I bought most of this generations systems at or around launch this time for the first time ever, and I will not be doing that again. Too much uncertainty, higher prices, and lack of solid software on all the platforms is convincing me that I should be waiting for a while.
I've got all the systems I need for now to keep me more than happy, so I have no problem waiting for launch issues and prices to drop in this up-coming generation.
I'll be buying depending on launch software. You guys really try and milk this RROD thing like MS did it on purpose. I'm sure they realise the gravity of the mistake this time and will work hard to make it not happen again.
Did the terrible PS1 & PS2 hardware stop you buying Sony products?
Third time was the charm for Sony, maybe it work out the same for MS.
I'll wait at least six months, technically that's still to early but to play the games you sacrifice your money.
That's the way it's always been.

What do you mean by you guys?
I never had problems with the PS1, but i went through 4 PS2s(my 360 is still problem free) in the time i had it, and the reliability issues is what kept me from buying a PS3 at launch. I never had a xbox, but my friend had one and he never had any trouble with it, so i felt o pressure in buying a 360. But RROD struck and many people got it and they might rfrain from buying a xbox during launch(if there is no halo4 in the horizon). The original one was a well rounded product(though i never made a profit), but the 360 is making a profit but it as a design flaw, one that has not been fixed yet(though reduced).
No!! But I will buy the next Playstation during launch!! This time I go earlier. When PS3 launched I was the 365th person in line in NYC Sony Plaza (Kaz Hirai was present might I add)....well that makes me the 365 person in America to have a PS3 ... :D
Ok so can I get a cookie now?? :D
I won't buy it on launch, I'll wait a few months to see how high the hardware failure rate is, if it's respectable, I'll buy one, if the machine is as rushed out as this current gen's machine, I'll avoid it.
This gen, I got a wii and a 360 on launch, waited for the ps3 to have software *I* was interested in, and waited to see how stable the hardware is, the joke is, I bought the 360 thinking "My xbox 1 still works, and it hasn't been treated well, so, I have faith the 360 will be great."...I was of course wrong (wanna see the pictures?), plus at launch, a new Shadowrun game was being announced, etc, of course I thought it would be an RPG like the old Shadowrun, with hacking and stuff, turned out to be something completely different, but, I liked it anyways, but, that helped my decision.
Anyways, I won't make the mistake of buying either the sony or the microsoft product right at launch this time. The ps3 is stable, the ps2 was not, the xbox 1 was stable, the 360 is not...total f'n role reversal...except the 360 has the DRE, and the RRoD, and many many other problems like eating discs, etc...it's not cool.
While online the RROD seems to effect 99% of 360 owners, in reality my launch 360 Pro is humming away with no issues at all.
My launch purchase is and will always be dictated by software.
If Xbox 720 has a similar launch line-up to that of the 360 in terms of quality, then of course I will get it at launch, if it doesn't then I won't.
Not planning on it. However, if they really improve hardware quality next gen, I would consider it. Thats the main reason I wont buy MS this generation.Darthmatt
I would advise you not to by anything MS made.....maybe Windows XP! I got Windows Vista and oh man...so many problems with the damn thing. Also I got Gears of War for PC and I had so much problems with the game...it always turned off...than it didn't wanted to save...than it deleted my saved files...than live was forced on (wich is crap for PC's) also I had a Zune that broke like 2 months in (I always take very good care of everything I have so that wasn't the problem) and I hear that many zunes brake. Than a MS wireless mouse at my job broke.....I'm telling you that everything that MS makes is crap!! Everyhting brakes on you!
I think its abit early to say whether anyone will buy the next consoles on launch when we dont have any clue what the specs will be yet let alone pricing structure.
If Sony and MS pull a Nintendo next gen and only change the control method and leave the graphics at this gens level how many of u would fly out of the door to spend hundreds on a new console that doesnt do anythin the old one does for less than half the price??
Lets all wait and see which direction the big 3 are heading into before making any pointless decisions right now that will prob change a hundred times before the next consoles actually hit the shelves.
yes coz i know it willpwn and have best games and probably the best launch games ever like 360 (come on you cant say kameo, pdz, cod4, pgr3 and many more games were bad launch games)

I didn't know that cod4 launched with the 360.....man you guys where ahead of your time :D
With RROD MS screwed themselves, not only in the present, but also in the future. Many people who got a launch 360 got RROD(and other problems) and though it has been reduced, I will not get a new xbox during launch. I will let other people test them out before trying. I also bought a PS2 a month after launch and i got DRE after 6 months and it cost 100 bucks to fix it, so i(and many of my friends) didn't make that mistake with the PS3(though its reliable). So any one going for it?bigevil_rashekI am 100% positive MS wouldnt let somthing like RROD happen again. Why am I so positive? Well because this mistake cost them billions! They wont be rushing the next Xbox, and they'll be making sure theres no problems with it, before launch.

haha he ment COD2.RROD WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE NEXT XBOX MODEL! It has little effect in 360 right now so why do you think it would effect the next generation of MS system?
Depending on the launch games I may or may not by any of the 3's next gen launch systems. I bought a launch PS2 but would've never bought a luanch XBOX or gamecube because of the lack of good games. The same thing occured this gen as well: bought a Wii and 360, but couldn't bring myself to buy the PS3.

The launch of the Playstation, PS2 and PSP were the only consoles I bought on launch day. This gen was a bit tricky since at the time of the 360 launch I was eagerly awaiting the PS3 launch, but as the year went by I realized I wanted a 360 so a year and half AFTER the 360 launch I got one which by then alot of things were in place and there were some good games out. After seeing what the PS3 offered I was turned off and balked at getting one at launch. My friend on the other hand DID get one and after a year of seeing him play NOTHING on it and struggle with waiting for updates to do some of the things I already had been doing on 360 (Background downloading, downloadable content) I knew I'd better wait. Which I did a little over a year later I got one and while the PS3 is FINALLY getting it's act together (somewhat) there's still PLENTY it's missing and ALOT of things I hate about it.
Come next gen I will not be buying at launch since after seeing the fiasco this gen between hardware issues with 360 and lack of everything for PS3.
