Only someone who doesn't know how to work a PC would say that. Macs are overpriced, underpowered, and simplified to the point of stupidity.

If you believe a mac doesn't get hit with spyware/adware/trojans/backdoor downloaders/data miners/malware and all that stuff then your a bigger fool then phil harrison. By the way, its called a firewall.

I like the video though, he made a rather amusing presentation.

Negative, Ghost Rider. If you're a mac owner, you need not worry about adware/spyware/malware or viruses. Anyone who tells you otherwise is... well.. uneducated, and probably an angry nerd (that's how I classify Apple haters, because how you could hate Apple is a mystery to me. What have they done besides innovate?)

It only takes a matter of time for coders to figure out how to do it my friend. Most of them don't bother because the windows user base is much larger an thus a better target for there efforts.

They overprice based on image alone. And you don't need to worry as much about adware/spyware/malware/viruses, but they still exist. Personally, I have a five year old desktop that has NEVER caught a virus or had a spyware/adware/malware problem.

No they don't.

unless you don't want them to work....with maybe the exception of one that scans your computer AFTER the fact there's no way around it, Macs are less susceptible to viruses and spyware, and for many people that is a big plus, especially for people who don't know their way around computers as well as some of us

Wrong. Macs run more programs than PC's do. Macs can also run DX10 level shaders while any XP owner cannot. This is not an argument you want to try with me. If you don't believe me, look it up yourself.

They're not overpriced. You pay for what you get. If you go punch by punch, the mac is much better equipped than a factory PC. Do you know what kind of software ships with a new mac? I didn't think so.

I have NEVER EVER heard of a Mac getting a virus, spyware, adware, malware, etc.  Macs are pretty much invulnerable.

Training wheel bikes are headache-free bikes.

Training wheels are slow, Macs are not.

 You can get a computer with twice the specs for the same price as a Mac, so yes, they're slow.

it will be twice as fast for about a week than after all those spyware/adware/trojan/backdoor downloaders/data miners infest your windows installation it will be slower than the mac.

Hang on, are you pro-PC or pro-Mac? :| And I don't get hit by spyware/adware/trojan/backdoor/data miners/etc. The three best antispyware/antivirus/antiadware programes out there are free anyway.

but also have to be running in the background at all time

No they don't.

unless you don't want them to work....with maybe the exception of one that scans your computer AFTER the fact there's no way around it, Macs are less susceptible to viruses and spyware, and for many people that is a big plus, especially for people who don't know their way around computers as well as some of us

Hence why I said Macs are simplified to stupidity. You're paying up to an extra grand for LESS performance and LESS software compatibility, just so that you don't have to download four programers smaller than 50GB in size. Macs are not 100% proofed alone. Buy a Windows machine, even a corporate-built one like a Dell or Alienware, and you're already paying half the price of a Mac for even better performance and better software choices. Then all you do is download AdAware, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, and AVG Free, and you're MORE than 100% protected against anything the Internet can throw at you. I especially like Spyware Blaster. It immunizes your PC against all spyware, AND it doesn't run in the background. Only AVG runs in the background, and even if you ARE on a Mac, you should be running an antivirus anyway, especially since it's now an Intel machine.

something else worth mentioning is that Macs don't require regular reformatting to stay running optimally, which isn't the case for windows

We can argue till we're blue in the face, but angry nerds will stay that way- angry. Most haters don't even know what they hate! The operating system, the hardware, Apple in general... There is no reason to hate Apple.

maybe better software for games, but if you are in to video editing, home recording, or other artistic stuff, macs have a better library of programs and are considered to be the standard for prosumers.

I have NEVER EVER heard of a Mac getting a virus, spyware, adware, malware, etc. Macs are pretty much invulnerable.viper7721

No thats because its not worth targeting 10k macs when you can target about a 10 mil pcs. macs are expensive and stupid the only thing good about a mac is the camera built in, the fact that the imac looks so cool the look of the os and the ppc processor

[QUOTE="magus-21"][QUOTE="musicalmac"]Negative, Ghost Rider. If you're a mac owner, you need not worry about adware/spyware/malware or viruses. Anyone who tells you otherwise is... well.. uneducated, and probably an angry nerd (that's how I classify Apple haters, because how you could hate Apple is a mystery to me. What have they done besides innovate?)musicalmac
They overprice based on image alone. And you don't need to worry as much about adware/spyware/malware/viruses, but they still exist. Personally, I have a five year old desktop that has NEVER caught a virus or had a spyware/adware/malware problem.

They're not overpriced. You pay for what you get. If you go punch by punch, the mac is much better equipped than a factory PC. Do you know what kind of software ships with a new mac? I didn't think so.

They are bloody overpriced. A $1999 iMac has worse specs than a $1,099 Alienware.
