i was playing Uncharted 2 and my ps3 went to hell, maybe the game was too much awesome for the system to take. I lost my 360 three time and now my ps3. I'm soo pissed...my pc is on day and night and it outlasted both combined. I'm out...not going to even bother with both systems...i'm gonna buy both systems for cheap at the end of this gen and play any epic games i missed, that is the only option left for me...unless some build a capable emulator for both systems. Hope sony and ms burn in hell.

OBVIOUSLY everything breaks, unfortunately M$ had rigged the 360 with a MI6-23 prototype self destruct technology now known as the Red Ring of Death

No but they are build to be cheap, constantly trying to save pennies here and there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had an acceptable failure rate.

It was most likely your PS3 died because it became sad and depressed on the fact you kept buying new Xbox 360's after they died. It wants to be replaced.

OBSIOUSLY everything breaks but 360 happens to do it more

I can't tell you often my PC has broken. Graphic Card breaks. O/S got corrupted, HDD failed and has to be reimaged a number of times. The only systems that have been reliable for me are Nintendo's. My original Gameboy still works. So does my original NES. The cartridges don't all work, but the systems do.

Depends on the PC. Equiped with infamous nVidia Geforce 8600M GT, my gaming laptop PC suffered "black screen of death" after 18 months. Refer to NVIDIA's "bump gate".

Everything is made to break someday. Do you think a company would sell you a product that would never fail? How could it sell you a newer version of the product? But I have to agree that Microsoft have dropped the ball on the reliability but at least they made up with the increased warranty.

Escalators can't break. They turn into stairs. Then the stairs can break. You are wrong. :P

No, they are not built to break. They are built to play games.

it's not a matter of 'taking care of your stuff'
i've had every system since the nes generation,
and i've only replaced my ps2 (twice),
my x-box(once)
my x-box 360(once)
and surprisngly my brick NDS(once, but not really, i just bought a lite after it broke)

systems just break,
it's technology's downfall,
sometimes there is no avoidable reason.

It's called planned obsolescence. Ipod is a prime example.

So in short yes.

it depends. my ps3 is definitely collecting dust inside since it's in a very open space. and since i cant open it to clean it i ncase of a YLOD, i dunno. but if you're patient enough you can put the ps3 back to its box after playing so that dust wont accumulate, and always take care of it.

i did that with my very first console which is a Sega Mega Drive and it still works today. my original controllers do not work now due to years of gameplay (had it in 1992 when i was 3, and played with it for 6 years then i had a ps1). so yea. to tihnk of it, it's the only gaming system i really took care of. i always put it in its box after i palyed with it, always vacuumed the inside, and used compressed air, used a solvent to clean the exterior so that the logos and colours will not fade, etc. when i was playing earlier Sonic games since they didnt have save data before i had to use a fan to cool the Mega Drive down. so on and so forth.

now it's just the sentimental value of it.

Can't believe nobody has told him to get a Wii in the meantime. Anyway, I've owned nearly every system since the NES and the only one to fail on me was a Falcon 360 (which I've replaced). Surprisingly the 360 is still one of my favourite consoles tied with the SNES.

yeah because you want them all for less than 300 dollars. Xbox360 hasnt even a fan on the CPU and GPU just a heatsink. At least i have the choice to build something that will work.

But what if the escalator gets chopped in half before it has a chance to be stairs?

Try storing it in a cool place after you're done with it and unplug the cables to the system if you didn't do this.

My brother's NES (now mine) still works, nintendo products work. Most Japanese products work, sony is fairly reliability. 360 ehh I am on my 3rd... But the most reliable object I own is my PC, Its like my child because I love it and its going to out live me...

the 360 was, obviously. If you look at the manufactureing costs of the PS3, they had the loyal customer in mind more than trying to pinch Penny's. The PS3 is the best built console in history IMO.

lol. i was in the same boat as you about 3 months ago. my 360 broke then not even a week later my ps3 got ylod. i thought the E74 error on 360 was made up. untill mine got it. i was really upset when my ps3 crapped out on me. specaily since its 170 to fix it and you only get a 90 day warrenty. wasnt to mad about 360 cause it got it fixed for a price of a box. which was 3 bucks. im gonna bite the bullet and rebuy a ps3. and if that brakes im gonna go to japan throw both my 60 gig and slim threw their window!!!!

Thats how I have been feeling lately. Blu ray drive just recently broke on my ps3 and I have gone through 3 360s as well. I am done with systems and am just gonna buy a regular blu ray player. I have plenty of awesome games on the pc to last me an eternity I don't need to be wasting my money on consoles that will break after playing through a few games on them.
