If you havent played the demo yet youd be skeptical but dont underestimate cause its a skating game.

It basically blows THPS out of the water . . . the demo alone is one of the most addictive and fun games ive played in a long time.

Graphics are great, the controls once you get used to them are perfect and the online seems likes it going to be a blast.

Im hyping this for a 8.5-9.0. I would say 9.0 guaranteed but the only problem there is with this game is the camera can obscure your view sometimes and it can be annoying but it doenst happen often.

p.s. i dun skateboard irl and havent played a skateboarding game since THPS3.

I played every Tony Hawk game from 1 through 3.

Skate takes a more realistic approach but I find the right thumb stick being used for ollies and flip tricks kind of awkward. I like and hate the camera view at the same time.

I'm a lot less skeptical of Skate now after playing the demo. But pulling of tricks and such feels more complex than it should.

I hype it low AA.

Yeah I found it tough to get the hang of the controls at first but once I got into it I found it really rewarding. Even when your only doing simple combo's it feels a lot more skillfull than THPS and the replay editor is awesome (ollied off a rail and slammed my board into some guys head by accident, the slowmo was hilarious!)

I agree completely. Skate is to Forza as Tony hawk is to Burnout. In other words, Skate is a much, much more realistic skating experience. Every trick that you do in Skate is satisfying and I'm especially fond of grinding. I think Skate could possibly turn out to be my favourite sports game of all time. I'm hyping it AA.

And this is coming from a Tony Hawk fan.. I have almost every Tony Hawk game. (1 through 4, Underground 1 and 2, American Wasteland and THP8 )

I couldn't manual, no matter what I did.

Pull back on the stick? My dude just crouches.

Pull back slower? My dude just crouches slower.

Pull back just a tiny little bit? My dude just crouches a tiny little bit.

I gave up eventually.

Seems alright... I'm going to say A at best though, in light of recent hard hitting reviews.

Yeah I'm a big Tony Hawk fan too, and I still love those games - as you said skate is a different kind of experience. So while its still fun to pull of a 200m grind while doing a handstand in TH I feel more proud when I manage to grind to manual in skate. Even though I've never really skated in real life I'd assume it feels closer to reality than any other skating game so far...

Yeah thats definitely thecorrect one then, ur right it is pretty tricky tho. If you do give it another chance try doing the nose manuals, I find them easier for some reason

Like i said it takes time getting used to and theres alot of little tricks you can only learn from just playing for a while and getting used to it.

For manuals just gently press forward or back so its near the center.

Heres a list of all flickit tricks for Regular stance:

www.ea.com/images/games/skate/v2/features/wallpaper/flickit_regular_wallpaper.jpg

To do backflips/frontflips off a ramp(need lots of air) . . press RT or LT and left stick up or down
