So yesterday Battleborn was released and the Overwatch early access beta also started.
For those interested in these types of games, what do you think of them?
I would like to hear how you guys compare the two.
They are different sub genres. other than being fps and colourful... they dont aim at the same gameplay at all.
I play and love Battleborn, I'll play Overwatch tomorrow when the beta comes out but other than the look, they are really 2 different games. People that enjoy Battleborn type of game won't automatically like Overwatch and vice versa.
I've put about 10hrs into both betas. They're both good in their own right and I won't knock anyone for picking either or but I'm going to go with Overwatch. To me, Overwatch has a certain charm that Battleborn is lacking in and it seems much more polished overall.
I played both betas and enjoyed both. I think Overwatch is more polished and have tighter controls. Battleborn seem to have more content out the box like a campaign and more game modes. If I had to choose one I'd get Overwatch first. I think my bro will get it so we'll be game sharing so I guess I could end up getting Battleborn sooner than later.
Played both and liking both so far. I only played 2 matches of OVerwatch though, I'm not big on spending too much time with betas.....but my limited time with the game was positive, smooth responsive gameplay, nice art style, and I'm digging all the variety of characters. So I'll be playing this quite a bit on release.
Battleborn I played the beta and purchased the game, started my playthough yesterday, so far loving it....basically for similar reasons I mentioned for Overwatch..pretty nice graphics and personality, yes the game has personality(same with OVerwatch)....nice character designs. Thing is I love online coop shooters and those 2 games just feel fresh to me, and more importantly, they work very well! I mean no online issues, gameplay feels great....so I'm off to a good start with both but I only scratched the surface though but so far so good!
edit: OVerwatch was PVP though, but BB was PVE just played first story mission, pretty cool...Gamespot review impressions similar to mine so far I would say
MOBA's aren't my thing, so naturally I disliked Battleborn. TF2 is my favorite game, so you can guess what I thought of Overwatch.
Can confirm Overwatch sucks. Downloaded the beta, played 3 matches, deleted it. This is the kinda shit hermits hype up lol.
I've played both and both were enjoyable, key difference is Overwatch is PvE. Wound up playing OW on PC for 3 hours last night, will probably get this on launch, love the character selection. I tried the beta on the Battleborn on xb0ne and its pretty decent but will probably wait to pick it up on sale at some point.
I deleted BB beta after i got killed in a 1v1 fight by an outleveled healer, who tanked through all of my DD-hero damage and gave no fucks.
I appreciate what the game is trying to do and i think it'll find its fans, but as far as Shooter/MOBA hybrids go, i still consider Monday Night Combat to be the best. That one had its MOBA mechanics, but was all about landing your shots and outplaying opponents, not about who has the highest level.
BB is definitely the most shooter'y out of these recent hybrids coming out (Paragon, Paladins, etc), but it's still more of a MOBA than a Shooter. Which to me defeats the purpose of the exercise.
And Overwatch is basically an evolution of Team Fortress 2, which i consider to be one of the best multiplayer shooters in existence.
So it's k.

so basically you got rekt

Yeah I did I'm a casual scrub :p
Decided to give it another go and I've been having more fun with it this time. The Widowmaker character is pretty sweet.

I've been playing since the closed beta and my favs been widowmaker, reaper, genji and zenyatta, haven't really gotten liking to any of the tank characters
So far I'm not enjoying Overwatch as much as TF2. The rounds are so fast that it doesn't really feel like there is enough time to figure out what the other team is doing and adapt to it. There is a lot of complexity in the interplay between the classes that feels like it doesn't have a chance to emerge properly due to the incredibly brief rounds. Especially the mode where both teams fight for a single point - so far in 4/5 of those games, whichever team has the better initial rush gets the point and keeps it. Not much fun for the other team.
also not a fan of the character designs. There is no cohesive style, its just a bunch of random shit
To me they both looks booring, cartoony MP only games that will again get stale and boring after one hour.
@SexyJazzCat:
Overwatch is crap compared to TF2 after playing the beta. It runs like s*** because of the horrendous dynamic rendering scale that you can't disable. The maps are half or less the size of the TF2 maps, and max player count is only 12 (what the actual f***?). I was waiting all week to give Overwatch a shot since I didn't get into the beta and it has been by far the biggest disappointment I have had in the last year or so. It is absolute garbage IMO.
I downloaded the beta on ps4 overnight. Will be trying it out after work today.
My thoughts are pending...

