Anyone find it a bit unfair that LBP2 scored the same as LBP?

I mean the second game improved over the first one. shouldn't it at least get about 9.2 or something? It just seems unfair.

who cares, it scored a 9.0, its a great game, just go play it, i guarantee if it got a 9.5 it would be exactly the same game it is now as a 9.0

I wouldn't expect much from a site that gives ODST a 9.0

If it makes you feel better it did score 9.2 but was rounded down to 9.0 due to the scoring system...

We just assume and expect a sequal to be better. THat is the whole reason/point of releasing a sequal in the first place. Since it is just expected, you don't get bonus points. If anything, you have to be harder and more critical when reviewing a sequal specifically because of that higher standard.

lol nah, and who cares. I will buy it when there is a deal on Amazon. Too many other games coming this year for me to buy them all on launch.

No, i think is really hard for a sequel (without the name Halo or CoD) to score better or even equally than the first game since the "surprise" factor from the first game is gone, so i think is a grea achievement for LBP2 to score a 9.0.

It is fair LBP2 scored the same as LBP1

• Standards increase over time
• It didnt have the same impact the original had
• Different reviewer: Little Big Planet 1 was reviewed by Guy Cocker while LBP2 was reviewd by Justin Calvert
• Scores are in intervals of 0.5. This means that a score like 9.2 is impossible, it has to be either 9.0 or 9.5

Also LBP 1 has a higher metascore than LBP2.

QFT. But to be honest, There is no 9.2 or anything on gamespot anymore so 9.0 for LBP2 was quite fair.

Ah well, you know what I mean.

Games are given score regarding the whole spectrum, not just in relation to its predecessors. LBP 2 may have improved over the first, but it doesn't mean it has, in general, been a good enough experience to get it a 9.5. Besides, 9.0 is a god-like score on Gamespot.

It doesn't matter if it improved upon the game. Its a sequel.. it HAS to improve upon the first one to get the same score or else why are you buying the sequel?..

Are you kidding? NO!

If its the same it gets knocked for being too much of the same. Almost every sequel improves, if its not enough then it gets knocked, it doesn't get the same score. So LBP2 improved as much as it should have. It looses the wow factor of being new, but adds quite a bit.

One could think the same thing for The Witcher and The Witcher EE. But GS never changes a game rating.

I agree, I found LBP2 to have a worse story mode as well. LBP1's story mode was quite enjoyable, but LBP2's story mode was very meh. The platforming sections were decent, but the vehicle sections were just not a lot of fun. I also think the game would have been better off without a story. Creation tools are heavily improved however. Personally this game is an 7.5/10 while LBP1 is a 7/10.

I just find it funny that metal gear online is a 9.5 game aparantly

If the only requirements for getting a higher score was to have improvements over the predeccessor then it might be "unfair".

But since it's not then no. The game didn't feel like a 9.5 to the reviewer, so he gave it a 9.0.

everyone knows there is an international conspiracy against lbp from the makers of lbp2.

the lbp1 people totally paid off everyone in order to hold back the lbp2 score.

if you are tired of this blatent payola scheme that has plagued this generation you should sign my petition.
