FPS and shooters are supposed to be short. They're short and sweet.
If you're looking for that kind of longevity get an adventure game or an RPG or something,
Im finding alot of games are being made way to short recently. Games that come to mind first are games like Gears and Bioshock and alot of the newer FF's which are only rated at around 10-15 hours of gameplay. What ever happened to the days when games were 30-40 hours of gameplay and you would spent months and months enjoying them? Now games are only focusing on graphics and the "look and feel" of the game. They have completely forgotten that quantity is just about as important as quality. I know that development costs are an issue in this but still I would rather see a game thats a little more expensive then a game I can beet in about a week. A couple days is not worth my 60$. I know you can rent them but seriously, games like Gears Bioshock, FF's Halo, MGS, MP ect ect.. are not rental games. What will become of this industry when all our major tittles like Halo 3, MGS4, FF13 ect are beaten within a week of buying? Developers should put more emphasis on length and plot of a game like the good old days lol, and stop focusing on looks. bri360
If a FPS was 40 huors long there is no way I would ever finish it, but thats just me, and what FF game is 10-15 hours?
I'm not too sad when a game is on the short side. Gears of War was perfect if you ask me. Because it allows you to enjoy playing it through more than once. I have now beaten it 4 times, twice on insane. Good times. I should clarify. Long shooters bore me (like Call of Duty 2, that started to wear on me). But long RPG's are good.musicalmac
i think gears should have been two or three (maybe even four) hours longer, When I finished for teh first time I was dissapointed at how short it was, I really wanted there to be more SP.

I was pretty satisfied, and I immediately started playing it on Hardcore. That's what I liked. It was the same way I felt after completing KOTOR. Right back on the horse after beating it.[QUOTE="laughingman42"][QUOTE="musicalmac"]I'm not too sad when a game is on the short side. Gears of War was perfect if you ask me. most devs aren't talented enough to make games longer.CedmlnNo, today's technology requires much more work and a lot more money.

See what I mean? You just agreed with me.
The amount of work you put into something has nothing to do with talent.

It feels more worth your while. Ok a couple of short games are ok but alot more are poping up recently.

Have you EVER in your life played a Final Fantasy game? Don't get them confused /w the overrated Kingdom Hearts series.

I agree, CoD2 went on for a little too long, which I guess is why I thought Gears' length was perfect. Bioshock could have been longer. It just depends on the game.

Making a game longer takes work and doing it without making it suck takes talent.
But making a short game that's fun and has replay value also takes talent. i.e: Gears of war. Or Bioschok.
but imagen how uch better it would have been if it was longer and didn't get boring and repeatative while doing it. It would need more talent put into it. See what i mean?Cedmln
Yes, I was never arguing about that. I was arguing about how you said untalented devs make short games (paraphrasing).
No But I am sick of people complaining about short games. Name a FPS that is 30-40 hrs long? Some of the best games are 10-15 hours long.
