IGN had the opportunity to sit down and interview several members behind the development of the iPhone 15 Pro. Specifically, the interview dives into Apple's gaming ambitions for the iPhone 15 Pro and why the tech giant believes "it's going to be the best game console."

@mesome713. RIP NINTENDO SWITCH and NINTENDO unless they release something as powerful as the IPhone 15 soon. :😭

Why do people assume just playing on the phone? What about hooking it up to a tv?

@SolidGame_basic: Because who does that...

I mean its ultra niche. I guess if you are travelling somewhere and want to play at a hotel or friend's house, I guess...

I mostly get iPhone 1X Pro every year from work anyway so its a nice feature for us iPhone users anyway

Why would it be ultra niche? There are 130 million people who play their Switch. Imagine being able to play AAA games with your phone on a tv.

Outside of a few niche games like Magic Arena, I do not play games on my phone. When I am away from my house, it is because I have stuff to do, not to be spending my time gaming.

When I am home, I will always choose playing on one of my consoles over a phone. Even if it is hooked to a tv, I just don't see the games on phones that I want to play.

Just my opinion.

At least they aren't sacrificing console sales to prop up their mobile cloud gaming investment.

Apple is basically killing off all of MS's mobile cloud gaming investments with native support on iPhone. lol

Can't imagine enjoying any games on a mobile phone. Haven't touched a game since Bejeweled and candy crush.

@Nonstop-Madness: apple will be forced to open up their eco system to allow 3rd party stores soon enough. That's what the epic lawsuit is about. When that happens, you can expect to see gamepass on your iPhone.

I would still say the same thing I said last time:

The way Apple breaks compatibility, I don't think it's a good way to build a game library. They have a history of coming out every few years to throw gamers a bone, and then it's silence and cold water.

So can we play game pass games natively on the device?

Oh... Apple doesn't allow Game Pass on the Apple store? Well then. Have fun playing candy crush.

Lol no thanks, Apple products aren't liked in my household for obvious reasons. Anyway, like every new gen IPhone you can get better performance and features with a competitor for a cheaper price. The S23 Ultra either matches or beats the new IPhone 15 pro in every single spec for a fraction of the price and still allows gamepass on their device so Apple's late to the party once again.

@theam0g: They could add their games to Apple Arcade. lol

@kvallyx: They'll get paid. It'll just be on Apple's terms. Apple will get their 30% cut from the App Store and, continue to block GamePass. Perhaps they could cut a deal to get their games on Apple Arcade or, through providing the games via the App Store whether or not it's a subscription service.

I don't like Apple's iPhones for a personal reason. But still, for those who are excited picking up iPhone 15 Pro, hope it lives to your expectations everyone.

I absolutely LOVE that Apple is giving us a phone powerful enough to deliver a true home console experience. However, I don't see people replacing their dedicated gaming devices with the iPhone 15.

It's a neat idea for sure, But I think mobile users are already set in their ways on how they plan to use their tablets/phones. The additional power and other features are still welcome additions though. And while I do expect to see an up-tick in gaming, I think utility use will still be main driver behind tablets/phones.

Let people install Steam on their phones and I'll consider calling it a viable gaming handheld. **** buying the games I already own on the fucking Apple store just to get a phone locked product.

@SolidGame_basic: Hooking your phone up to your TV would be a very bad idea. First of all, phones are very personal devices so that connecting it to your massive living room TV and leaving it unlocked so other people can play games would be very bad for privacy, what if the other people in your house decide to open your phones message and browsing history on your TV for everyone else in your living room can see them? Nobody would want to do that.

Secondly, what if you want to go out somewhere, you have to constantly disconnect and reconnect your phone. Yeah, no thanks.

A $1,000 phone isn't going to replace a game console, Apple are on some heavy drugs if they think it will.

Epic already lost their lawsuit a long time ago. Were you living under the rock? However Apple will open their ecosystem to third party stores but that would be because of EU regulations not Epic, and it remains to be seen if Apple allows it everywhere or just in the EU.

@pc_rocks: yes we all know how corrupt and paid off US beauracrats are. This isn't news, and sadly we have to look to other parts of the world for these things to pass. If not for the EU, apple would still be shilling their garbage lightning charger instead of usb c, and the sheep would still be sucking them off. As someone who rarely buys anything Apple, or anything Nvidia for that matter, and frankly doubt I ever will, I can continue to hold my head high. Can't believe the stinking sheep out there supporting monopolies, shame on them.

Don't know but may be because they preparing to appeal at the Supreme Court since the decision was also upheld by the higher court.

It should be possible with Proton and an efficient x86 emulation layer (similar to that already used on Apple's own silicon). Apple is planning support for sideloading apps. Hopefully a full Steam client will get ported to more platforms in this way.
