2.You might stop watchig Hollywood movies and unrealistic games like Killzone and start watching Mythbusters instead

Even a .50 Caliber bullet does not have the momentum to knock a person backwards. If it were possible, the shooter would be knocked backwards as well - as per Newton's Third Law.

F, myth busters u can go crouch down and wear some armor and then we'll shoot u in the upper chest and see how u respond, and that killzone 2 thing wasnt violently, he got knocked off balance and fell over, he didnt go flying through the air

Have you ever been shot before? Because he is wearing such bullet protection as you call it, it would throw you back. From such short distances the force would be massive, and wouldnt be absorbed or dissipated, so it would throw you back a fair distance. If the bullet entered the body then yeh, the force would dissolve through the body and leave via the exit wound, but if it just hit and stopped you would go flying backwards.
Edit: By the way, i think this gif also shows just how seriously awesome Killzone 2 will be. I mean, how he turns around and looks at you first then swings the gun around to shoot you. Watch it a few times and its clear that it was more so the surprise of being shot and quickly standing up was what put him off balance and made him fall. I dunno about you, but sometimes i have been slightly knocked off balance but taken a dozen or so steps backwards before i regained balance. I think thats whats happened, he was just thrown off balance more than anything and the momentum just carried him over.

It depends on wether or not the bullet went completely through. If the bullet had stopped short of his front vest he wouldn't have died, so it at least went through.
