Anyone miss a game like Mass Effect?

Filled with lore, a good and engaging story, interesting characters and choices that were meaningful to story development?

We have the Witcher 3 but the choices didn't feel as meaningful to the game as mass effect's and dragon age Inquisition is a joke.

I think maybe I miss BioWare before EA destroyed it... And you, SW?

Ps.: I'm not counting Andromeda since it's a PoS.

Where were these meaningful choices exactly?

I am stuck on a mission in Mass Effect Andromeda and I just don’t even want to play it anymore.

I have no idea why they made this game 100 times harder than the first 3 games. The difficulty spikes are insane.

If I ever go back to it, I will have to backtrack an hour to get out of some underground base cave made by those Million year old aliens....revenant? I forget.

Why make a mission available that early if it’s impossible to beat?

Not for a while I think because I'm convinced that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be amazing. Don't know if you guys know about the source material but it's really good for a game. That studio somehow manages to find these gems that most people aren't even aware of to form the basis of their games. They have somewhat mentioned that certain things will be in this game from Cyberpunk 2020. Don't know if you guys are interested in some lore or classes or systems from the pen and paper game, or just the general vibe that could make it into the game.

I believe there is a vague rumor that the pen and paper game will even get a major overhaul (called Cyberpunk 2077?) some time after the videogame releases.

It's a shame the series started to dwindle in quality. The first 2 excellent 3 not so much and I haven't bothered with Andromeda.

I really miss story heavy games. Too much multiplayer going on.

There's a game out there that's a lot like Mass Effect. It's like "low budget" Mass Effect, unfortunately the dialogue is kind of corny, but the game is all right, it's called Technomancer. It's not half as bad as people say it is, but it's not great either.

If you want to go back a few years, there's also Alpha Protocol. It's basically Mass Effect, except all about espionage; like Jason Bourne/James Bond meets Mass Effect. Now that game, that game is where your choices matter.

Pretty much how I feel. I don't remember the NPCs, the playable character, and the plot was underwhelming...but it was fun to play! Unfortunately for it, the ME series is a series where I prefer the opposite; compelling story, great characters, and awesome hero to play as...the gameplay can be average, for all I care.

Bioware needs to give Jade Empire another go, prove they can make games like they used to.

HZD had same level of interesting lore in it. The diary fragments you kept finding from the days before Horizon Zero Dawn was put into effect, really added to the game, and really added to the atmosphere of the game.

Same with MGSV: the casette tapes were filled with great lore and jokes too, if you took time to listen to them. This really elevated the game above others of its ilk.

ME Andromeda had lore too, if you bothered to finish it.

DAI has piles of lore.

I miss playing a game that feels like mass effect 1... A ripe open galaxy of possibility.... I don't even mind that planets had the same bunkers and they were spaced out over great distances... It actually made it feel more real to be honest.

No, it was another shallow game built around narrative, despite having a weak one, and world building. The style of game is still prevalent today, ME was just slightly better at it.

Hahaha, meaningful choices where the 3rd game gave everyone only one ending.

They really screwed the pooch on Mass Effect. I enjoyed the first two, but they weren't anywhere near The Witcher series, and the third was just kind of awful.

Yea I miss old Bioware. I want Anthem to be good but I have this nagging suspicion it will suck.

Not sure about that. EA handed Mass Effect to the B team who didn't have much experience and screwed up big time.

Eh, I do miss it. But, I go back & play the series anyway. BTW, Dragon Age Inquisition is an good game to me.

I still have to play the first couple. Maybe someday. I've got a long list of games I'd rather play first, so there it stands

I'm one of the few that has never played any Mass Effect game or TW3. As far as ME goes, though, I can tell they're great games and sure I'd love to see more elaborate open worlds like that.

Well I miss Mass Effect because the first three were excellent and Andromeda was disappointing so the franchise seems to be on hiatus. However there are still other excellent games with stories and lore that I really enjoy. I’m really hoping that Anthem turns out to be a great game.

Wall-cover TPS is boring gameplay. The characters and writing wasn't great. The dialogue options were limited to a pie chart. Exploration was tedious, and the plot-line was boring.

Would rather play a good old CRPG, which thankfully, we are in abundance of once again.

You don't have to care about anyone's opinion, if all you're doing is looking to make your topic an echo chamber instead of... oh you know, an open discussion on a public forum.

And besides, the claim that Witcher 3 is lacking in meaningful choices isn't a matter of opinion, not when that position is objectively false.

As much as I dislike EA, I dont think they killed bioware. Bioware sold itself out.

I'm burned out on 3rd-person games which is why my Mass Effect trilogy remains unfinished. But, I'll resume the three whenever I get out of of my 3rd-person rut.

For the series to start out almost excruciatingly open ended to filter down into three different colored endings was astoundingly disappointing. Haven't touched Andromeda. Not compelled to.

Hopefully Cyber Punk 2077 isn't too far off.

But yeah, we haven't had a great RPG since TW3. BOTW was good, but light on the lore.

Too many devs these days care more about turning a quick profit (see influx of movie games and sandbox trash) than creating an immersive gaming experience.

I do. The Mass Effect trilogy is probably my favorite gaming experience. Its world, lore, atmosphere and characters were brilliant. Andromeda just lacked the soul that the trilogy packed and had mediocre written all over it. I still enjoyed it but as a continuation of the series, it failed. Bioware seems to be going downhill with Inquisition also feeling lackluster compared to how great Dragon Age: Origins was. Hopefully, they'll get back on track with both franchises.

Then just play the trilogy /s

And your original comment on the Witcher 3 was an OPINION that made no sense because Objectivly if we counted up the meaningful choices made in these games they are all in the same ballpark! (Hell, Witcher series has been praised for being more so than most!)!.

If you want those kinda games there are pleanty of modern-CRPG's , but hey they are not Third Person Shooter Action RPG's so I guess by your "Op...Facts" that's a -3 in score straight away.

Yes i miss Mass effect and Dead Space. Shame EA killed both. Bioware is not the original team anymore, EA people took over thats why it sucks and Viceral Games got shut down. Sad times in gaming.

I also miss Bioshock and Killzone, my favorite console shooters. That feeling of Bio 1... a city underwater, the atmosphere was so good.. the art style and characters... man i miss those times. Now its like coloful retarded CoD or Fortnite generic full retard charaters for the mentally unstable society of today. When will there be a good multiplayer game like Killzone 2? I wanna feel like im actually shooting a gun as i see blood come out the mf im killing. Gaming today is a joke for fortnite kids lol.
