After seeing a few console games like red dead it seems console games are really starting to look kinda bad. it looks so low res with little aa . i dont have a high end pc but it sure spanks consoles. I think its time for some new consoles. I really dont see why move and natal are coming out near the end of this gen . will they also use them for ps4 and 720?

I think its time for some new consoles. I really dont see why move and natal are coming out near the end of this gen . will they also use them for ps4 and 720?

yeah rdr didnt look to crazy good to me but then some games look great but we are used to seeing these graphics since 05-06

Uncharted and kill zone is all smoke and mirros . It still is low res ! Consoles are way to limted in meory this gen .

They're good enough to me. I rarely notice visual discrepancies until this forums points them out to me.

And even then, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the games in any way.

Exactly. I'm getting my copy tomorrow morning :D but whilst I don't think it's the top end of console graphics - it's still a very technically impressive game.

put away the graphics card and enjoy the good games.

This gen should be a lesson for pretty much everyone that focusing on graphics has only damaged the pure essence of gaming.

It's time to consider the graphics as one of the aspects, not THE aspect.

Sticking with the current gen will allow devs to focus more on gameplay and detail instead of having to learn new hardware and fight for the next tech achievement.

Games like Alan Wake, Metro 2033, STALKER and even SWAT4 are so rich in atmosphere and detail its not just about how powerful the hardware and tech is, its about making the world look real, lived in, and believable.

Compared to PC, yes, though it depends on the game. Console games keep looking better and better though, on the same hardware.

my geforce 9800 is so dated comapred to the new gfx cards. if developers were to stay "updated" all the time, they'd need to develop games within 6 months time and then move on to the superior hardware. games should NOT follow this scheme. first you learn how to use a certain tech to its fullest, then you can move on to a more advanced one, but always keeping in mind that games are not only a graphics showcase.

You're absolutely right - console graphics will be dated when developers can no longer improve/achieve anything more technically - this years proven otherwise.

games are being gimped to run on the low amount of ram consoles have. I am also sick of seeing console games running at 800x600 with no aa . with that res you might as well use an SD tv .

Oh please those games are running at like 1024x768 and it cant even do real AA they have to use tricks like blurying frames to get rig of the jaggies .

Frankly, I think every single game released these days are outdated. I don't have a time-machine nor is my PC respectable, but sometimes I wonder what sort of game would we see if you had a game that made the same leap as Crysis did when compared with 2004. I mean HL2 (still looks good) to Crysis was a giant leap as far as technology goes, and now we find ourselves hoping Crysis 2 is at least comparable with the first one. We are stuck...

Oh come on, name me a game which runs at 800x600 with NO AA. That's not a consoles fault, where are the big PC exclusives in that case?

kz2 has better hit reactions, and a couple weapon models that are arguably better. Thats about it.

They look fine but I still think last generation and older games look fine. On another note haven't been really impressed by graphically intense games for over half a decade.

not really. but its more because tech has stalled rather than consoles remaining on the cutting edge. the fact that crysis remains the benchmark in graphics (technical) is worrying to say the least. i mean there were articles praising software based MSAA in GOW3 using the SPUs. kudos to the devs.....but its a solution to a problem that should not have existed in the first place. it was just reinventing the wheel and thats where the progress is going at the mo. i hope crysis 2 finally mops the floor with crysis. the hardware is there. but i dont think it will.

I highly doubt it will do. They even said if there are things that are cool that can be added in the PC version but cant be added on the console they will scrap that. From whatever screen shots have been shown (the ones with the hud) it looks like they have made extra detail in the textures and models but the actual graphics etc are not looking that impressive :(. The PC gaming world is being turned into follow the consoles. I highly doubt we will see any massive changes in graphics till the next gen comes into play. We have that ID tech 5 or whatever its called but people such as EPIC etc have no need to pump out a new benchmarking engine so to speak because there isnt simply the demand for it.

Yes KZ2 has better physics calculations per object that reacts differently to many real-time aspects All the WEAPON MODELS IN KZ2 ARE INCREDIBLY HIGH RESOLUTION...Maybe if you play the game, you will realise...KZ2 uses a purpose blur on the weapon models to give a cinematic look on the weapon models to mimic CGI, so when you play it,(instead of watching low res videos), you will feel like your playing a CGI-like cinematic experience A deffered light rendering engine that can display over 300+ dynamic light sources on the screen at any given time is better than an HDR lighting solution

U2 definately has better sound effects by far, and like ive mentioned before, the physics calculations are more impressive.

GOW3 Does have a much larger scale....Its rather obvious... Kratos's character model by itself decimates all of Crysis's character models. Sound effects most definately. MLAA yields higher results than Crysis's AA method...No need to facepalm...

To be honest, I was never really impressed with this gen, visually. It wasn't until I got a ps3 and saw Uncharted, Killzone, and God of War that I was somewhat impressed. The problem is that I expected this gen of consoles to produce visuals of those games calibur off the bat.

I created a new account because i wanted my own account, since hamzah1235 was my little brothers who he had never used. I never stated that MLAA was better than MSAA... All i stated was that it yields much more efficient, higher achieving results. KZ2 has a much more impressive lighting system than Crysis. There is also no Gif of U2 i can show you. Finally, GOW3 is not smoke and mirrors,,,

U2 definately has better sound effects by far, and like ive mentioned before, the physics calculations are more impressive.

GOW3 Does have a much larger scale....Its rather obvious... Kratos's character model by itself decimates all of Crysis's character models. Sound effects most definately. MLAA yields higher results than Crysis's AA method...No need to facepalm...

I'm not saying I don't want new consoles eventually, and I recognize the two consoles' technical limitations extend beyond graphics, but frankly I could be happy with PS3/360-level graphics for the rest of my gaming career. I don't care much about AA, I guess I never noticed what other people notice.

I've also been gaming every generation since the NES, and have never made that comment for any other generation. Graphics are simply good enough now to fulfill their purpose of creating an immersive environment; photorealism is unnecessary.

Dated compared to PC? Of course they do. But if I wanted to paly PC games, id buy a gaming rig.

Uncharted and kill zone is all smoke and mirros . It still is low res ! Consoles are way to limted in meory this gen .

Smoke and mirrors or not, it still looked like the statue of liberty disappeared.

Yes the 360's old hardware is making all multi-plats look dated, but PS3 exclusives still have power left to rival a gaming PC.
