system is supposed to provide both. A console like experience on a handheld is very appealing to many people. Yes unique experiences are needed too especially today, but people also want console like games on their handheld. It's a good thing Vita offers both!

If this was last gneration of handhelds I would agree but so far in this handheld generation seem both 3DS and PSV will be delivering a washed out home consoles experience and PSV is doing it in less washed out way.
It looks pretty good to me. I might even get one at launch which is saying a lot considering I never bought a PSP.

Well it's certainly a very nice handheld, that has no glaring design issues or omissions, and I can definitely see a lot of people enjoying it. I personally need to get a little bit more out of it than just the same thing I get on my home console to really find the value in it however. If in some future scenario that handheld was actually also my home console, with no comprise coming as a result of it also being a portable, then it might actually just be the perfect system because then I could play it through my TV when I'm in the house, and enjoy the benefits that brings, and on the system itself when I'm out and about and enjoy the convenience that brings. Having that usability and versatility would give make in an extremely high value proposition for me personally.I think it's called evolution. Exactly, the gameboy gave you a HOME CONSOLE experience (nes, snes) in a handheld...its just that home consoles technology grew so fast handhelds were so far behind, and up until now the handhelds are finally catching up, so its really just an excuse for nintendo fanboys to throw back at sony.
If the battery life is longer than the PSP that would be an instant purchase for me. DS Lite is still godly with the 14-18 battery life.

Ya I'm impressed. Great price, the handheld itself is quite capable, it's a nice piece of tech. There's only one or two exclusives I'm looking forward too tho (Gravity Daze, Sound Shapes) so I'm looking forward to more unique titles that I won't find on any other platforms.

A quick not of worthy info.... IF you do indeed use your Iphone/Android for gaming purposes, expect the very same battery life the portables provide you with... That's one of the reasons phones will not become your game device of choice in the near future..... You sort of need your phone to last beyond a day without a recharge.
