I'm not. And before you say, "whatever, lemming", consider this:

I went from Atari 2600 to NES to Sega Genesis and SNES (though I liked Sega better) to PSone to PS2/Xbox (but I liked Xbox better) to 360.

Do you see any fanboy patterns there? Any brand loyalty? Nope. And honestly I'm proud of that.

Uh, Microsoft's home console line spans two generations (XBox and XBox360). Your console of choice last gen was XBox and your console of choice this gen is XBox360. Don't try to sell yourself as a neutral poster, because you're not. One of the only posters in all SW *I* have seen that deserves that honor is probably SpruceCaboose.

I definitely enjoy Nintendo consoles the most, but I support all of them. Just look at my sig to see what systems I own.

Yeah and NES and SNES are two Nintendo consoles in consecutive gens, what's your point? I don't need to "sell" myself as anything, I already know I'm neutral. But I think people who go "all over the place" with their console purchases are probably least likely to be fanboys and be objective.

It doesn't matter what consoles you get, and the poster mentioning the xbox spanning two generations and so on and so on makes some goodpoints about threadmaker.

I'm not a fanboy because I am blindly loyal to Nintendo.I'm a fanboy because Nintendo has satisfied me in almost every way and the other companies have nothing that interest me.If Sony and Microsoft or some other company were to have something that really compels me to buy their console, then I will stop being a fanboy, but for now,I'll stick with Nintendo, only because they have the stuff I want.

EDIT: There are games on the other consoles that I want, but none that really make me want to spend $500+ on a new console just to play them.

Loyalty to any company is dumb. I only play games; so why should I be loyal to a console.

Actually my loyalty to one company gets me lots of credit card bonuses. Since they actually have their own financial services...Triple the points from buying their products? Yes please. Free stuff like headphones, media and flash MP3 players. Sure...

So? You already said you preferred the Genesis. Your buying an NES doesn't make a whit of a difference either; the NES was pretty much the ONLY system to buy for years. Your neutrality isn't exactly manifested in the topics you create. If you can go for a month without creating an anti-Wii thread (impossible, I know, since you can't even make it a few days), then I may consider you less of a fanboy.

everyone has a preferred console. It is all about the gaming. However, if a company feel as though they are greater then their consumers, they should be taught a lesson. Sony should not have taken advantage of their brand name.

Never used to be loyal and I have been gaming for quite a while , BUT I have grown into it lately. When a company delivered for me twice in a row it is hard not to be that way.

Yeah, but it's funny that some people already say that they haven't delivered this time around, and we're barely in...

They're just bitter about the price and are using all kinds of other cop outs and excuses to justify their hate, when all you have to say is...THE PRICE SUCKS and that is that!

I guess by what platforms I've owned in the past, I'd be considered a Hermit for the most part. :P

Commodore 64, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows XP, and soon Windows Vista with a XP partition.

And in the past, I've also had a SNES and N64 with a few games I play, but I mostly do emulation now with some of my favorite games so I don't use the TV... ^__^;

That doesn't make you any less of a fanboy. Many people here, myself included, plan to buy a second (or third) console. I cheerfully admit that I buy Nintendo consoles for their reliability and first party games. Judging by your first post, though, you may have trouble seeing any other point of view, seated as you are on your high horse ("Any brand loyalty? Nope. And honestly I'm proud of that.").

I think it's already been shown that having bought a console from company A in the past doesn't somehow exempt you from fanboyism. Look at mr_pops: he adores the NES and now passionately hates everything Nintendo. All of his posts start with "Nintendo" and end with "flop." I think you made this thread in response to posts in another questioning your impartiality.

I also agree blind loyalty to a company is foolish. I started off with NES, then SNES, followed by the N64. I was happy with the N64 but had friends with playstations which I also enjoyed many games for. From there grabbed a ps2 and Gcube, didn't really play a whole lot of either of them, loved MGS on ps2 but it gets old after playing through a few times then was addicted to my first online shooter Socom on ps2. Then was on to some PC gaming, played some counterstrike, battlefield 1 and 2, FFXi and WoW and now looking at consoles again. 360 is looking like it makes the most sense right now.

loyalty is for bird brains.

Ya if you got almost 2 grand to blow on gaming consoles. Most of us have to pay rent and other bills.

I pay rent and bills too. Some people do make more than others you know....whats the point of making money if you have none to spend?  Get a better job no?

Only thing missing here is a PS3, than I'm set:

Nagidar

The dreamcast is looking awesome if there was online multiplayer for marvel vs capcom 2, i would play my dreamcast everyday.

I moved to Norfolk (Military) and my wife packed my DC and couldn't find it for a long time, I finally decided to look for it and I found it burried in a closet.

That set-up is amazing. It's just like mine only instead of awesome surround-sound and an HDTV I have 7 additional consoles, all retro, and a 21" CRT moniter. :x..must....get....surround....sound..:x:x:x

I have brand loyalty to Nintendo because they've consistantly delivered excellent games. And that's what really matters to me. That being said I have huge respect for what Microsoft has done with the 360. As for Sony? Well, I don't hate them, I just really think they've dropped the ball.

Being loyal to a specific brand is pointless.  I have a DS, a Wii (my brother's), a PS2, and an Xbox 360 in my house and I play all of them.  I'm not interested in the PS3 because none of its games impress me, especially for the price they're asking for, and the Wii doesn't look like a console I would ever want to play by myself so I'm waiting until more party games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl come out before considering getting one myself.   I'm not loyal to the Xbox brand because I didn't have an Xbox last gen, thought it looked like a piece of crap and I was right since every decent game that came out for the system eventually came out for a system I owned.

Not to mention if I was loyal to a brand and had a PS2 last gen, I would be stuck with a PS3 right now, and that would suck.  I don't want to be stuck with a crappy console that I don't honestly like just because I liked the last console before it.  That's stupid.

I'm not loyal to a brand, but I still love disproving fanboys, no matter what brand they're loyal to.
