I just joined gamefly and noticed they also sell the games they rent.... and the games were anywhere from 39.99 for a new game, to 14.99 for a used game like the new splinter cell... anyone who used this service or bought a game from them know why so cheap?

Presumably because you're already paying them the monthly fee. Unless you don't have to be subscribed to buy their games, but I kinda doubt it.

You don't. The catch is they wont sell newly released used games. They have a keep it feature where members who have the game rented already can get the prices he quotes. When a game is old enough though they start selling it used to anyone like a store with comparable used prices to everywhere else.

probably because the copies are heavily used in their rental service, and might not be in the best of quality when you purchase them. that would be my guess.

I've had less problems with my used gamefly games then gamestop.

Yup. I have a PS3, and stand alone blu ray player. I have never had a bad blu-ray disc from netflix, gamefly, gamestop, etc.

But I've never had a bad 360, or Wii Disc, or Gamecube disc, or Xbox or PS2 disc from Gamefly either.

Incorrect. They only sell games that are in playable condition, they also send along a brand new case and manual. I've had zero issues with condition, and I've used GF on and off for 5 years.

That used to be the case sometimes, but not any more. A while after the Orange Box came out, I rented it from GF, and it had a half inch crack from the middle on out, but it still played lol. Now a days every game I receive from them is in great condition, if not brand new. I bought Bayonetta from them for just $15 and the game, case, and manual was like brand new.

Also because the discs are in worse condition than you'd find in, say, GameStop.

Not at all in my experience. I've gotten more ****ed up discs from Gamestop then even Ebay or Blockbuster.

You can actually buy a brand new game as used, if you are the first person to get it. For example I got Dead Rising 2 from them as soon as it came out. My copy was brand new but I had the option to buy it for 43 bucks as soon as they shipped it. (I declined).

Netflix for videogames. I'm sure the Gamefly website would have all the info you are looking for.

Gamefly actually seems pretty bad ass, might have to sign up. Seems they don't ship to the great white north though. Might have to check out http://www.gameaccess.ca

You pay a monthly fee to rent games that they send to you in the mail. You can rent 1 to 4 games for an unlimited time with the option to buy them if you want. You can also trade games in to get credit toward the monthly fee. I've used them for 7 years and I get to play pretty much everything I want.

The trick is logistics. You have to make sure that if there is a game coming out that you want to play, you have a spot in your rental queue open about a week before the game comes out. You also need to account for delivery time when shipping back your games. I've seen too many people complaining that the service sucks because they lack the common sense to realize that it takes time for the post office to send your stuff back to them, so if you wait too long you are going to screw yourself. It's rental by mail, account for transport time both ways.

Yea, it's a nice service if you can get it. Saves me a good bit of loot even though I'm usually a PC gamer since I'll rent the multiplats I'm not sure on, then buy the PC version later if I feel so inclined. Not to mention all the one and done games for someone with ADD like myself ;)

I'll be buying from them..although I won't join. I think the benefit of joining is that you get free shipping if you opt to buy the games...am I right? I won't mind paying for shipping with their games being sold at quite the cheap price. :P

it seems like an awesome service... I signed up on the 15th and they shipped me my first choice (a high profile game they say you have a 25 to 49 % chance of getting right away) the very next day.. Game was enslaved and I think they said I ould keep it for like 40 bucks... So I'm psyched

If you buy a game it comes with the original case and manual. Since it's never given out they are always in perfect condition.

the game case and manuals are never used. They keep them at the warehouse until someone buys the game. When you buy the game, they send you the empty case and manual. Works like a charm.

Unlike Gamestop they know the difference between a new game and a used copy. One a game has been opened it is no longer new, therefore they sell it to you at their used game price. The cool thing about it is, if you are the first to get the game, then you have basically bought a "new" game at a used game price, since no one has rented the game before you.
