I would argue that Animal Crossing will be as big as the titles they've released so far - simply because the DS iteration was so popular. They have other IPs they can release - and they still haven't released a Wii-specific Zelda title. I think they'll be alright.

I'm still waiting for a 3D Metroid Side-Scroller for the Wii / DS.

Man, if that ever happens... so awesome it would be.

I don't think they released their titles too early, I think they were banking on the idea that having the largest userbase would guarantee better 3rd party support. Unfortunately, they didn't bank on 3rd parties having enough common sense to jump at a new market.

They might have, but i doubt it. Because in a year or two we will have probably 1 more zelda, 1 more metroid, and 23,795,956 mario games

i think the opposite. I think they should of busted the wii a year earlier. the 360 started too early which is why half there consoles are red ringin (not half), but nintendo should of released a year early adn cashed in even more IMO.

Nintendo still has a lot to work with. Sure they already released their more prominent titles, but Nintendo still has so many IPs left, and then they have newer ones like Soma Bringer and Disaster coming.

i think they did.

whatever happened to seeing more than 1 mario on 1 system? nintendo has no excuse this generation, they can pump out another sequel in this lifespan. 1 at least. seeing they crapped out all their big titles in the first months of the wiis life, i dont see how they can not put out another mario on the wii.

They still haven't brought out Pikmin 3, Zelda Wii, Starfox, Kirby, and of course, who knows what they have in store for WiiWare...

Also, it's not impossible for Nintendo to create a new IP... I mean, just because its not a well established franchise doesn't mean it can't be big. Nintendo hasn't "used up" all its big guns, because it could just create some. There are probably some already in the works.

Soma Bringer is a DS game and it is already out in Japan, but Monolith can make a Wii iteration sometime in the Future.

Edit* The next Zelda might not be that far away because Twilight Princess was a Launch Title and Nintendo confirmed that they were working on the new Zelda while they were porting Twilight Princess to the Wii. So Zelda could come next Year, Majora's Mask released a year and a Half after Ocarina of Time or maybe it was 2 years, but it has already been about 2 years since They said they were working on the new Zelda.

Nintendo has a tendency to bring out their big blockbuster games early... Super Mario World and Zelda: aLttP for the SNES, Mario 64 for the N64 and Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Sunshine for the GC.

Nintendo still has a few aces up their sleeve... Animal Crossing and Pikmin 3 will be hot sellers, Star Fox and F-Zero could appease the core Nintendo gamer and Nintendogs... yes, Nintendogs can make its way onto the Wii at some point. Nintendo needs some new IPs to keep the momentum going, not just the same old Mario spinoffs.

Worst comes to worst, they revive older franchises like the rumored new Kid Icarus game or a Punch-Out!! revival. Nintendo's arsenal is too extensive for them to run out of ammo, even if some big guns are already gone. Also, a new Zelda game will happen. F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, StarFox, Kirby, DK and Yoshi are yet to happen, plus the smaller, but still awesome, IPs like Custom Robo and Chibi Robo.

Also IPs that only had one game like Solar Striker (which was only on the Gameboy), Bring some of those Japan Only games over like Daigasso! Band Brothers, Densetsu no Stafy, and make a new Joy Mech Fight and bring it to North America. Make another Geist but have a different Company handle it. Make a sequal to Sin & Punishment and have it release in North America.

I think Nintendo did a splendid job releasing their heavy hitters in the systems first 15 months in retail ,they have surpassed xbox 360 totals in less than 1 year and currently ahead of xbox 360 aorund 5 m units worldwide and ahead of ps3 nearly 12 m units worldwide ,so it was a very good idea ..besides the wii isnt as dependent on mario ,link and zelda anymore as they were in the past ,since sales of wii-fit ,wii-play and other casual games like wii sports are selling in millions

A lot of the more anticipated games have come out or are coming out this year. But considering this is nintendo we're talking about, I'm expecting more big titles to come.

They still haven't bought out their best franchise - Kirby.

Sure it kinda went downhill after N64, but the point remains.

Kirby's Adventure defined my childhood on the SNES :|

they still have quite a bit of ammo left in storage (being in the industry for 20+ years will do that). if they released a new fzero, animal crossing and pikmin on wii for 08 then that would be fantastic. and of course kart and brawl will be out this year (brawl already being out everywhere except pal territories....sucks to be us :( ). thats not bad considering its all coming from one campany. heavens knows what else they can bring up from the past (kid icarus is already heavily rumoured to be making an enterance on wii).

bringing them out so early could also mean that ninty have plans for a new zelda and Mario platformer planned for wiis twilight years (definatley a new zelda at least since TP is basically a GC game).

theyve still got ammo. it would be nice if 3rd parties started filling in the gaps though. its a bit harsh to expect ninty to go and single handedly win the console war. and keep everyones demands satisfied.

Reggie has said that new and exciting games are being annouced this e3 for holiday release and if nintendo puts the time and effort into old IPs like Kid Icarus and even starfox, the core audience that buys mario zelda and metroid games will probabaly buy if its a nintendo game and its good

Nintendo has demonstrateed with the GCN that a good start is important. More Zeldas and Marios can be made if need be, or something else altogether. Point is they will do fine if the console is already doing well, whereas they won't save a console on the edge of being knocked out.

Actually Metroid is not even that huge outside of the world of hardcore gamers. Animal Crossing is a way bigger juggarnaut than Metroid imo. Hell the last Animal Crossing game on the the DS has sold about 10 million units . . . that's more than Halo, Halo 2, or Halo 3.

Mario Kart
New Donkey Kong game
New Kirby games

ok...first zelda is multiplat, not a true wii game.

second...the haters...well hate, on all the casual games on the wii, but when nintendo gives us there hardcore franchises faster than they ever have before to cater to the hardcores, we hate on nintendo for relecing them all to fast? rly a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for everyone, this would happen with MS and sony too.

and your just kidding yourself if you think the casuals bought brawl, metroid and NMH.

Contrary to popular opinion, Nintendo does not just have Mario. Samus, and Link as their only hope

F-zero, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Earthbound, Kirby, Donkey Kong, etc. and lots of other RPGs
