Anyone else surprised by Dying Light?

This game is a total blast to play. Was not expecting it to be as good as it is. Only played the Dead Island games briefly, but this seems like a huge step up. Gorgeous graphics/atmosphere, interesting story/missions, awesome parkour and combat mechanics, and a great upgrade system that makes the gameplay even better. A really good start to 2015. I haven't gotten to the co-op, but I bet it's interesting Have you played the game, SW? Impressions, thoughts, etc?

I'll rent or wait for a price drop. I'm curious to try it but not at $60.

been watching streams and i am interested, if i can convice a friend or two to coop with me will definitely buy it, if not will wait for price drop, still, looks very fun-

Looks fun. The story is decent. Dunno about the price tag.

It's pretty good, especially after I did a little modding and got rid of the ridiculous film grain and weapon decay. I really liked Dead Island though, so I'm not surprised I am liking Dying Light.

Just don't buy it for PC, it plays like shit.

I'll probably get it. It looks pretty good and is getting mostly favorable reviews. If a couple of my friends get it then I'm sold on co-op

I was presently surprised. Didn't like dead island, wasn't really interested in this but got it for some co-op with friends and so far i love it. My only complaint is the lack of sleep it caused me. Barely got the kids to school on time this morning lol

Loving the game so far, but I've barely played it. If feels different enough compared to recent Zombie games. So far so good.

@ten_pints: The problems people are receiving on PC is frame drops to mid 30's with AMD specs. The console version is capped at 30. So... The pc version is still a preferable choice heh.

But, at the moment the pc port isn't the greatest and yet again we will have to wait for patches to fix it.

Fookin' hell. I can't queue the game coz redeeming codes and shit is down on xbox.com - neither through their site nor the console. I wanted to queue the game so that I'd have it by dawn, but FUCKING NO coz BLOWJOB SQUAD decided to put a prank (or Microsoft simply sucks).

I feel the same way. I'm hearing good things about it though. Will still wait since I'm saying my money for a few other games.

I'm a single player type of guy. How does it hold up if I only play by myself?? And if I didnt like Dead Island should i still try it?

I'm surprised because Techland has done some crappy work with Dead Island. overall, it's fun, fast paced and it's exactly like Dead Island.

This seems to be the same situation as Shadow of Mordor. An otherwise above average game that was under high scrutiny due to it's seemingly generic gameplay footage we got before launch (even though I personally think it always looked phenomenal), now being glorified because it has exceeded expectations.

I mean c'mon guys. It was obvious this game was gonna be fun. All you had to do was take off your jade lenses and take it all in, the gameplay footage they showed last year was accurate enough.

People seem to really expect the worst nowadays because of all the recent failures like AC unity.

The problem is that the game is quite CPU bound with high view distance. Most of the load is on the first core, so overclocking helps with the view distance setting. But PS4s view distance is equal to or lower than the PC view distance set to 0% lol

View distance set to 50% is considered high setting according to the devs, everything higher are ultra and extreme settings, so it's no wonder people are a bit disappointed when they can't max it

My PC version doesn't play like shit.

1440p, 50-60 fps, maxed settings except view distance at 60%.

Can you not download it? Some people are having that issue on psn also myself included. From what I've heard Techland screwed up the licences or something like that the game has been removed from playstation store I'm guessing it's the same for live.

Yeah it's defenitely good, I even put a quick review up yesterday afternoon on gamespot to let people know how good it actually is. I gave it a 9/10.

You'll like it, co op is nice but single player too because then you can take your time with exploring, upgrading weapons. Co-op sometimes has its disadavantages because not everyone playes at the same pace. I like it to go zombie killing, but doing missions is sometimes more fun alone.

But in the end its all a matter of taste of course. A lot of people here seem to like dying light but didn't like dead island. The game is in its core still dead island though, but its grittier. Probably the fluo colors put a lot of people off in dead island and the fact that you can parcour in dying light and the more serious tone attracts a crowd that is more horror oriented. Dead island was more comedy horror, there's still comedy in here though but it's a lot less than in dead island.

I already got a quest from some loco guy, but it was only one , everything else was dead serious.

yes, got to try the x1 and ps4 versions of the game. and as always the x1 version has way better lighting and better colors.

ps4 version looks like theres vaseline on the screen.

To the gentleman who said about "Be the Zombie" mode. They are on Xbox too, incase anyone was bi/curious.

I only got to play launch day then I had a stitch burst suddenly were they stapled my stomach last week. Not good. I figured I would use the time to eat all I can before going back under the knife.

Love the game so far. Frustrating because I suck so bad anymore. I feel like I passed my prime for hand eye coordination and knowing what to do when the screen has a big "A" or "Y" on it. Do I press the button once or pull both triggers?

I got it for 20 bucks from Gamestop. I'll try it out soon. I'm scared to play it though.

I lost excitment for it after a while....but hearing good things about the single player repeatedly makes excited again.

The limiting factor right now is per core speed though. Most of the CPUs load is on the first core. Normally I could get much higher fps.

Drop kicking zombies is the best, especially off of rooftops or into spikes lol

Any rig that has a AMD component will not run this with more than 30 fps (35 if you are lucky like me). I currently have an i5-4670k,AMD 280X with 3GB (OC'ed) and 8Gb RAM. I play games like Far cry 4 with everything nearly maxed out at 70 FPS....

The game is fun, a lot of fun, but they need to patch the game and give us the option to remove that film grain...

I'll wait for when its $30 or less.. there's no way im paying $80 for this game

I run it at 60 fps constant and i just have a single 290x right now, drop the draw distance to 50 or so.

I've just finished the prologue and while the tutorial was tedious and the very beginning slightly boring, now I have to admit the game's getting really good. I'm playing on Xbone, the frame rate is really good, comparable to Alien Isolation. I'm gonna stream the game tomorrow.

Dunno for me the game runs at 20FPS constantly at the lowest settings, probably need to upgrade my graphics card at some point, poor HD7850 is not powerful enough :(.

Dunno what's my view distance but I will try to lower it when I play.

Hopefully they will release a patch anyways to give us AMD user some more tweaking options. Having a blast btw, love the quests.
