Pretty much why i broke down and ordered a bone.
Launch lineups looks incredibly boring compared to my current backlog, though after price drops there are more bone titles I would be willing to pickup on the cheap. And while im waiting for titanfall, I have all the multimedia features to play around with in the meantime.
Next year ill either get a PS4 or upgrade my PC, depending on what looks more appealing at the time.

While we have no reason to doubt their analysis, the difference just isn't all that apparent when you're playing in a standard living room setup on a 1080p TV.
AMD stomps Nvidia with R9 290… at least inreviewsNew cards faster and cheaper than Nvidia's best, but retail units have mysterious slow-downs.

The same site that claims AMD took the crown from Nvidia because it is faster and cheaper..hahaha
Oh and the Nvidia GPU and AMD ones runs the games benchmarket at the same resolution, one is juts a little faster and cheaper,on the console market not only Ghost is double the resolution on PS4 it is also faster running at more than 60FPS at many times..hahahaa
Arstechnica should drop the act.
So, should you upgrade? The answer is "probably not yet."
OK, "don't buy either" is kind of a crappy recommendation for those looking for a new system. If you simply must buy a new console right now, which should you get?
It's a tougher call than it has been for a while. From a purely hardware-focused perspective, the PS4 provides similar-to-slightly-better power for $100 less.
SDC
Thank you Sony.
I don't know why people prefer the xbox interface. I really find it confusing and very slow. Hope that changed with X1
The X1 is calling....
Stupid people willing to pay more for less with awful games like RYSE
You just have dumb oooozing out. Try and educate yourself on the console war.
What games are you playing right now on your PS4/10?
waiting for your answer...............
@lglz1337: right, based on hype. It won't sell another copy since the word is out of how bad it sux.

Same here, and sometime next year I'll likely pick up a PS4 as well. But for now and going forward the One offers to much, with much more to come, and just fits in better with my tastes and lifestyle. Its not all about gaming anymore with me, as much as I still game. My eventual PS4 will be solely for Sony exclusives that capture my attention. X1 for all else.

There is no conspiracy Arstechnica are been stupid and they already were call on it,when they say other time that there wasn't a different between 1080p and 720p when they actually have a damn article highlighting 1080p over 720 on a damn iphone screen, yeah 1080p vs 720 have no difference on 50 inch TV,but some one how on a 4 inch screen it does..lol
Once again the fact that graphics cards on PC are given a crown based on who run the same game at the same resolution but a little faster basically kill any Arstechnica damage control..
Is like trying to say that the 7770 is the same as a 7850 OC...lol no they are not..

You're just mad because another site deflates your "PS4 is the roxxorz" beliefs.
You're just mad because another site deflates your "PS4 is the roxxorz" beliefs.
Deflates.? hahaha...
Taking the affected clips and running them through our performance analysis tools, we expected the results to show clear frame-rate drops and small bouts of tearing, but surprisingly this wasn't the case at all, with the results showing us a largely locked 60fps bar one or two minor dips and a solitary torn frame. Furthermore, when seeking through the footage in performance-affected areas we were confronted with unique frames on a consistent basis, thus indicating a 60fps update that we just didn't feel when playing the game.
So just what is going on? Well, a close look at our captures reveals that Call of Duty: Ghosts actually runs at higher frame-rates than 60fps on a fairly frequent basis, despite the video output being limited to 60Hz. In scenes where we experienced judder and perceived frame-rate loss, what we are actually seeing is the appearance of skipped and incomplete frames - an effect that is arguably far more noticeable than a few prolonged drops down to 50fps or so seen the 360 version of the game.

Dude Ghost runs at 1080p more than 60 FPS,it completely destroy the xbox one version in power consumption, sony most be really pushing developers to stay at 1080p.
Ghost at 720p on PS4 would run at 100 FPS who knows if more,i just one to see the first game on PS4 that really pushes 720p,it would be so far head of anything on xbox one it would not even be funny.
What you are seeing now is multiplatform games that just double the xbox one on resolution, but if sony or a developer actually does what Crytek did with Ryse,oh boy the visuals will kill the crap out of anything on xbox one.
Hell Killzone SF is more open has better effect than Ryse is 1080p and runs at 30 to 40 FPS,Ryse can't even hit 30 FPS at a consistent basis even at 900p.
Once again the fact that GPU on PC are proclaim winners based on just a few frames more show how bitter and sad Arstechnica is been here.
Everybody keeps saying the future lineup for Xbox One exclusive games is better, but the only noteable games are Titanfall and Halo, that's about it. The other exclusives are just as thin as the PS4's new IPs.
I just don't see this future lineup that is supposed to be so amazing.

