So was anyone here thinking of purchasing an ipad, because if I were you I would think again.

I don't see the Palm Pre owning hte iPhone, since the Palm Pew is basically a cell phone version of that, and the Pre is getting owned by the iPhone

yeah i was surprised that many manufacturers are going down the tablet route, i think the idea fails hard. this has much better specs and exactly what the ipad should have been... decent hdd, 2gb ram, usb port, proper os support... it's unfortunate that all the goons will buy the ipad thinking it's cool and the best, when in reality it fails hard. i thought that netbooks would become the future portable computer, but it seems it's going to be tablets.

it depends how much this cost, around £300 seems about right considering you can get a similar spec netbook for around £200.

Apple products are usually overpriced. Yes, the iPhone was a great device with great success, but making it bigger and calling it iPAD is just not enough. Though Windows is not perfect, products that can run Windows are usually better. And this iTablet looks like a better alternative.

Apple hasn't been owned in any way. The iPad is only $500, it's not even overpriced. It's about the weakest thing I've seen come out of Apple, it's just a giant iPod Touch with 3G, but at least it makes an attempt to have an intuitive layout that will work on a touch screen. I know from personal experience by controlling my computer with my iPhone's VNC app that a normal OS layout does not work with touch screen.

Personally, I find Microsoft's Courier much more interesting. Its like an online notebook, very cool. Though, it's not aimed for the same market as most tablets. Besides that, I would love the iPad if it was much more than a larger iPod Touch. How about a better OS? Multitasking? Widescreen? Etc.

Apple owns because its Apple. Their products just look amazing. My friends were on about the nexus 1 google phone whatever it is, I youtubed it and the FIRST thing i noticed was that it was ugly. Straight away thats going to put people off (not everyone). Apple just has this "cool" about it. Everyone knows its over priced etc but still there is a quality about their things that just impresses me and alot of others.

I'm really starting to hate apple. Don't get me wrong I'd be really happy if I was offered ANY of their products, but they overprice everything by so much it just makes it impossible to even consider buying. It's a company that caters to rich kids and that pisses me off. And yes if I was rich I wouldn't care, but I'm not...

You will have a hard time finding anything that is more expensive than Apple's macs or the ipad with the same hardware

For the size and cost of the iPad, I'm expecting something I can run Visual Studio on, not just a glorified phone.
