Apparently there were "Trade-offs" in reversing DRM.

And yet, Phil Spencer does not specify where that trade-off is.

However, we know that it's not a hardware issues at least. Hopefully they get around it, bu I am questioning the impact of this trade-off, since no one is saying anything. Maybe they are back to their "don't say anything" that started from the revela until 2 weeks after E3, which is dumb because all that did was scare people last time.

Hopefully it's something minor.

Trade off were features like the family sharing, which is a pity. But MS still have plans for it, so i'm hoping we'll still get it down the line.

One hundred percent this. People complaining about DRM killed what would have made their system a legitimate competitor with the PS4. Now it is nothing more that a second rate system. Take that with a grain of salt mind you. I own a Wii U.

False if the cloud could make up that much of a difference the PC would of taken advantage of it a long time ago.

How would the PC gave taken advantage of cloud "a long time ago"? Like say .. when 33.6K baud modems were mainsteam?

I look forward to your series of lectures on the topic. In particular I look forward to hearing about cloud implementation when bandwidth and latency were so limiting eg: "a long time ago".

The trade off is disc free play genius. First there was no plan for game trades, and no 24 hour DRM check, rights would be assigned to a user account and thus tied to the users console, offline gameplay would be allowed after registration. There was no used games..

When it was just rumored the stir caused by that caused them to implement used games, but it was a discless system, they needed to account for rights so people couldn't install games and lend them or sell them and play them offline. That's when that horrible solution came about. So to solve it, they got ride of discless play. You'll now need discs in the drive to play the games, or do digital download.

Personally, I'd rather no used games and just have disc installs (to prevent large download times), play discless afterwards with no DRM checks needed.