Roadhog is fun to use. Reeling people in with the hook then blasting them in the face is so satisfying. The other tanks are eh.
I'm really digging Overwatch so far, and I blindly went into it. I'm gonna pre-order it, I'm sold on it.
They both were pretty boring to me. I think I prefer Battleborn a bit more though. I haven't been into shooters in a while because they all get boring after a few rounds. For some reason I did enjoy the gears beta because dodgeball kind of spiced things up.
I've never played Battleborn, but Overwatch is awesome. It's like LoL meets Team Fortress. It's a shame that it's $60, though. The only MP only game that I've paid that much for is Titanfall, and that was only because my kids wanted it so bad. I would probably get Overwatch at launch if it was $40, though...
@SerOlmy: It runs fine for me. So far I am liking TF2 more though. After a while of playing Overwatch I just feel like going back to TF2. I don't think the game is crap though.
I love TF2. Played around 800 hours of it. Overwatch feels like the next game for pretty much because it's "New". TF2 lost its competitive edge for me when the floodgates were open for a constant stream of new players and players who only care about making money on hats. I know TF2 is getting its competitive mode but Overwatch came out first.
So I finally got around to playing a bit of Overwatch beta.
Played against some AI to get to know the game. I want to play support and tried Mercy. Staying in the back and healing seems pretty powerful. Her resurrect ultimate seems strange cause you revive fairly quickly anyway.
Any suggestions on a good support?

Unless you're playing on console, you can. It's in video > advanced options.
and max player count is only 12 (what the actual f***?).
What's your problem with that?
It's the format they chose based on playtesting. Just like most competetive games now are 5v5.
Any suggestions on a good support?
Well, you've played one of them already.
Mercy and Lucio are top-tier supports, having at least one of them on the team is pretty much a must if you're planning to win.
@dz8t2t: OVerwatch is PVE? ....I thought I was playing PVP ...maybe I was really tired and didn't realize it lol...I only played 1 match. I have played several matches of BattleBorn and that is definitely PVE(although there is PVP as well).
It is a mix of Boderlands gameplay with MOBA concepts. It's nice to have different roles within a team, at least 1 healer, etc. I got an Evolve3 vibe out of it as well, while playing with the healer. The online missions last around 30 min, decent length. It's fast paced arcade type gameplay, I like it.

Her skill revives all curently fallen, so it's a good skill for a rush.
I picked Lucio for the speed boost, you give it to Pharah...hell on earth will rapid rockets, my friend.
Overwatch by far. I really love it, been playing all day since Wed. Might become one of the top PC shooters next to GO and TF2. Not sure about how it plays on console.
Decided to try out the Overwatch beta tonight. Before I knew it 2 and a half hours had flown by.
Game is a BLAST! Junkrat is just insane amounts of fun and I seem to be pretty damn effective with him as well!
Literally won the game for my team the last match I played. Jumped in to get a triple kill which allowed us to get the final cap!
Played both, and i like Overwatch more.
More intesresting characters and can't believe i'm saying this, but no level system makes it more fun cause i'm just focused on playing.
That's not surprising, level systems were always there for compulsive reasons as opposed to actually adding depth to the gameplay in multiplayer shooters.
I've played the battleborn beta and I thought it was ok. I got bored though after a couple hours so I don't think I'll be buying that any time soon if at all. Been playing Overwatch and I must say I'm having a blast with it. Got it on PC and the game runs great. Love playing as reaper, soldier 76, roadhog, and Mei. Roadhog is awesome as I like hooking people and blasting them in the face. Mei is fun for slowing speedsters like genji down by freezing them and then finishing them off. Played a few hours last night and had a lot of fun. Glad I preordered this a while ago on Amazon. Can't wait for it to release on the 24th. So definitely getting overwatch. Passing on battleborn.
So yesterday Battleborn was released and the Overwatch early access beta also started.

I would like to hear how you guys compare the two.
For those that loved Borderlands/Destiny will love Battleborne
For those that love a competitive fps scene with MOBA elements will love Overwatch.
Since the genre itself is fairly new, Battleborne will appease to the Co-op crowd, while Overwatch is for more of the competitive scene.
Pros of Battleborne is the nifty loot system giving you more of an incentive to play and unlock things
Drawbacks of Battleborne is that the MP is pretty weak in comparison to Overwatch
Pros of Overwatch is that it will have a huge following, super competitive and the skill gap is huge
Drawbacks of Overwatch is that there is no single player or coop
OVERALL: Overwatch has better multiplayer elements, sometimes it just seems like you have to shoot at a guy for 5 minutes before they die in Battleborne and it starts to feel like a chore when you are fighting someone.
I don't like either... I don't know why, I grew up playing Quake and Counter Strike and I just can't get into first person shooters that feel just I can't explain it but floaty?
wow, I just read that the Overwatch beta is basically the full game, there will be some bug fixes before full release but the content we have now in the beta is what will be in the game at launch. Going to play it a little more then, I thought I was playing a limited version of the full game as is the case with betas usually.
