Apple TV 3 Might be Apple second Home Game Console

NextGenRetro: There's a market a'brewing. A market for an Apple game console that is. People are buying lots of games from the App Store. The selection has grown from simple games like Cut the Rope to complex games like Dead Space and Infinity Blade and people can't get enough. The market is growing more hardcore so to speak. The tastes of users have matured and the possibilities are really opening up

they would get third pary support, and indie games, but not sure if we would see much first party to give any reason to buy that over the itouch

It will only be good for $2 games. I don't think that Bioware will be porting Dragon Age 2 for AppleTV if $2 is the highest price people will pay for it. Also, where is the motion sensing? That is all the rage nowadays.

Could be their big shot. You can't compare the TV 3 to the Pippin. Back then no one took them seriously(I gave up on Apple after Wozniak's departure and the IIGS' demise). These days people would fight for anything Apple throw at them. Hats off to their viral marketing even though I still don't care.

Yeah, but if you compare the ipod touch with the 3DS, you question why nintendo is selling it at that price!

knowing apple...600-700..easiler they charge people like crazy and it will sell faster then a new cod.....

will it do good? idk people made up there mind about game consoles so apple will need 1st party games that are good and memorable.....i think they would get there you know what handed to them for a few years...or a gen

Why use a dedicated console when the smarter thing to do is expand their Apple TV functions, home sharing and the connection between all devices.

Play iPad 2 games on your TV.

It will not be a home console in the sense a PS3 or 360 is. It will most likely offer full HD support for files, faster cpu, possible gpu, updated interface and it may offer the chance to play games released on the APP store. Apple will not invest in a games console the same way Microsoft have as they have made around £1.5 million off Angry Birds alone on a game that retails for 59p on the APP store which proves the current gaming setup works.(30% of retail price to apple for every app, game sold)

Yeah maybe the Ipad is.. but the Iphone, Ipod, Imac and macbook aren't. They can't even spout around the whole "build quality" rubbish they like to because in Asus is the most reliable laptop brand and it's cheaper than a comparable macbook.

This would actually be their 2nd console. Apple has done well in the portable/casual market. I just don't think they can compete in the hardcore/living room console market. Whatever they release (if anything) will no doubt be (in typical Apple fashion) way overpriced.
