Anyone Surprised that the 360 still has THIS kind of Power. RAGE

Rage litteraly blew Adam Seesler of X-Play and everyone at E3 2010 away with its Bleeding edge visuals and lightning fast frame rate running on the same XBOX 360 arcade you have sitting on your shelf.

( KEEP IN MIND THIS IS MULTIPLAT BUT THEY SHOWED THE 360 VERSION AT E3 2010 )

now, Despite the fact that ATI themselves said that developers were barely scratching the surface of what the 360 could do ( back in 2007 no less...) is anyone here who owns a 360 ( or Hates it ) surprised that now in 2010 the 360 is running a game that clearly looks better than anything else on the market despite its detractors saying it was '' Maxxed out ''.

Anyone not impressed by this has issues....

they say its maxed out because most games just use the unreal 3 engine and make minor tweaks. The unreal 3 engine is maxed out... not the hardware.

rage is running on the whole new id tech 5 engine. Alot of people underestimate exactly what a game engine can do... and id who are masters at developing game engines showed everyone.

I never said it was crap! :P I'm actually anticipating the title - the problem is, the game itself isn't indicative of any untapped power that either console may have - it merely makes use of certain techniques to give the illusion of this.

... and DarkLink, I'm a PC-gamer, you should know this by now. Dynamic lighting does matter to me! :x :P

But as nice as dynamic lighting is (and id does it damn well), I really don't think it's necessary when the game looks so good. I mean, if you didn't know, would you notice?

And besides... I plan to get it on PC as well. You know, where id games are MEANT to be played (Carmack said there would be moar bells and whistles for teh PC). What is this console nonsense?

outside of pics, i havent even looked at a video of RAGE.

I just randomly skipped through that E3 video and.......wasnt this game supposed to be a racing game / fps hybrid?

looked like a normal shooter from what ive just seen.

Some ppl are surprised because 360´s capabilities have allways been pretty underhyped on these boards. It´s a powerfull console especially considering it´s 05 technology! As powerfull as a PS3

...U2, GOW3, and KZ2/3 all look much better

I don't know, the fast framerate is all that I'm impressed by as far as what I've seen. The "megatexture" is cool, and I can appreciate the effort, but I still find that it's one of those details I'll never notice in game. Like, this gen anyway, I've never been playing a game and said "oh, I've seen that texture so many times this game."

Just something I never notice. When I look at Rage's visuals, I don't think it looks that good. I think there are better looking 360 games, and that's not including other systems.

Still looks like it could be a fun game to me though, may pick it up if I see more exciting gameplay vids later on down the road, what I've seen so far looks boring and static.

Like everyones been saying for ages, devs determine the power of consoles. What did you expect the gods of tech to achieve (iD and Crytek), when compared to other, less talented 3rd party devs? :? The fact that all of the PS3s best looking games were developed by 1st party with absurd dev costs, doesn't prove anything. The PS3 and 360 are roughly the same power, get over it. :roll:

As I said to DarkLink, that is not what I intended. The game does indeed look amazing at this point. However, it should not be used a barometer for console "power" when it uses such features. That was my original point with that post. :P