See, there you go again - inflating the PS4 power advantage. You are a broken record - you believe the sites that strengthen your opinion, and just ignore the ones that don't.
You may be full of crap, but at least you are a consistent moo cow.
The graphical disparities are being overblown by people. Yes, the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One, but the gap is not huge, and won't be noticeable in the coming months. The developers are still getting used to the architecture of the Xbox One and PS4.
It has nothing to do with the system itself, it's the developers not learning how best to optimize yet. It'll take a little longer than on PS4 because of the eSRAM.
Xbox One can run games at native 1080p, 60 fps, as evidenced by Forza 5.
Another example is Need for Speed : Rivals, running at native 1080p, 30 fps on both Xbox One and PS4.
Also, devs have stated:
Our best sources don't expect that to have a huge impact on the graphics of games on both consoles.
"I think this is not going to be an issue in six months," one reliable game development source who is not affiliated with Microsoft or Sony told us. "It's just a bumpy time for launch is what it is."
This same source corroborated reports that multiple multiplatform launch games will launch running at a higher resolution on PS4 than Xbox One. Still, they don't expect any major, noticeable graphics differences to be long-term. They attribute this to gradual improvements made to the Xbox One hardware over the past year but more because they expect developers to overcome any headaches they're having developing for the new Xbox as they did with last generation's onerous PS3.

I like how these reviews will discuss launch titles but not the prospect of whats to come.......
Oh sure, MS deserves much praise for holding titles off of 360 to make them launch titles. Nothing wrong with that..... right? ROFL!
Everybody keeps saying the future lineup for Xbox One exclusive games is better, but the only noteable games are Titanfall and Halo, that's about it. The other exclusives are just as thin as the PS4's new IPs.

Netiher do I...
I really hope that Infamous: SS turns out great , because it looks like the PS4's most promising title.
I'm not sure what the Xbone has to offer, Titanfall is just more MP and that's just a farcry from what the industry needs.
See, there you go again - inflating the PS4 power advantage. You are a broken record - you believe the sites that strengthen your opinion, and just ignore the ones that don't.

hahaha what a super blind fanboy...
Digital Foundry say the problems with frames rates on PS4 are do to the PS4 going over 60FPS,rather than going under, most of the time the game runs at higher that 60 FPS in 1080p.
Do you know what it takes for one GPU to double another in resolution and still keep higher frames.? Do you have any idea.?
No you don't because you claimed time after time that the only difference would be 2 or 3 frames more nothing more, when i told you that for the xbox one to keep up resolution and frames most be sacrifice,so i was right you were wrong, and i prove it.
720p 60 FPS vs 1080p at more than 60FPS.

I didn't say 2-3, I said 5-10. And, you don't know *why* the XB1 version is at 720P. IW said they have a version of CoD for XB1 running at 1080P, they just didn't have time in their opinion to optimize the engine to keep a solid 60FPS. The decision to take it down to 720P was made 1 month before the release date. Go read about it - google "xbox one ghosts 720p explained" and read for yourself.
So, if the XB1 version runs something like in the 50s most of the time, and the PS4 runs in the 60s, then my opinion on the matter is rather accurate.

Arstechnica on PC. The R290 takes the crown from Nvidia all based on the same resolution with a few more frames cheaper.
Arstechnica on consoles. The xbox one and PS4 are the same, xbox one games 720p,PS4 games 1080p with faster frames and cheaper.
Arstechnica and any one for that matter than claim no difference is day fu**ing dreaming, they are been huge hypocrites this are the same sites that proclaimed the xbox 360 version of games to be superior based on 100 lines less of resolution with the same visuals, and now that the PS4 is doubling the xbox one some how resolution doesn't matter any more, frames either.
Less than 7770 vs 7850 OC and some how Arstechnica thinks is the same, the same hypocrites that say you could see the difference between 720p and 1080p on a damn freaking iphone 4 inch screen...hahaaaaaaaaa
It most be that from doing those iphone comparison between 1080p and 720p they force their eyes so much that they can't now see the difference between 1080p and 720p on a damn 50 inch screen..lol

Please dude if that was the case a 1080p patch could be issue latter, but there isn't one and is not coming.
BF4 is 720p on xbox one to what is the excuse there.? Oh wait That same activision dude claimed that Titanfall was 720p to,and it was leak that Bungies Destiny on PS4 was the definitive version.
There was a leak about how the xbox one version of COD was running at 15 FPS after 3 months of work, while the PS4 version in 2 weeks was running at 90 FPS,funny enough the PS4 version runs higher than 60 FPS odd isn't it.?
And not is not the same and your opinion is completely wrong and inaccurate, the difference is not just faster frames on PS4 is also double the resolution,so yeah my opinion was rather accurate.
@tormentos:
Didn't bother reading your post because I know it's full of sh*t. Sorry.
Yeah because you have nothing to counter, fact is Ars was call on their crappy article, they highlight how 1080p vs 720p was different using a damn iphone screen,if you can see the difference is such a small scree WTF don't tell me you can't see it on a damn 50 inch screen.
Worse they have an article claiming how AMD took the crown from Nvidia, based on just a few more frames per second and cheaper price, but when the topic is consoles, were the PS4 has resolution, frames and price advantage some how we most believe that both are the same..lol
The simple fact that the xbox one is $100 more with less graphics says it all.

Don't question it, just let the ignorance envelope you in its warm embrace.
i went with an xbox one simply because too many toolboxes play ps4, as evidenced by this message board.
After all is said, the graphics difference really isn't that much, and in one years time, x1 will have titanfall and ps4 will still not have any huge system sellers. The way I see it, I'll probably get an X1 first and a PS4 in a year or two when it becomes the better console all around. It will, i'm sure, eventually be the defacto better console, but for now, it's not.
