Are Africa settings the new theme for this generation?

Afrika- Takes place in Africa(duh)

Resident Evil 5- Takes place in Africa

Metal Gear Solid 4- Takes place in African town

Halo 3- Revolves around Africa

Far Cry 2- Takes place in Africa

I guess video games in the past haven't taken place in Africa and developers are starting to realize it will give their games a unique setting. Too bad because all of them are doing it.

Its Africa, its been Africa. Hell the news story that broke a few days ago about Capcom giving an estimate for release said Capcom's new African set horror game haha. Or the total racism backlash for being in Africa.

More games are being set in Africa because devs are finally starting to grow some testacles and set games there even though people are going to slam it as racism (which obviously they did).

The entire opening of the game is in africa, as is the major element of the storyline. :|

EDIT: you know this only just occured to me now, but originally the Halo storyline said that the UNSC started forming colonies on other planets because Earth was so populated that mega metropolises covered every inch of ground. Yet in Halo 3 you drive over rolling hills and look out onto the vast plains of africa without a building in sight. :P

After the space station portion the next couple of hours are set on Earth. All of the Earth portions of Halo 2 were in Africa bud. The city the covenant land in is in Africa.
